I'd love to see a Corsair too. My only concern is that the wing folding mechanism, even a manual one, will add weight.

@@SimonAmazingClarke Agreed, folding wings will add some weight. But making it trailerable so you can store it in a garage or in a hangar with other aircraft versus having to get a hangar with all the associated costs is well worth the weight penalty. Everything in aviation is a compromise.

@@velocity550 absolutely agree about the compromise in aviation. I worked in Aircraft Design for over ten years. I was always pushinf for weight reductions.

I absolutely love the Bent Wing Bird, but having spent time with one I can tell you it’s bloody huge! Like even a 50% scale would be significantly bigger than the P-36 replica. That said, a Wildcat would probably be closer to practical because their wing fold was manual not hydraulic, a little more simple to scale, it works better with their modular wing set up and their fixed/retract gear. Hopefully if they did a Wildcat it would have an electric drive for the gear, but even if not it wouldn’t be too bad at that scale.

After the P-36/40 I'm 99% sure we'll be looking at doing the Hellcat with folding wings.

A 30 caliber 1919 is about 70% of a 50 caliber AN/M2

The 109 was a tight fit to begin with at full scale. Imagine scaling it down to 60%. That’s why the big American piston birds work out great. A 60% Corsair or Thunderbolt are still good size aircraft to put a pilot in. Spitfire has the same issue.

Those are projected numbers not based on flight data so it’s likely better than the numbers at a glance indicate. Moreover it’s a single seat light sport “fun fighter” it’s use it to look cool and fly easy, I imagine it will do that fine.

@@johnbeauvais3159 exactly right. It's about the spirit of the war birds in a way you can actually afford it. It's not going perform like a full size replica with a p&w. The verner has lots of soul but it isn't high powered

@@9.5to1 If Verner could do a “Double-Wasp” version of their 7 and 9 cylinder engines with a reduction gear, now that would be extremely exciting. I understand that is an order of magnitude more difficult but boy would it be cool to stuff into a replica P-47
