The internet has created delusions, everyone thinks they deserve a supermodel. It's wild out here!

I love how the scammers know that to trick women to fall in love you create a fake decorated soldier, doctor, make them in their 50s, with pics of them traveling and with pets. To trick men into falling in love, be 20 years old with a hot ass. The end.

She wears designer clothes and her hair & nails are done and she's sending model type pics lounging in front of a pool yet he really believes she's penniless & hungry?

What bugs me about these victims is that they would never give that amount of money to their family or a charity. But in the name of "love" for a person they NEVER MET IN REAL LIFE - they send THOUSANDS. Seriously?

This man says he does this because he's insecure...BUT he keeps going for women that are waaaay out of his league online. How does that work? 🤔

This isn't LIKE an addiction, it IS an addiction. This isn't any different than being addicted to drugs, food or sex. Addiction is obsessing over your vice, and compulsively seeking it out, even though it's destroying your life. I think we can all agree that's exactly what's happening with these people.

Romance Scammer Checklist: 1. He or she is out of your league 2. He or she started asking for money $$$ 3. He or she wants gift cards instead of real / actual gifts 4. He or she sends his or her Identification Cards (or other legal documents as proof of legitimacy without being asked) 5. He or she always has a back story with drama and need urgent financial assistance 6. He or she asks money for food 7. He or she asks if you’ve eaten 8. He or she calls you King/Queen, Dear, Hunny, and very poetic (not to mention confesses love early on) 9. He or she won't video chat often (mostly due to a bad internet connection) and will usually refuse to answer phone calls 10. He or she will delay your meet-up for months or worse, years Let me know if I missed other signs. Hope this helps!

Being superficial is what gets these people scammed. They need to be honest and ask themselves if real people, who look like their online interests, would be interested in them in real life. Why do they think that these “online” people would be then?

These guys are more than happy to send thousands of dollars over the course of months/years to women that they've never even met in person but probably wouldn't spend $100 on a half-assed date with a woman who actually lives in their zip code. 🙄

Being single is not the worse thing that can happen to you. Our culture has placed such an emphasis on “romance,” “love,” and acceptance to validate your importance. It’s wrong, and an illusion. There comes so much peace, and joy when one embraces with contentment their status in life. That’s my opinion, for what it’s worth! Our worth is not found in another.

How to help your male victims? Straight up tell them, dude, you’re talking to a guy. It’s his full time job.

These guys are carrying on (what they believe is) relationships with multiple "women", so they're basically players and users. It's hard to feel sorry for them, especially the 61 year old who's sleazing on 30 year old women.

Imagine the feeling of utter shame those people have for being on the 'sucker's list' 😮 As for Jodie, she is a lost cause.

These men are hard to feel sorry for. They lack self awareness.

There seems to be an overlap to all these stories. I feel these people have certain traits in common. In all cases: - Always looking for hyper-sexualized imagery; someone young, someone beautful, someone greatly skilled; going after the proverbial "10", while being a 2, 3, or 4 - a general unwillingness to look for a fitting mate "closer to home", closer to their own age, and closer to their own physical beauty (which, painful as it might be, is a fact of life - a 10 dates 10's, perhaps also 9's, 8's, a random 7 with humor, but never a 6 or lower); common modern beauty standards have poisoned many minds, insofar that many people get bored with their vanilla spouse, even when they're also vanilla; a smarter, more realistic person dates in their own pool, and will find a mate they can be happy with; In most cases: - Extremely poor self-reflection; e.g. a poor 60-year old woman, with no teeth, with no personal hygiene, dating a 23-year-old pilot, who looks like Brad Pitt; or, a 65-year-old alcoholic tractor mechanic, with no teeth, dating a fashion model from Paris - I mean, really? - Extreme detachment from reality; not seeing they already have fantastic people in their lives; or sometimes a loving spouse; or recognizing they can find someone in their town, around the corner; only seeing this beautiful figment online, unable to wake up from their day-dream; - Extreme gullibility; taking every compliment & "I love you" as religious scripture; even if the person starts saying "I love you" after 10 text messages; even if the other party looks like a model, and you look like a slob who didn't shower since March; proved in many cases, in that when it becomes quite clear the other party is in reality a "Nigerian prince", and seeing proof, or even talking to the real person behind the photo, continuing to talk about the phantom as "her", and want to talk to "her" face-to-face, to confront her, and ask why she did it; - Extreme lack of impulse control; paying $400K, remortgaging the house, paying for the frills and unnecessary luxuries of a spoiled pretty phantom; like sending a Google Play card of $200 so they can get a coffee; In some cases: - Low IQ - Low social IQ - Social awkwardness - Extreme inability to reason logically In the most poignant, reckless & damaging (for themselves & loved ones) cases: - Being on the autistic spectrum; having tunnel vision; extreme shyness, therefore being more prone to going online, then meeting people in real life - which might also function as a safety mechanism (while they might not like the results, they hide online, for fear of being seen, resulting in a neverending loop of same behavior), which they might actually subconciously prefer to actually meeting someone; - Addictive personalities; inability to stop & wake up to the music, even after friends & family warn, and threaten to kick you out of the house; even when they're broke and can't make rent anymore; - Lack of morals, or even a complete moral void; resulting in risking, without hesitation, to lose the mother/father of their child, or long time spouse, to a phantom; I think in all Catfish videos, all victims have at least 8 of these 12 traits. I have a younger sister, who could also easily be duped. Luckily she has no online presence. My sister does not have an addictive personality, nor low moral standards, but fits all other criteria above. Therefore, she would definitely be an easy target for online romance scams. I have been targeted myself a few times too, but saw through the mirage, in less than 15 minutes of chatting. The request for money is a definitive proof, 100% of the time, it is a scam. No real date would ever borrow or request money from you. N E V E R E V E R !

Well, I got "scammed" by Donald's initial video! I remember watching it and thinking that MY smoke detector's battery was on the blink. So, I took the unit off of the wall and disabled it. I finally realized that it was his smoke detector that was problematic so I ruined a completely good smoke detector and spent $40 for a new one!

Demiz is insecure, but he believes he deserves a tip-top woman. How's that? What does he come to the table with for her?

Could you get a psychologist on your team? Because the reason they can't give up their scammer is likely deep rooted issues they have mentally that a psychologist could help with.

The fact that someone would send someone they've never met or even had a voice conversation with thousands of dollars never stops boggling my mind.

The problem with these people is that they are trying to date out their league , looking for 10’s and models smh ! They probably have nice people in their communities that they wouldn’t even look at . They want fantasies not relationships .

"Go to clubs" is bad advice actually. You're better off trying to meet people through mutual hobbies or other friends. Clubs are another great way to waste time and get finessed. Have fun at clubs sure but don't expect to find a GF.

I’m curious as to why someone who was scammed out of thousands of dollars TWICE, would be so willing to get into a third situation that looked just like all the other ones. Is the pattern not obvious? Does he enjoy throwing his money away? Why not just give it to charity? Or save it for retirement? Hell, even buying a bounce house would make more sense.

It just kills me how these very average guys fall for these Thirst-Traps. Would these guys be nearly as interested and willing to fork over money for a more "average" looking, older woman?

My heart and prayers goes out this man. A fake page of my brother was made on Facebook one time. I notified him and told about the fake page and we both reported it. And it got taken down.

I'm honestly a bit of a loner, so I prefer not talking to people. I would accept friend requests on social media, and the instant I accepted their request, they would send me a message. It was irritating to me because I don't feel the need to talk to people, especially ones that I don't know. And then when they act like I'm their girlfriend, it creeps me out, because I never said I would be their girlfriend in the first place. So I stopped accepting friend requests from people I don't know for that reason.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to these people about dating in person and letting this go. Some lose everything in their obsession. Law enforcement is almost useless here.

This is why you need to either get a therapist on staff, or find some therapists who do online consultations that you can refer the victims to. They need professional psychological help

When people who are OBVIOUSLY being scammed refuse to acknowledge the reality of their situation, then there is nothing you or anyone else can do for them. Telling these self-made victims to stop sending money and break off contact with the scammers just falls on deaf ears.
