This Figure 4 Glute stretch done against the wall is my favourite variation for opening up the outside of the hip.
When it's done against a wall like this we can sense pressure through the heel of the foot, enhancing the connecting to the glute on one side while allowing the other foot to rest on the knee while the other knee abducts outwards.
