Hi guys! Today I am in Port Lligat, in the North of Catalonia, Spain! Together with my friend Rafel I am going to cook this great traditional fish stew; a Scorpionfish Suquet! Port Lligat is my favorite town in Spain and it's right next to Cadaqués! And we are actually cooking in front of the house of famous artist Salvador Dalí, this very place is where he created his amazing art! The rocky coasts of Catalonia are perfect for small fishing boats, and to this day this traditional dish is prepared on the docks by the fishermen themselves after their trips on the sea. This dish is so easy to make if you have the right ingredients, and you could easily replace the scorpionfish with hake, cod or monkfish. Enjoy!

I thought I recognised Dali's house have been to this beach but the house was closed for visits on the day! Delicious food again Bart YUM!

Must have been great to cook just next to the sea, in a beautiful area, with Rafael, enjoying a tasty meal with some beautiful and certainly savory fish... thanks for sharing Bart. Really enjoying these Spanish recipes Bart! My Mexican grandmother made Paella but all of my Mexican friends said its not a typical Mexican dish. I was not surprised to learn it was Spanish! Thank you sir.

In Hong Kong we catch this fish too and we make sashimi outta it, taste very sweet and fresh, never tried a suquet with it before, but definitely will tell my friend who catch this to try it out!

Oh my god... Apart from the perfectly beautiful settings, this is so delish!! I'd probably cheat a little with organic stock - but that looks so simple, and so tempting! Loving the story too - something a little rustic and traditional, enjoyed with family and friends.. xo

I googled Bart's fish tales/monkfish, and this recipe turned up, Bart. I can't get Scorpion fish here, but your friend/chef Rafael said you can use monk fish. I don't have all the fish bones either, but I have a feeling this is still going to be really good, so will cook it tonight! Thanks Bart!

Bart am a regular viewer of your fish tales ... Scorpion Fish is very new for me and I would love to try it next time I visit Spain. Why don't you do a show in Kerala, India - you get "The Pearl Spot" which is a freshwater fish, very popular in these parts. I would love to see how creative you can get with the Pearl Spot. I love how the bottle of wine is full at the start...they use 1/2 a glass in the dish and it's empty at the end of the video. :D The dish looks amazing btw!

No. Don't brown your garlic cloves, lest you like a bitter after-taste. Half a minute with oil is the ideal time for frying garlic.

For this dish I didn't remove them as we can use the glue for the balance of the sauce.

I've never heard of a scorpion fish before! It looks so cartoon-like, like it came from the Simpsons! Haha. I was wondering what does it taste like? Is it more like a tilapia in that it has a light taste to them?

Haha, I agree it's not the most attractive dude. Scorpionfish is a rocky fish with an intense taste. They often use this fish for soups too. Think of the famous bouillabaisse. But I would never think of tilapia when tasting scorpion fish. Give it a try one day!

Why not just fillet the fish, add the bones and the head to extract their gelatine as you are boiling the potatoes, and then add the boneless pieces into the final dish?
