We have to be honest, who's responsible for today's wimpy play? The players of yesterday. All of those fights and players coming off the bench forced the league to apply rules to prevent that physical stuff. We can't blame today's players when all they are doing is following the rules. I think the league should pull back on some of those rules. Honestly, fans want to see physicality and fracases.
Yeah, most 80s/90s looks skinny and lanky, even Shaq and Malone. Yet when they get fouled hard, they get back up right away and chaos ensues. Nowadays, players look more muscular and wider, even PGs, but when they get a hard foul, they act like their limbs got torn.
Maybe not too many remember but Fox couldn't guard Scottie when Rick was with the Celtics and Pip with Chicago. Scottie was way passed his prime with Portland and still took this team to a seven game series and they lost because they couldn't make a basket in the 4th quarter of game seven after leading by 15 or 16 points, that says a lot about his leadership, plus he played against a young Kobe and prime Shaq. The man was a beast.
Yep, blame everyone except Scottie for that game 7 collapse even tho that same Blazers team made it to the WCF vs the Spurs the year before and Rasheed carrying his ass in game 7 scoring 30 points while Scottie choked shooting 3/12 fg while getting his ass busted by Kobe throughout the entire game and series 😂🤣🤡😎.
@@michaelbuffington4047 ...well that is the obvious thing. The Blazers were better and had the Lakers number in game 7 the refs wanted the Lakers in 100%. They didn't want Portland-Indiana Finals. They rigged it for the revenue the Lakers would bring in. The best teams don't always win the Finals. Portland should have been crowned the 2000 World Champs.
@@TonyCurtisHughes5464 Exactly! Phil knew, if you get Pippen off of his game, the Blazers will lose. But truthfully, the Blazers were playing against the refs and the Lakers.
Amazing clip ,everybody remember the fight between Rick Fox and Doug Christie ,but I didn’t know that Fox was a trash talker of this caliber , he was rookie with Bird’s Celtics in 1991 so he has learned from the trash talks’master the Legend Larry Bird ,amazing sequence
@@deni8814 That was one incident... you make it sound like he got punk time and again. Fox is a heady guy... he knew he did Doug Christie wrong thats why that happen.
REALLY DERANGED. SO WHY PHIL NEVER WON ANYTHING IN KNICKS ?? REGGIE MILLER KNEW HOW TO MAKE MJH CRY UNDER SKIN, AND BIRD KNOW HOW EASY IS TO SWEEP JORDAN EVERY PLAYOFF. NO PIPPEN NO 2ND ROUND
@@PIP...33Just stop! If Pip was the real reason Jordan never got out of the 2nd round, he would've taken this stacked Portland team to the NBA Finals. Pip's 7 points off the bench his rookie season really helped MJ get into the 2nd round... Did you know that Pip didn't even lead Jordan in any stat til their 4th season playing together?
@zzzvain2876 Reggie knew how to make MJ cry so much that the Bulls won 32 out of the 49 times MJ and Reggie faced each other. Jordan averaged 29 points with Reggie guarding him as opposed to Reggie averaging 19. If Reggie made him cry with MJ still putting up that number, think of what MJ did against everyone else...
@@xoltarr424 REALLY DERANGED , THATS WHY ZEKE IS 37-16 IN CAREER VS JORDAN CAUSE HE OWNS HIM AND THOMAS IS 500X BETTER PLAYER BECAUSE HE ALSO WON VS BIRD AND JABBAR WHILE MJ 0-6
Chris Webber talks about losing Christie on Open Court. He said as soon as the team lost Christie he knew he would not be able to compete with Lakers again. He ment that much to the team
Pippen was good. But GOAT ? No. He wasn't nothing compared to what he was suppose to be. His best years literally was those last four years with the bulls.
@@fredleeland2464 Yep. Stephen Jackson and Armstrong P. Granitjaw aka Ron Artest saw to that with what they did. That was the final straw. Never again going to allow "physicality " into the game cuz it might get heated . It steals away a part of the game so integral to contests of sport, and thus leaves us with an incomplete, garbage product
@@thedeissy16 I won't go that far. Rick Fox had a long, and productive career. He just made the mistake of Underestimating Doug Christie. And he paid the price for it.
@@daystar73 Fuck all that! As much as I Respect Rick Fox, he was outta pocket in that situation. Any REAL MAN wouldn't let someone Disrespect them like that. So I guess you're saying you'd let Rick Fox "PUNK" you on National Television???? Without any retaliation??? GTFOH!
I really never understood why people thought Pippen's post Bulls career was unsuccessful. Believe he made the playoffs every year, including a trip to the WCF against the eventual champs Lakers. Still a pretty good run to end his career
@@arizonaFIREent no, I got that part. I'm just saying success is measured in lots of ways. Not a bad way to go out, making a run at the chip every year. But people armchair criticize and say his career was a bust post- Bulls. As if four more trips to the playoffs after 6 rings was a failure?
@@Bandana_Boi I agree bro.. Scottie Pippen Is literally one of the absolute best players to ever played the game. He was bot a champion but after his BULLS career he had the unfortunate ran ins with the DYNASTIC Lakers.

@@TheBmills415 yeah especially the fact he was only 30 and 2 years removed from winning the chip. Thanks man, I've really always wondered why all the hate on the latter part of his career.
@@scarykurapika100yago2 you’re an idiot, lakers went to the finals 2 times in the 70s , winning the championship in 72 with a record 33 wins in a row, still an NBA record led by the logo the great jerry west .
Dang you didn’t hear Mike Dunleavy said “I tell you what Rick fox your a pretty boy but you’ll get knocked on your rear!” That was loud and clear and he wasn’t joking! Tough coach!
Scotty Pippen wasn't acting so tough when Xavier McDaniels got in his face, naw, he put his tail between his legs, bowed his head and walked away like a coward.
I love how you can faintly hear the radio call in the background. Must be Portland radio. You can hear in real time how different the game was called with different perspectives.
Did you hear that... Listen closely and you'll hear "You're a pretty boy, and you'll get knocked on your @#$!" Lol Listen just as Coach Dunleavy is talking to Rick Fox
Scottie should of lead this team to the championship to get out of Jordan’s shadow but got stopped mastermind former coach Phil Jackson, who knows Scotties weakness. Portland had enforces too but didn’t use them.
Not true. Phil knew Scottie Pippen didn't have that killer instinct that's the reason reason he put kukoc in. And what does Scottie do he breaks down mentally. Scotti wasn't consistent When MJ threw bricks against the Pacers and the bulls had to play a game 7 he came back like killer on the court he was-GOAT
Rick Fox was a great defensive player, who loved to get under people’s skin, loved to agitate them a lot like Patrick Beverly does now. Him giving Peja Stojakovic no room to breathe the entire series when the Lakers faced the Kings was so important in their series win.
@@georgestamatakis697 nice try, how about 2001 where Fox played 40 min per game solely to stop Peja? By himself he held him to 39% FG shooting, and 28% on 3’s. Blanketed him the entire series, didn’t let him breathe, and shut his a&& down. Are we going to forget that?
@@Johnny-xj5qu Are you refering to the series that Peja scored 20ppg? The same series that Fox with no one guarding him, ever, because of the double and tripple teaming to Shaq and Kobe had 7.5 ppg with 10% from the 3pt line? Peja had a career 19,4 ppg with 47.4% from the field and 41,8% 3pt% against Fox. He was a bum and a fake tough guy as Christie showed when he redecorated his ugly face. Choose better arguments when talking with someone that's been watching NBA since the 80's.
@@georgestamatakis697 I will run circles around you with my knowledge of the game. Did I say Rick Fox was better than Peja? No I didn’t, did I say he was a good offensive player? He wasn’t, he wasn’t good at anything offensively except he could get hot from 3 when left wide open all game now and then. On that we agree. What was he good at? Getting under the skin of players and defense. Peja was a major concern for Laker fans and had his way with the Lakers in his young career at the time. Once they met in that series, Rick Fox was a human wet blanket. Peja was absolutely terrible as proven with 39% FG shooting and pathetic 3 pt shooting for the series. Look at the game logs to see just how bad he was. Fox made life miserable for him, and made up for his lousy offense by negating Peja completely. You changed the argument to try to win... that doesn’t work against somebody who knows the game more than you do. Shut down!
Throughout Sheed's NBA career, I can't recall anyone trying to pick a fight with him. The closest confrontation I can remember with him is when Walter McCarty tried to go after him during their college days. Sheed's that crazy guy you don't want to mess with.
@@toddsands6000 Yeah - he was a good guy though. I used to see him in the grocery store in Chapel Hill pretty often (usually on the cookie aisle - lol)
Fox had it all. Beautiful wife, decent career, good looks, money, and sadly worst basketball IQ. Almost had it all. Great memories and will always be funny to watch Rick Fox highlights
Low basketball IQ? Bro Fox was doing all this stuff on purpose. He basically got the Blazers to focus all their hate on him instead of worrying about Shaq and Kobe. Fox was playing 15 mins a game and living rent free in Scottie's head
@@nba_fan7214 bro I watched all the 3peat games season to finals, Fox is role player as much as Shaw, Horry, etc. Fox just annoyed players which anyone can do. Fox is unathletic only can shoot 3's and some D but his IQ was just that. That's average player, where KObe and LEbron's IQ is super high. FOx offense was not that good so his IQ is lower
Jail Blazers were loaded…. Scottie, Sabonis, Bonzi, Rasheed, Jermaine O’Neal, Plastic Man Augman, Detlef Schrempf, Steve Smith, Mighty Mouse Damon Stoudamire, Greg Anthony. They had a shot at the title. But most of the HoF were way past their primes
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. Rick Fox is the kind of guy I hate if he's on a team I hate (Boston, Lakers, Utah, Phoenix), but would love if he was on a team that I like (Portland, Seattle, Milwaukee, Atlanta).
I loved this brand of basketball. This made the games more exciting. The league is soft now. This was the last era where a lil extracurricular activitie was allowed.
Where Pippen Missed Jordan He would target them guys on Pip like Mcdaniels or Rodman Or hell As the Bulls matured he would pull scottie away and take it on for him
The league not suspending any of those Lakers coming off the bench on that clip was sus as heck. We all know they had crooked refs but that was on the front office.
Back when you could talk shit without instantly getting a T. God I miss the 80s to 2000s. NBA has basically turned into womens college basketball with the way they call the game.

This was the turning point of the playoffs Rick Fox getting into it with pip Fox never chewed gum once he did he became the lakers enforcer and pippen should've known better especially having Rodman as his teammate that the mind games that were being played And a lot of people other than laker fans know that Mike Dunnlevy led the lakers to the finals and 91
That Portland team was loaded and Pippen still couldn't get to the Finals. We all know what happened in game 7 of that series when Scottie and Portland choked and bricked their way to a loss blowing a 15 point 4th quarter lead. I'll take a 40 year old Jordan and swap him with Pippen and I bet that Portland doesn't lose that game. Pippen was always a sidekick and was never clutch. LOL!!!
@@davidmoody1235 MJ at that point was a team cancer because he still had the mindset of “Its my team”, even though at that point he was a horrid offensive player in terms of efficiency. He’d have destroyed the Blazers from the inside out being on that roster. The original point has some merit too. While MJ is the GOAT, without Pippen he never did anything, never even came close to doing anything in terms of playoff success. When MJ retired the first time, the Bulls were incredibly competitive winning 55 games without him, and being a horrifying ref call away from beating the Knicks in the playoffs. Plus, if MJs peak Bulls had been around in the era where the Celtics/Lakers/Pistons were still the prime version of themselves, he’d at best have 1 or 2 rings. He took over the league when those great teams faded away, and 4 new expansion teams came into the NBA, further watering it down.

I love the 90's Bulls but Scottie Pippen brought all this bullying on himself when he would implode and sabatoge the Bulls teams with his selfishness. Phil Jackson knew he was a huge threat to disrupt the triangle and knew how to exploit that in this series and it worked . The Lakers got in Scotties head and thus affected this series in a huge way....
