The scene with Dewey and gale really hit knowing they were married and actually divorced irl . I always wonder how hard/easy it was to film that first conversation scene and Dewey’s death scene 😢.

As much as it saddens me that Dewey was killed, it was kind of poetic for him he saved Sams little sister, where he wasn't able to save Tatum, his little sister. Also, it makes sense for Dewey to be the first legacy character to die out of the three. It gave us a chance to continue watching the Gale/Sidney arc. Dewey's death brought them together and to work as an actual team. Their relationship has grown a lot since the first Scream. Sidney/Dewey always had that brother/sister relationship, and Dewey/Gale always had that on and off again relationship. But Sidney and Gale were never close they always had Dewey has the middle person. With Dewey being gone, it gives them that chance. For those who don't believe that Amber could kill Dewey because of being a girl and due to her size. Dewey was doing good with hand on hand contact. Then he went back and got distracted by his phone ringing. That's the only reason Amber was able to get the upper hand cause he was off guarded. Also, don't forget Dewey has nerve damage/limp, in his 50s, is a drinker now, hasn't stayed active at all, and depression. He wasn't exactly in a good mental state at all. He knew he wouldn't be able to handle it this time around and wasn't going to, but after talking with Sidney, he changed his mind and tried to help. Also, Dewey was never lifted off the ground. Because of the discomfort of both knifes going up in his sternum and back he was following the direction of the knife so he himself was going up on to his toes and then was going down to his knees. Also, the way ghostface was with Sam on the phone trying to make her choose between Tara and Richie, that's something Amber would do. It was her way of proving that Sam was "selfish" and didn't care about her sister.

It’s funny how at the end Cojo keeps asking, “Where’s MINDY?” “But WHERE’S MINDY THOUGH?” 😂

So many people have been confused with the whole Billy storyline, thinking he's portrayed as a ghost or someone with redeeming qualities. That wasn't the case. I liked the idea that she was taking medication because she was having hallucinations of her father, and the pills started to ware off where it was working anymore. (My guess is Richie tampered with them). This was her dealing with the fact that he is her father and afraid of turning into him. But in order for her to go into survival mode, she had to accept of being his daughter and let that in instead of burying it. We were watching her dealing with her mental health and demons. They can do a lot with it in the upcoming Scream movies where she can still use that part of her to survive OR it can make her snap into becoming like her father. It's kind of like how different killers have tried to make Sidney snap mentally due to past trauma (Mickey and Roman), but she always overcame it instead (going to college doing theater, working at a women's crisis hotline, writing a book about overcoming the darkness of trauma and creating a family of her own). So they could take it in the opposite direction for Sam as the main final girl and actually make her snap mentally and become a killer herself. Billy, as a hallucination, was also a good call back to the first Scream when he told Sidney, "It's like Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs, when she keeps having flashbacks of her dead father".

Blake’s literal uncontrolled scream at the 40:30 mark shows precisely how good this film was in creating tension throughout. They were STILL able to jump scare audiences after all these decades! A fantastic addition to this fan favorite franchise. RIP Dewey the GOAT.

If any of you guys haven't seen I Know What You Did Last Summer that might be a good movie for you to watch. It was one of the 90's horror movies that spawned from the success of the original Scream movie.

I watched the movie close to a year ago now. Dewey's death still devastates me to this day. And it always will. Long live Dewey Riley.

I forgot to say the opening scene in this movie when ghost face says 'Christina' that's Sam and Tara's mom, the lady Billy knocked up. The name of Judy's son, WES, was a homage to the late veteran director Wes Craven; this being the first Scream movie which was not directed by him since his death in 2015.

I'D FREAK OUT if you guys reacted to Buffy The Vampire Slayer tv show... It was on tv from 1996 until its last episode in 2003 so there's a lot to unpack. PLEASE make it a series with the four of you guys, you're my favorite line up on this channel. You guys never cease to make me laugh, and well, lets face it... I can pretty much watch Blake react to anything. It could be him staring at a wall, I'll watch it. The beauty-- the glory.

Dewey mentions Sydney's partner Mark (that would be Mark Kincaid the cop from Scream 3 played by Patrick Dempsey). The new writers wanted to shake up the franchise by killing one of the three original characters. This film was very much a love letter to Wes Craven as the directing duo of Radio Silence wanted to be filmmakers because of him and the Scream franchise. The writers/directors had more of a free reign for Scream VI because of the success of this movie. Jenna Ortega was amazing in this movie, especially in the opening scene, and does get a bit more to do in the next movie and has an actual character arc.

I think Amber being torched and coming back to life screaming must be a nod to "Once upon a time in Hollywood". Same actress gets the same death pretty much. She is torched by a flamethrower in that one. And yes it's sad AF to lose Dewey 😞

Fun Facts: 1. The Original Scream cast did voice overs Drew Barrymore (Casey Becker) was the principal on the intercom in the beginning. Also, yes Matthew Lillard (Stu) was the one in the RU-vid channel doing the medal ghostface voice and at the party he's the one that said " Cool house" to Amber when she was walking through. Jamie Kennedy (Randy) was the one who made the comment about the "some goofy ass dad is here kicking everyone out." Hayden (Kirby), principal Himbry, and others from the franchise were part of the "For Wes" when they cheered. 2. Also, on that RU-vid channel, the first thumbnail clip on the side of the screen it was an Easter egg that confirmed Kirby survived from Scream 4. It was her doing an interview about being a survivor. Then below hers on the bottom, there's another clip asking if Stu Macher is still alive or not, lol. Kirby and Stu had been a HUGE debate with the fans whether or not they both survived. So they confirmed it with Kirby, but with Stu, they gave us a teaser. 3. When Chad picked up the candle stick as a weapon, it was a reference to when Sidney grabbed a candle stick in Scream 3 to defend herself with Roman. 4. Sidneys husband Mark is Detective Mark Kincaid from Scream 3. 5. Wes Hicks Kill Scene, where he closed the front door. No one told Dylan that ghostface would be behind him in that scene, so his reaction to it was legit, lol. 6. Even though Mindy said to Wes about his mom being safe but yet they got killed anyway. Two reasons: 1st is they killed the Sherrif and her son as a decoy/distraction to lure the cops away from the hospital their main target was Tara. 2nd reason they killed off Wes, who is a reference for "Wes Craven," it was their way of having a memorial for Wes Craven in the movie. He died a few years after he made the 4th, so this one was like a love letter to him 8. At the hospital, when GF appeared behind Richie, he got his arm sliced similar to when Jill got hers sliced by GF in Scream 4.

I hate that Kyle Gallagher played “Vince”, Stu Macher’s nephew in “SCREAM 5” and they didn’t flesh out his character enough. Seems too important of a character to not give him enough screen time.

I really liked how this movie called out "Toxic Fandom" (which most definitely does exist).

😢 - The only solace I've been able to get from Dewey's death is that he died after helping Sam save her little sister. Which is poetic, in a way, because his little sister (Tatum) died in Scream 96. She could've been saved by someone, potentially. I'm sure Dewey felt guilty and partially blamed himself for her death. This setup was his chance to prevent someone else from going through the same thing. I'm incredibly sad that he died, but appreciated that he died saving Tara and Sam. He died as the hero he wanted to be throughout the entire Scream franchise. Awesome reaction!! That edit on Hughie's laptop was EPIC 💙 PS: I'm with Blake, again, Scream 5 is in last place on my list of the first 5 films. Excited for y'all to react to 6! 👍

Its okay, Cojo, I cried too, along with the rest of the entire theater I was watching Scream 5 in. When we got to Dewey's last stand, I cried for a minute. That scene is so sad. David Arquette says he wishes he could have been in Scream 6 and had he known about the plans for it he may have had that be his last Scream movie. I think it would have been really cool to see Gale and Dewey living in NYC and then hearing about the attacks on the news and their reactions, if they had any kids, etc.

On a side note I'm guessing Corey is either a filmmaker, photographer or graphic designer because his attention to detail is crazy.

Amber by far out of all the movies I least expected especially with the way she revealed it. I was so used from the past movies the killer revealing themselves by saying something or act crazy before they either shot someone or stab them, yet Amber just nonchalantly and in a very cold tone says “i know” and then proceeds to shoot Liz in the face 💀

The way this film calls out emotionally underdeveloped gatekeepers in fandoms is gold!

Even if some people knew that Amber was the killer her reveal still got a genuine surprised reaction. "I know." BAM!!! "WHOA!!!!" O_O LOL!

I love the opening of this movie, Jenna Ortega was amazing. She has more to do in the next movie. If you go back to the scene with Richie watching the Stab 8 review there's an Easter egg about Scream 4. You guys should react to the director's previous movie Ready Or Not (2019) starring Samara Weaving.

The Paranormal Activity franchise would send Blake into therapy. So would the TV series Haunting of Hill House.

I wish we got the alternate scene for We's's death. It originally played out a lot differently, with him being chased into a Halloween 2018 emergency basement and having ghostface crash through a skylight.

I was so excited to see Blake's reaction to the whole bait scene before Wes' death. I knew he would have his eyes covered all the time lol I LOVE this movie and it was the first Scream film I got to see in theaters. Back when S4 dropped I was 17 and wasn't allowed in. One major complaint most people have with it is that there are no chase scenes. Ghostface is sneaky here and always gets people surprised behind their backs. I honestly think it's a nice change. Scream 6 however has some of the BEST chase scenes in the franchise. By the way, Scream 6 has a post-credit scene! Try to remember that and not miss it. As always, another great reaction, guys! I'll be rewatching it like I've done with all the others. Always a pleasure to watch my favorite franchise with you!

It’s interesting that so many people think of Jack Quaid as a “good guy” because of The Boys but the first thing I saw him in was The Hunger Games where he was a gleeful killer. The filmmakers left bigger hints in this movie than in the previous sequels because the original Scream had so many hints to the killers. They had to keep writing fake scripts and different endings because spoilers were such a problem with the sequels. But 5 really went back to basics.

After Scream 6, you should do the newest Halloween trilogy (you’ve already done the original and these are a direct continuation to that film)

I literally exclaimed, “Yay!” out loud when I saw that you guys uploaded this! Hahaha. I’ve just _really_ enjoyed rewatching this franchise (My favorite franchise, btw.) with you guys!! I’m especially excited for y’all’s Scream 6 reaction as I absolutely LOVED it. (To be fair, I actually love all 6 films. Scream 6 just happens to cater to most of my personal preferences and its weaknesses aren’t points that I particularly care about as much.) Though it is pretty bittersweet as once you guys have reacted to it then you’re done! (Oh well. All good things come to an end. lol.) Also, just FYI, Roger L Jackson did, in fact, do ghostface’s voice in all 6 films!

I loved this sequel it’s grows on me every time I watch it. All the Easter eggs from the franchise and homage to Wes Craven. As someone who saw the original in 96/97 7 times in theaters, it lives up. You should absolutely watch Wednesday.

Okay, this movie was actually good. This movie had a lot of gruesome deaths but a lot of great acting/actors. Honestly I wasn't expecting to see Wednesday Addams and Clay Jensen in this one but they were great as Tara and Wes. It has lots of Nostalgia and it was a shock to see who the Ghostfaces were BUT I think Scream 1 will be and will always be the best-what started it all. The mask is so iconic.. And great reaction guys!

When they were filming this, David Arquette gathered the new cast members and they did a viewing of the original Scream. Apparently, he even taught them how to paint during film breaks. I love that. That look of absolute shock on Blake's face after Dewey died was absolutely the look on my face when I saw it in theaters. But add tears. I couldn't believe it when it happened. Then I read about David Arquette and Courtney Cox admitting how that final conversation between Dewey and Gale was actually really cathartic for the both of them IRL as well and how they had to do multiple takes because they got so emotional each time and it just made it sadder. (Also sad is that David Arquette revealed he had zero heads up that Dewey was going to die until he read the scene and realized that's why his previous scenes were so good. He also revealed since he's a pro wrestler, they made the fight scene more intense and there's no stunt double for him in it.) This one was another full of nostalgia when it came out. It'd been a long damn time since we'd had a new Scream movie so for the final bit to be set at Stu's house? Fantastic. (And I love the way they cut away to a new scene before Tara can give the address so we don't know.) If you ever go to a Scream movie forum and see comments by someone named Stabhead, those are actually comments by Jack Quaid who went on there and commented as if he were Richie. And he got to actually be in the Ghostface costume during the attack on Mindy! And one last fun trivia bit - Chad's character was like Dewey's in the first Scream. They were both supposed to die in the original scripts but it was changed because the characters were so well liked by the filmmakers. If I remember right, Mason Gooding got their attention because he wrote his thesis on Scream or something along those lines. Sorry, I wrote novel comments lol. I just love sharing trivia with people!

After Alien and Scream, what other saga do you intend to react? I recommend this one called: V/H/S, an anthology franchise in Found Footage containing 6 films, some crazier than others, if you like horror anthologies, this one is definitely worth checking out.

The Scream franchise is the only film franchise I have seen every single film in the theaters (forgive me if I've said the same thing on previous reaction videos) - but THIS one was the first time I cried at a Scream movie. It wasn't just Dewey's death, but the following reaction from Gale that just got me so hard. And knowing their personal history and how long they both played these characters - this was such an emotional film. And of course, the vindication of Sidney handing the gun to Gale to kill Amber was so satisfying. Can''t wait for your Scream 6 reaction!

Idk for me, as much as I love Dewey, I LOVE that they had the balls to kill him off. And I’m really glad they didn’t succumb to bad writing by shoehorning Sidney back to Woodsboro bc Dewey dying is truly the only way she ever returns. Can’t wait for the next one!

I lot of people suspected Amber was one of the killers going in since she famously played one of the Manson killers in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. During filming the producers played the original movie for the cast on the indoor set of Amber's house. They all laid out on the front lawn and watched the movie together..😊

Love how quick Amber was locked in, my brother and I called Amber and Ritchie when their characters first met in the hospital! The way they greeted each other and the look in their eyes made us think immediately "this isn't the first time they've met, they gotta be the killers."

I don't know if you guys noticed but when Richie is watching RU-vid videos about the Stab movies, one of the thumbnails to the side said "Interview for Woodsbrow survivor Kirby Reed". So Kirby from the 4th movie is still alive!

OH YEAHHH!! I rewatched scream 5 recently it was actually the first movie i watched in 2024 and i actually loved it way more than i did last time i rewatched. Dewey’s death is devastating but i’m content with how they went about it. I LOVED amber as ghostface she’s one of my favs and i loved the new characters! Chad and mindy were my favs! I love sam as a final girl as well. Overall i loved scream 5!

Scream 2022 has also got voice cameos by Drew Barrymore (Casey Cooper), Matthew Lillard (Stu Macher) & Jamie Kennedy (Randy) in it!! 🤯 Barrymore is (the Woodsbro High school principal) heard on the tannoy at the school when the cast are sitting on the bench. Mathew Lillard's voice is the chrome Ghostface in the Stab 8 review on youtube & finally it's Jamie Kennedy's voice as the one who says "Someone's goofy ass dad is kicking us out" at the party

Billy is Sam's hallucination and only appears in the mirror (Skeet Ulrich shot his scenes in one day). This is Sam’s version of Billy and is not at all redeeming the character in any way or saying that Sam is going to turn out like him (although she didn't have to go that hard on stabbing Richie and wiping the blood off her knife like Ghostface). I just think it's a way of acknowledging where she comes from and even her embracing her dark side but ultimately that's not the side she chooses to follow. Fun fact: Both Dewey and Judy were supposed to be killed off in the first movies in which they appeared but due to script changes both of their characters were spared. The scene between Dewey and Gale led to "a lot of tears" as the two actors had been married and divorced in real life. Dylan Minnette's reaction to seeing GF was genuine as the filmmakers sneaked the killer into a take where he wasn't expected to be. Minette also hadn't seen the GF costume yet so he was legitimately surprised. To prepare for his role of Richie, Jack Quaid created a Reddit account and posted a rant about Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (directed by Knives Out guy Rian Johnson), which he wrote in-character. Quaid later said that unlike Richie, he loved the film and he found it heart-warming to see people responding to his post to defend the movie. When GF calls Tara, he pretends to be her mum's friend from AA (called Charlie like one of the killers in Scream 4). Later, Richie and Amber reveal that they know Sam's true identity because her and Tara's mum mentioned it while drunk at a bar. Amber's house is indeed Stu's house. Richie needs Sam and Tara to go the house because that's where they set the trap. Amber attacks Chad but she isn't afraid of being caught; she sees Richie's car arriving and knows that's her cue to start clearing out the party, which forces her to leave Chad instead of finishing him off. Sid's line "I'm Sidney fucking Prescott, of course I have a gun" was Neve Campbell's idea. In the original, Billy alludes to him and Sid being together for about two years, so it's safe to assume he cheated on her with Sam and Tara's mother. Chad was initially written to have died following his attack. However, the actor Mason Gooding (son of Cuba Gooding Jr.) was so well received by the filmmakers they wrote his character surviving in the final scene. Some easter eggs/references: Sam Carpenter's name is a nod to Halloween and Psycho. Wes is obviously named after Wes Craven as this movie is literally his Memorial Party. At the very end there is a sound bite of birds chirping. This is due to the fact that in his free time Craven was an avid bird watcher and enthusiast. Furthermore, this particular bird is a whippoorwill - a psychopomp which guides souls to the afterlife. Liv's last name is McKenzie. In the original Scream, Casey Becker lived next door to "the McKenzies". Plus, Jamie Lee Curtis' character in Halloween tells the kids she’s babysitting to "go down the street to the McKenzies house” AND in H20 she tells her son to drive down to the Beckers and call for help. Jenna Ortega was used in the opposite manner Drew Barrymore was used in the marketing for the original - she was not in the front of the poster and only one scene she's in is shown in the trailer (a scene mirroring Drew's in the original, right up to the point where Tara is playing with knives just like Casey). Plus, this was before Wednesday so she wasn't even a household name yet. While Dewey is watching Gale's show she jokes about not having bangs again, which is a reference to her infamous hairstyle in Scream 3 that fans still talk about to this day. Fans have often criticised Dewey's apparent lack of grief for his sister, Tatum, since the character was hardly mentioned in the sequels. However this one finally pays tribute to Tatum by showing a box of her ashes displayed in Dewey's trailer, next to a photo of him and Gale. Well done Blake for noticing that! The writers confirmed Sidney's husband "Mark" is Mark Kincaid, the detective in Scream 3. Neve Campbell didn't even know until after making the movie and thought it was funny because she portrayed Patrick Dempsey's sister on Grey's Anatomy in between Scream 3 and 5. In the original when Sidney says she is haunted by her mother's murder Billy says "It’s like Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs when she keeps having flashbacks of her dead father". Sam is Jodie Foster and Billy is her dead father. When Tara is in the hospital she is watching Dawson's Creek, a show created by Scream writer Kevin Williamson. The episode she is watching, titled “The Scare” (S01E11), is an homage to Friday the 13th and involves the characters being creeped out by rumours of a serial killer on the loose in their small town. Joshua Jackson (one of the guys in Randy's film class in Scream 2) played one of the main characters on the show. On top of that, the clip used features Scott Foley (Roman/GF in Scream 3) who guest starred in a few episodes. When Richie is watching a video about Stab 8, the top recommended video is "Interview with Woodsboro survivor Kirby Reed", confirming that Kirby did indeed survive the last movie (Furthermore, in a deleted scene there is a missing poster of Kirby briefly visible). Another video with the title "Did the real-life Stu Macher survive?" is a reference to how often the idea of bringing the character back has been teased as a possibility in the series despite his apparent death. In fact, an early draft of the Scream 3 script had Stu return as a killer before the infamous rewrites. The way Richie gets slashed in the arm at the hospital is very similar to how Jill was slashed in the arm in Scream 4. Both were revealed to be the killers, and purposely orchestrated these injuries with their partner to make them look innocent. The directors and co-writers call it the "Jerry O'Connell Scream 2 defensive wound" because Derek (Sidney's boyfriend in Scream 2) had the same one, but in his case he actually was innocent. Richie's "Did you just hit me with a phone?!" to Tara in the hospital is a reference to Matthew Lillard's improvised line in the first movie. Other attacks that are a nod to the original is Chad's attack outside mirroring Casey's and Mindy's shoulder injury mirroring her uncle Randy's first wound (Mindy's attack parallels her uncle's attack right down to the color scheme of their outfits - both are wearing a light green top and brown pants). Judy and Wes' murders most likely serve as a distraction to get the cops away from the hospital, similar to how the principal's murder in the original lured everyone at the party to the school. Speaking of Judy, the lemon squares she mentions are the same iconic ones she kept making for Dewey and which Gale said "tasted like ass". At the end of Scream 2, Cotton Weary joked that Gale had "more lives than a cat" and, in this movie, Dewey reveals that he has been stabbed a total of nine times. Dewey finally dies when he is stabbed for the tenth time, suggesting Scream characters' survival rates align with the legend of cats' lives. Drew Barrymore, Matthew Lillard, Jamie Kennedy and Henry Winkler from the original all have voice cameos during the party (Lillard delivers a very meta line "Cool house Freeman!" during Amber's party, which is being held at his character's house). He also does the voice of flamethrower GF "This shit is lit" in Stab 8 and Drew Barrymore is the principal making announcements right after Tara is attacked. Times when the movie alludes to the real killers: Before Richie introduces himself to Amber at the hospital, he covertly glances in Sam's direction to make sure that she is still fooled into believing that he and Amber are total strangers. Richie's “I’ll be right back” is like Stu in the original (plus, Randy was Mindy’s uncle). When Sam gets a call from GF in the hospital break room, her caller ID says "Maybe: Amber Freeman". Richie watching the first Stab movie in the hospital room seems like a very insensitive action for Sam's supposedly caring boyfriend, but in hindsight, the character is most likely mocking the sisters for failing to work out that he is one of the killers. Richie's reveal as one of the killers marks the third time in the series that the killer is played by a member of a famous acting family. Jack Quaid is the son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan (the latter mentioned in the original). In Scream 4, the killers were played by Emma Roberts, daughter of Eric Roberts/niece of Julia Roberts and Rory Culkin, brother of Macaulay & Kieran Culkin. Amber's death is similar to Mikey Madison's character's death in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (where she plays a member of the infamous Manson family). Furthermore, Amber's burnt face is not only a reference to Freddy Krueger but the special effects team went so far as to replicate the exact prosthetic style of his gruesomely burnt ears. Sam spotting the umbrella is a callback to when Sid used one to stab Billy.
