the first is always number 1 thank you Sir for the footprints you left behind don't hide it too much, the church Saint Michael you said to Stanley GOD SPEED
Ok boomer. We don’t have the class ur generation had because were busing saving the planet maybe from ur irresponsible selfish behaviour? Yeah that planet babes, the one u abused.
What a treasure. We learned so much from this man. We learned so much about dignity, humor, ethics, fun. The Bond movies, PLUS. He didn't mind singing, in Bond, Highlander, Dragonheart. Wow. RIP, Sir Sean. Thanks for all of your gifts.
@@manofbeard No no. Keep your dummy in. What he said was that there are worst things than a slap on the face. For example, psychological bullying for years, (now known as Coercive Control), is far far worse. Not only was he right, the law, (at least in England and Wales), now recognises that he was right. Time to put you dummy back in now.
Nahh, press was just kept at a further distance to retain access. We have a similar thing going on now. For ex: corporate press gives crap movies good reviews, or changes how people can vote/rate/review and they won't cover items like famous people in Epstein's ledgers...etc
Dr. No (1962) is my sentimental favorite. My parents took me to see that film when I was six. My contemporaneous memories of the event includes Quarrel, Ursula Andress' conch shells, the 'dragon' and the bits involving rocketry 🚀 . I even remember where we went to dinner before the movie. My parents could have left me with a relative to look after me but with their decision to take me along the die was cast and I was a James Bond movie admirer for life.
Dr. No had it all, including that brutal takedown of Professor Dent, amazing result on a tight budget. I thought From Russia With Love was a bit more epic though, except for that background music which went on a bit too long in one part.
@@jjryan1352 From Russia with Love is another close second. I forgot about it. Those early Bond Movies with Sean Connery were great. I liked Roger Moore as well.
@@antrimlariot2386 guess it went over your head, Jimmy Boy. He was speaking to how fake and artificial today's entertainment/media industry has become. I agree.
Feels like yesterday when I was still watching his last few movies as they were being released. When you're a kid, you always think grownups are silly for saying that time passes too quickly. Little do you know.
I like the sound of Johnny Carson's voice. It's that type of voice where it's so distinctive, he could have you invested in any subject and you'd be hooked. Great talent. Sorely missed. And Sean Connery. 2 words....Irreplaceable Legend.
Yep...late night talk shows died when he died. No one excelled in being a talk show host since. They are all just wannabees. Johnny was the gold standard...
I think the problem of playing Bond is balancing his suave, charming side to his dangerous side. So, then the Bond that is portayed is either a lady's man or a cold-blooded killer, one side overpowers the other too often than not, and the other is neglected. Connery probably did it best with James Bond, women were very drawn to him, but they also knew they were in trouble if they ever dared to go against him
All late night used to do political jokes in the monologue and make fun of Presidents, but it was in good fun and not mean-spirited and bitter like today.
@@VideoAmericanStyle Many of the other talk show hosts of that time and before talked about politics and serious topics on their shows. To pretend that The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was representative of TV a the time just demonstrates that they have no understanding of the history of the medium or the format. Sean Connery was political. He still advocates from an independent Scotland.
We basically grew up watching all his movie.from james bond to leaque of the gentlemen.his presence on the screen alway electritified the audiences.to hear him pass away. Is like part of you being torn away from your body. We shall miss him.
Could there be more coolness in one space? Two class acts at the tops of their respective games, and the mutual respect is palpable. My childhood was full of older male celebrities with white hair. Carson. Connery. Steve Martin. Leslie Nielsen. Peter Graves. Phil Donahue. At least we have Ted Danson today being proud of his white hair, especially when his shock of dark hair has been so iconic.
I was in Downtown Vegas and saw them do shots for Diamonds Are Forever, also in that movie is the Great Zamboro scene, where inside Circus Circus was a novelty act where a women tranforms into a Gorilla. I saw that act in person, I was up close, and it was impossibble to tell how it was done, and I hate to admit it but as I was 16 at the time I was one of those who ran out in fear, it was that realistic, and well done.
"Never Say Never Again" was excellent! A terrific return, and one of his best, after "From Russia With Love." Waited for years for it to arrive, and it did, despite Eon's efforts to block it. Cheers! Carson was superb at this, with a gift for making guests feel at home. And Connery was relaxed and humourous here.
Depth of character was first and foremost back then. Depth of special effects/stunts is first and foremost now. I prefer Old School...Sean = BEST BOND. Don't believe me? Watch youtube opening scene from Dr. No - first time the words "Bond. James Bond" were uttered as that theme song crept up in the background. Still gives chills.
What I admired about Sean Connery is that he had a 'no-nonsense, don't come around me with any crap' vibe & persona. No wonder he played James Bond with such style, ease and grace. May he rest in peace!
Please put up any interviews of Arlene Francis or where she subs for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show! I recently discovered her on What's My Line videos on RU-vid! What a beautiful soul!! I love that show What's My Line!!
When Talk Shows were actually FUN. Watching grown ups behaving like grown ups and having fun like grown ups and still having lots of mutual respect for each other. I was born in the wrong generation… But i'm glad Sean Connery has been a vital part of my happy times and joyful side of life since i was a kid. Not just as James Bond but especially in his post-Bond roles. God bless this Scottish gentleman.
Just the BEST HANDS DOWN! I saw Dr. No as a boy when it came out and that for me was it. It was 38 years later I had my first son and I named my son after Sean Thomas Connery! Though the years in between, Sir Connery had shown an intolerance for BS that out did my own and that is why I named my son after him. I have attempted to instruct my son in the ANTI-BS SCHOOL OF HIGHER ACHIEVEMENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE! THANK YOU, SIR CONNERY FOR BEING AN INSPIRATION TO A YOUNG BOY DATING BACK TO 1962!!
I don't really have a favorite Bond actor. All of them were good. The best were Connery and Roger Moore. They played the character during a an era when the Cold War was on and I guess it made it the storyline more intriguing.
@@seandempsey9396 she is swiss, not anglosaxon. I never would have assumed that. But with him, it is great we heard him singing personally. Bond even can sing.
