Watching this after 9 years and it’s more relevant than EVER. If only HQ followed this ethos and the trickle down effect to newer viewers would have been greater. Greater protection of the affiliates and community. The affiliates will survive because, using this model, their community will last.
Great speech! Long story short I bought tickets and saw the 2015 Crossfit games with my older brother and we had a great time! At the airport on my way home I ran into some Crossfit women, they happened to be on the same flight! It turns out they competed in the team Crossfit games! I was so excited to ask them questions! They answered my questions but they seemed disappointed and embarrassed they didn't win? How is that? You made it to ESPN and your not satisfied? It blew my mind! I could tell their box was nothing but competition and little community! They had zero fun the entire time! I felt more like a winner just watching the competition in person! If you don't have fun during competitions, you'll feel like a loser! And feeling like a loser is much worse than losing while having fun.
Funny, I just watched another video of lady opening her gym and her goal was to send people to the games, quite refreshing to hear it's more about the community then it is send competitors to the games.
