Seiko SBDC061 Marine Master 200 | First Look

Personally I love that hour hand,at night without my glasses it's highly legible, it's a phenomenal piece, I got lucky and have zero alignment issues, absolutely love mine.

Had mine about 3 months now love it more every day!

Such a beautiful watch... I want hopefully I'll be able to purchase one before the end of the year.

That is lovely timepiece, gorgeous finish, just the right size for my 7.5 inch wrist. You could easily have a 20 plus collection of quality Seiko divers.

This watch is a beauty, we know seiko isn't the best for quality bracelets but the watch is quality and it makes up for it. The bracelet looks nice though it has to be said.

Nice review/video! I just received mine in the mail two days ago. Goodness it's beautiful. Stock bracelet for now; may pick up an Uncle Seiko waffle rubber strap to change things up a bit. Needless to say this will be getting a lot of wrist-time.

My sbdc063 (blue bezel insert) has a 120 click bezel

I wasn't too interested in this one when the pictures came out but seeing it in this video changed that, looks really nice. I have a newer Tuna with those same hands and while I like them I'm not sure I can have two seiko divers with the same look to the dial.

That Chapter ring looks misaligned to me too !!!......I have one incoming from Germany sometime in July.....It will go straight back to the retailer unless everything is spot on !. Seiko have got to up their game, far to sloppy....Beautiful piece though, fingers crossed mine has no issues !

How would you stack this 061 up, against a Longines Hyrdoconquest (the 44mm), in terms of fit and finish and overall value for price? Longines runs a bit more in price, but slightly higher beat rate, 64h PR, 300m WR. Any thoughts?

Bought the SPB051J1 yesterday, will get it next week. The SPB077J1 is the international equivalent for this one? The reason I bought the SPB051 was the size, 42.6mm compared to the SPB077J1 which got a 44mm diameter...

Hello I’ve recently bought the marine master 200 ... (061) but the stock metal bracket doesn’t seem to fit my wrist comfortably. Will strap code 20mm oyster bracelets fit the watch?... thanks

It’s the same as the SBDC models except the hour markers are round. Any other differences to note?

Looks like a hybrid of a sumo and a marinemaster. I'd like to have seen a 300m rated model. I suppose it makes sense if you missed out on the SBDX017(hand style notwithstanding) and want that kind of vibe on a budget.

What is the quality like is it up there with the sbdc053? Also is it the same size this watch is intriguing

they really need to start putting in a different movement at these price points. I love me a 6R15 (have 2) but 6bps and 50hr PR isnt exactly hard to accomplish these days. Hamiltons powermatic is superior and costs the same or less?

Just a tip for you Seiko lovers out there. You can get this watch and the shogun for around $700 if you go to japan and buy it at bic camera (electronics store). You get tax free with passport and 5% off with visa. After the conversion rates, the shogun costs roughly $725 USD. Save your money till your next japan trip.

great review, looks really good on your wrist. I love the coin edge bezel and actually like the bracelet, don't usuall like them. Wish they would include a rubber strap, i guess you could buy the MM rubber.

I was hesitant to purchase one of these because I own a Sumo but I have to say the 61 beats the Sumo hands down. The bracelet is much better, it has sapphire crystal and a lacquered bezel with much nicer font. It also wears smaller and is more comfortable due to the lower profile on the wrist. The case has a nicer design and flows into the braclet more attractively, the watch is also protected with diashield. Not Zaratsu but it does seem little better polished than my Sumo. The lume is also much better with the same compound as my Tuna Marinemaster. I love the twelve o'clock marker it's almost identical to the MM300 and the indices have that the hand painted lume look to them. Got mine in the UK for just under £700 with a 3 year warranty. So it was double the price I paid for the Sumo but in my opinion it's a much nicer watch with a warranty from an authorised Seiko dealer. Mike I hope you managed to get the QC problems you highlighted in your later video sorted. 👍

Seems like you wear that Tudor over the Rolex. Are you saving the Rolex or just prefer the Tudor as a daily watch?

Watch is beautiful but too big for my tiny wrist. Im a small guy and the sarb035 fits perfectly on me and thats only a 38 if im correct this being a 33 would be huge lol. Wish they make this but smaller size :/

A nice watch, maybe a hair too big. And that hour hand doesn’t do much for me. Still, not bad. I wouldn’t be bothered to upgrade to it from a standard skx tho

Yikes, that bezel action looks really light. Not sure I'm going to like that at all since I prefer a fair amount of resistance. Beautiful piece other than that. Think I'll order one from Amazon Prime and check one out !!

My bezel is extremely stiff and literally painful to operate. I’ve had multiple micros and Seikos and a Tudor diver and nothing comes close to this stiff. Reputable seller suggests it’s definitely not faulty so I don’t know what gives lol

Saw your review and got myself one (SPB079) the following day at around HKD4,600 (USD 600). There are misaligned issues, but cant really do a lot about it now. Overall the profile looks very smart and fit my wrist (6.5 inch) very well. I also have a Samurai, but it is more of an weekend watch, but the MM200 could double as an office/weekend watch as well.

This watch has some things I like about it over the Sumo and somethings I like about the Sumo better, but my issue with this watch is the price. Is it worth about $900, probably. But is it worth double the Sumo, no (in my opinion). And this is something Seiko has been getting away from is value. This is also seen in the transition from Sarb to Sarx models. Are the new Sarx worth it, yes. Are they worth double and triple a Sarb, I dont think so in my opinion. Now this would all be different if they put their new 8 bps movement in all these ~$1k watches but the 6R can be purchased in much more affordable models (which are being phased out of the lineup and replaced with 4R movement watches).

Is it better on the wrist compared to SBDC051? I think it might be. Just not sure if its too big this model.

The chapter ring is misaligned compared to the hour markers. Really obvious too.

sbdc051 is more distinctive with flat profile so it is good for dress up and down.. this one is like common divers turtle/sumo watch

Everything is perfect except the hands don't look like a matching set. That hour hand is odd. Otherwise perfect watch.

I bought mine from the AD, haven't pulled the trigger impulsively in years, the watch looked great. Couple of days later noticed the misalignment. I use BFK SKA371 for diving, and it has a minor misalignment, but at 300 USD that is OK. This is a 1200 USD watch, no tolerance for errors here. I took the watch to back to the AD raised hell, got refund. Complained to Seiko Japan, no reply. I was contemplating a Grand Seiko, but after this disappointment, this is the last Seiko that I will buy. EVER!

Nice watch but Seiko have so many models that look similar to each other and using the same hand design it’s getting silly and tiresome. Don’t get me wrong I love Seiko but won’t be buying another unless something a bit different comes out and don’t even get me started on bezel and chapter ring alignment.
