One year after the awesome first time staying at the Tunnel Inn in Gallitzin, PA during the Easter long weekend, I returned! It was also awesome to know that my birthday (turning 39) fell on Good Friday, so I got to celebrate it by railfanning.
Train action overall on Good Friday was pretty busy especially later in the afternoon and early evening with a little eastbound traffic jam built up. During the morning hours, a few westbound trains used main 1 "aka the slide" up the New Portage Tunnel in Gallitzin, PA. It was possible when NS upgraded mains 1 & 3 bi-directional between Altoona & South Fork (CP-SO) back in 2019 (used to be eastbound on main 1 & westbound on main 3), and in my opinion was one thing that NS did right. This was also my first time returning to the overbridge location at Summerhill, PA, which I have for years not been to ever since the automatic 263 signal bridge was removed (cab signaling).
