After being pretty much couch/ bed ridden for 5 years from illness ( cancer and Achilles injuries) and having gained 40 lbs., I decided today to try to get back into shape slowly and this is the video that I chose. I couldn't be more appreciative! I can hardly walk and I lasted the entire workout( without accessories). I hope that this is the beginning of my journey back to the life of the living. I love the music too!
Szenzációs! Köszönet Neked! Változatos, követhető, az egész testet átmozgatja. Tartalmaz bemelegítést és levezetést, sőt még egy kis meditációt is. Mégegyszer köszönöm!🥰🙏✌
Loved this workout! I don’t know where I was-- just found her and did the workout! It felt so right! Thank you, Tona and thank you, Marcia! God bless!😍🙏👍
Tono's workouts are all really great for a full workout of all muscle groups. She has really kept me going through these long weeks of lockdown and raised my spirits too. Many thank you Tono.
Hi Sylvia, I'm so happy that you have found me and that my class and I are keeping you moving.😊Just wanted to let you know that I am live on my channel, Tona Barnes, at 10:30AM est. Tuesday through Friday. You just need to subscribe.💪🏻❤️🎶
Soooo glad I found the Tona fitness videos ! This is so similar to my community fitness class routine which is only 2 days a week, less if holiday, leader vacation or weather. So Tona is my set-up at home to do anytime. A cable connects my laptop computer to my TV for great big quality. Really outstanding all-around fitness with a pleasant upbeat leader and low-key (not screaming) music. I began the fitness 2 years ago, it cured my frozen shoulder and now keeps me healthy. So THANK YOU. FYI I'm 71. Still can't quiet get the chair exercise where you stand up a little.
This is great! I am so happy these videos work for you! Hopefully we will be putting together more in the near future. Keep that body in Motion! Take care and wishing you the best in health! Tona
I am a new Silver Sneakers Instructor, and was looking for class design ideas. Someone recommended your channel. This was the best resource I have come across yet. Thank you so much for your amazing classes!
Thank You for your kind words. You may want to subscribe directly to Tona Barnes' Channel. She's been doing live classes for months. So much to choose from!!:)
Hi Tina Thank you for your senior fitness, I exercise just 10mn every day and I feel so good. I am almost 96yrs old And I don't need canne to walk le bui
This is a challenging class for any age! Wow! What an impressive group you have! I haven't seen a senior fitness class that weaved consistent cardio in with weight work - not just weight work, but compound weight work! Very impressive stuff!
I have lost count how many times I have enjoyed this work out. The only one that I really enjoy doing. Thank you so much for sharing this, I really, really appreciate it.
After 2 months of near isolation due to Corona, accompanied by a strong desire to keep fit, I have exercised using hundreds of different RU-vid videos, in search of one that is comprehensive and challenging, yet appropriate for seniors. This one is perfect! And for icing on the cake..the instructor is lovely and the tunes from our youthful days so much fun! Thank you!
Thank you so much 😊 I'm happy that you have found me and my class and what works for you!💪🏻🎶❤️ If you haven't already, subscribe to my channel Tona Barnes and join us live at 10:30 Monday through Friday!! Be well and stay safe 🙏
God bless you for doing this and sharing it with us. I am over 50 and very out of shape. I have been following this video for the last four days and I am up to eight minutes now. I will continue to do whatever I can every day and increase it when my body is ready. God bless the beautiful participants in your class. They inspire me each time. Especially the beautiful lady in blue.
So much fun for your class. They are grinning ear to ear, especially the lady to your right. She just loves it. Better than any other chair, senior exercise class I have seen. Music makes such a difference to this age group. They are so motivated by you. Thank you for inspiring me for my class and sharing. What a fabulous, professional instructor!!! Harrogate, UK
MJ Fitness Perfect Pilates thank you so much! I absolutely love what I do and my students are like family. They are amazing!! It's a win win all around!!:)
I regularly go to Silver Sneakers. With the recent heat wave, I chose to do this at home in the AC. Loved it. My only complaint is that she nevers sits down until the cool down at the end. I sat when I need to. Her other are more "sitting friendly".
I am 97 years old and i do follow your workout e very day, thank you Tona, it make my body feel food. I have sciatica pain in back and legs, please show what kind of exercise to releive this kind of pain most old people get that. thank you and expecting your reply
I am 97 too and idid exactly like what you did And i have sciatica too, I show you how to releive the pain. You sit down on the chair, two legs wide open and bend down the most you can, count to 10, Repete 10 times everyday After exercise, the pain will be gone, good luck
MIchelle Graham Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover fitness and exercise for seniors try Loctavan Senior Fitness Strategy (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got amazing success with it.
I have been doing Senior Fit over fifty/Enhance/and Silver sneakers, off an on since 04' and because of the Pandemic, I have just done my very first Video class today 12/11/20 and I'm impressed. I plan from here out today till the virus is gone to do your video here along wth a few others a few times a wk. Excellent Classes you have, I wish I cld be in your class. But your Video is the nxt best.
Your workout is wonderful, fun, and inspiring! I teach Silver Sneakers and it reminded me of that format. Thank you for keeping people moving - body, soul and spirit!!
I'm so happy you enjoyed my video!! Thanks for the support! Hopefully we will get another out this fall! Go ahead and check out our 2nd and 3rd! Keep your body in motion!
Köszönöm! Azért ez az egyik kedvenc, mert idősebbek is végig tudják csinálni, emellett tartalmaz erősítő, kardió és " fogyasztó" elemeket is. Bátran próbáljátok ki!🥰👍🙏
What great workout for seniors. I run a community centre and have presently 40 seniors who workout three times a week. Your workout is one of the best I have seen that is suitable for them but also challenges them,
Hi Wes! Happy that you found me and my class! If you want to work out with me live, subscribe to my channel, Tona Barnes, I am on at 10:30 am Monday through Friday est.
So glad I found this and thank you for caring enough to post for us! I'm 60 and over weight and have found this perfect for me. Although it looks easy, its somewhat challenging for me. I didn't think I was that un coordinated until i started this and after my 7th day, I'm really getting it now. I sweat and love it! I live in the country and its far to a workout class for me. Thanks again Tona!
I just started a senior fitness class in a Gym in the Netherlands. You're a great inspiration for me Tona! Thank you for sharing this great and good video. Very good workout
I am seventy and trying to lose some weight and get a little healthier. I almost made it through , but quit at the ball exercises. Will try again tomorrow. thanks for posting.
A wonderful holistic workout that is fun, engaging and adaptable. I teach a senior exercise/movement class in West Devon UK , needed some fresh inspiration (for tomorrow morning!) and came across your video, what fabulous energy you have and the participants are clearly loving it! I have lots of lovely new ideas to weave into my sequences. A BIG thank you Tona!
Thank you for your reply Tona :)That's amazing! I lived near Bideford for a short while as a child whilst my Father was in the Armed Forces. Most recently I have worked as Project Manager for Dance in Devon leading a Dance for Falls Prevention Project in Barnstaple! Lovely to have met you and your great work through the net!
The coronavirus has caused our exercise business to close, so we can't go to to our Silver Sneakers classes. Your videos for seniors are a perfect at home replacement. Thankyou!
HI, I found some of your videos and I'm delighted. I haven't been able to exercise to any depth for about 5 years. I began to finally recover my health this year. It has been a slow process. Now I can do real exercise with you. I can last a little over half of the video before I go to the cool down. I use the lightest of weights and the easiest band, but I'm able to participate! I look forward to the time when I can complete a whole video and then slowly increase my weights.
I loved it! I clicked on the wrong video and ended up here. Glad I did. I subscribed, too. I love the positive energy and focus on the viewer. My boyfriend and I worked out together and committed to staying fit. Getting to the age where touching my toes is an event. I didn't have all the equipment, but found suitable substitutes. I got the same benefit. Love it, love it!
Hi Mary! I am happy you are enjoying these workouts! There are alot more on Tona Barnes' channel. She has been teaching live classes for about 6 months now.
When you do a next one, a need is for the fitness program to alternatively use chairs. I have a hip problem and the strong marching in place is not possible. I have an in-person class that does chair stuff with stretching, resistance bands, hand weights, soft ball. You can choose to stand or sit, instructor shows how to accommodate an exercise for your needs.
Hi Tona, Great workout! I really enjoyed your music selection on here also. I'm a senior fit instructor myself and always looking for new ideas. By any chance, can you tell me what bpm this music playlist is? Thank you!
Hi Katie, I too have RA, and Tona’s classes have been a Godsend for me. I’m the one in all the videos to Tona’s right. I can’t move my arms or head very well, which is why I look so much like a spaz. But I don’t let that stop me from getting my much-needed exercise 3 days a week in Tona’s class. Definitely check out the other 3 videos. If I can do them, so can you.
@@marciasasser9400 awe thank you so much for the encouraging words! I noticed you immediately because of your big, beautiful smile! It made me smile and enjoy the video even more. I will check out her other videos!
Tona, this is a great workout for a beginner. I have been doing other exercises for several months, but I was looking for something more comprehensive. I had a desk job for 35 years and my brain hasn't done any coordinated movements for a long time. I have done the workout a few times and I still find it hard to keep up with the movements. I also see that I have a ways to go for improving my flexibility. I am definitely challenged aerobically. Thank You.
I have never done aerobics in my life, and I'm hopelessly uncoordinated - the only person I know who can do jumping jacks and manage to have each limb going in a different direction (front, up, down, back, in, out, hop, slap myself... how did the Hokey Pokey get in there?). I went looking for aerobics for seniors because I'm 'Not Ready For the Gym' or anything that seems to strenuous or complicated. I found a few videos that were OK... but then came to this one and love it. Other videos had music that was too loud and seemed to have nothing to do with the movements the teacher was making - just distracting. I couldn't hear the instructor or the instructor was at the other side of the room and couldn't really see what she was doing... I'm a very verbal person, so for me, it's the words, not the music that helps. To learn the steps and motions, I have to stop the video and repeat the words to myself and do the moves until my body finally 'gets it' and I can start to do the movement properly (in your other video, I see another woman mouthing the instructions as she goes along - that would be me). I know it will be a long time before I'm as coordinated as the people in the class, but as the instructor said, it works your brain and your body. Just the work of having to be more coordinated than I have to be walking and getting up and sitting down in a chair makes me feel more alert and energized and in control of my body. My overall mood has improved since starting to try to follow this class. I'm really challenged and surprised that I could enjoy exercise: stretching and weights I did before was just so boring. Thanks for this video - it's a life-changer, and I really don't notice the problems with audio that sb else mentioned, maybe because I really need the verbal instructions to keep me on track and the music I sort of tune out (not coordinated; can't dance). This instructors descriptions of what she's doing (pour it out, flashlight, wave me away) really help me 'get' what she's asking me to do, more than if she just showed it.
Blah Blaah, I am thrilled that you are enjoying this work out. The best part is, you have confirmed what I set out to do! You made me tear up! I really enjoy what I do!! Keep it up!:)
A follow-up to my previous comment. I've had a 'tight' left hip for about 15 years (since my late 30s, I think). If I walked quickly or uphill for very long, it would start to ache, and in the past 5 years or so it has got really tight, so that I can't put my left ankle on my right knee without grabbing it and pulling and holding it into place. Since doing these exercises, I have noticed that while it is still tight compared to the right hip, it no longer aches under any circumstances. Also I had trouble with my hands and wrists, due to a hairline fracture (left wrist) and tendinitis (from over-exertion writing by hand after years teaching). I would feel aches in my right hand from using the computer mouse and in my left hand if I moved it 'the wrong way,' as well as having swelling in my hands next morning if I over-did it at the keyboard the previous day. I'm AMAZED that with fairly little time devoted to the wrists and fingers, I only have those problems again if I fall away from keeping up with this workout (and your other one) on a regular basis. I had NO IDEA that this kind of exercise could bring about such improvement in mobility in such a short time. I begin to have hope that I don't 'have to' be 'old and achy' and unable to move by the time I'm 60.
It would be great to have more technique & safety cues. For example when doing squats, keeping the knees tracking over the center of the foot but not going beyond the toes. What muscles do specific exercises work & where do you want to feel it (& where do you not want to feel it). It's also good to remind participants to use their core when exercising & to breathe through out class! I liked some of the ending stretches! :-)
Christina Leclerc thank you. It was my first video and I was a bit nervous. I'd like to think when I'm teaching for real and a bit more relaxed, I tend to cue more for form correction. I appreciate your input!:)
Hi Daphne, The ball is a six inch ball. You can look up pilates ball or yoga ball. You should be able to find what you are looking for. BTW, Tona Barnes has her own channel. You should check it out!:)
