They're amazing. Been listening to their music non stop for months now. If you enjoy instrumentals, Miasma is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth the listen.
Thanks so much Vig. I may listen to that off the channel if that's okay. I like Ghost, but have done three reactions. It may be time to just listen to them for fun.
Ghost is a very eclectic band, with sounds ranging from prog and arena rock to early doom metal to even ABBA and 60s-70's pop, and their themes are just as varied, but usually they take religious and occult themes to make commentary on society, various forms of manipulation, hypocrisy and existentialism. The little sunshine thing is an actual quote from Alesiter Crowley, who compared divinity to sunlight and then said "you can call me Little Sunshine"... also something about a star being within everyone
@@wallbangerreactions If you want to react to a live performance of theirs, I recommend Absolution (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6XvcDp72WWA.html&ab_channel=SixteenRoses). And by the way, the frontman (also the songwriter & composer of the band) is wearing a latex mask on his head, he plays different characters each album cycle!
wow, you spotted so many things in their music, that usually wouldn't be noticed...the metallicas, the grunge...have been saying this for years...they are just incredibly talented at not overexposing their influences!
Great reaction! I like the way you appreciate the music itself. Ghost is a thematic band with lot of nostalgic elements. Really one of my favorites these days. They have a lot of different kinds of songs, from the heaviest to the popiest. I would suggest "CIRICE", "Square Hammer", "From The Pinnacle to the Pit", "Dance Macabre" and "Mary on a Cross".
@@wallbangerreactions Filipe picked some good songs mate, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them as well. I find the band is really hardcore but like 80's hardcore metal lol.
@@wallbangerreactions I'm watching your reaction to Kaisarion now, I don't like that one that much. My friend who went to Seminary school but decided against going into full priesthood said that Ghost's Latin is FANTASTIC and one of the things that turned him onto the band as well lol.
Great reaction :-) Favourite Ghost song for me is "Respite on the Spitalfields" (last song on the new Impera album). It's about the terror caused by serial killer Jack The Ripper in East London. It's fantastic! The production on this album is ridiculous. Every instrument is crystal clear. The song ends with the same guitar loop as in the opening track "Imperium", completing the circle. Perfect!
Thanks. Not sure when I'll hit them up again. If not, I can listen off channel. Once I've hit someone several times, it becomes difficult to "react" as I'm overly familiar. Hope that makes sense. I feel like I know this band by now.
the devil angle of their act is just an act. they remind me of Black Sabbth mixed with Kiss and Alice Cooper. Ghost certainly makes them like they used to if you like the 70s and 80s sound. Kiss was pop rock, Ghost is pop metal
what no one seam to get is "little sunshine" its the lyric that caught my attention because another name for the devil is the morning star, or the star of the morning...how good it is to be a child of the light.....
I discovered Ghost in 2013, with their 2nd album "Infestissumam" and Papa Emeritus II. I was curious as to what type of music they played based on images of the band I found online. I did a quick Google search and found the name of the band. The first song I listened to was "Year Zero", mainly due to the Nine Inch Nails album "Year Zero". I did not expect them to sound the way they did and I listened to both albums that were available and became an instant fan. Each album just got better as they progressed, in my opinion. I can hear influences throughout the last few decades of various types of rock and pop and other genres of music. Tobias Forge (Papa), is an amazing musician, singer, songwriter, and lyricist. I was able to see them live in 2015, in San Antonio, TX, and able to meet the lineup at that time, with Tobias being the only one still a member today.
Peak "do they write and record like they used to" for Ghost may be Absolution. They must have had mid to late 70s prog rock on heavy rotation for a while before they did that one. Bit of a sleeper track for most, if you've got the long term rock ear, you may really dig it.
@@wallbangerreactions also am I crazy or is there some serious Rob Halford influence in the way he says Little Sunshine in the chorus? It's got that same flavor of emphasis and some of the same inflection/accent as Halford growly parts.
You and I seem to be the only people who have said the vocal phrasing at times sounds like Hetfield. And the devil worship stuff is part of the narrative of the band. The band is, essentially, a fictional set of characters pushing forth a fictional worship utilizing Christianity as inspiration. It's not meant to be taken seriously. Even on something like the song "Faith" where they are chanting "HELL SATAN! Archangelo!" it's just part of the story Tobias is telling with this band.
Hell Satan, Archangelo is from the song Year Zero. And hell is in the same mening as the romans said Hell Caesar. Be greated or something like that. Enjoyd the reaction anyway. Greetings from Linköping, Sweden. The hometown of Ghost👍😊
@@troyattard6054 Actually it's Hell Satan. But Hail works just as fine😊👍. Even the pronouncing of the word Satan is in a Latin way. But yeah..a good song🤘
If you want an awesome Ghost video, check out Ghost: Infestissumam/ Per Aspera live Argentina 2014. Their sound absolutely explodes at the beginning. Also, Rammstein have some amazing songs and music videos. Highly recommend.
I will do another Ghost reaction at some point. The two reactions I've done have been very popular. Rammstein I've heard, so not sure I can do an honest reaction. Thanks so much.
50-year old GHOST fan (and high school lit teacher) here. I've seen this band play live 4 times since 2013. "Little Sunshine" is a direct reference to Lucifer Morningstar aka Satan. If you like this, check out their video for Year Zero (about the End Days), or Square Hammer (about Freemasonry)
Yeah. Whichever version I hit, live or studio, I get comments to that I should have done the other. It's a tough call. I'll have to check out the official video on your recommendation Sandra. Thanks for commenting.
