In this video I show how to remove and install a serpentine belt on a GM 4.3L Vortec V-6. The process is simple. Remove the tension from the belt by rotating the serpentine belt tensioner. Once tension is removed then remove the belt. Installation is the reverse procedure.
Note: As mentioned in the video, the process may not be exactly the same for all GM 4.3L V-6 engines out there. The particular vehicle featured in the video is an 06 Chevy Silverado. This process will be the same for all 06 Silverados equipped with the 4.3L. The process should be the similar, not exactly the same, for other 4.3L engines out there. Always do your own research and verify the information in this video is applicable to whatever you are working on.
Note: Ensuring that the vehicle is placed into park with the parking brake applied with the engine off and having the negative battery cable disconnected helps to minimize the risk of accidents.

Just you initial image of the belt routing was all I needed - thank you. What brand of belt is that with the scale-type rear instead of the linear type of ridges?

I have the exact same motor and routing ,my motor calls for a 95" belt ,it was super hard getting the belt off with full decompression, I got a replacement part of 95" and it's like 2mm shorter then what's on there. Am I missing something the old belt is fine an solid it was very difficult like I said taking it off with exact steps you have taken your doing this with a massive amount of slack. Also I am 100% unable to force the belt back on like it's crazy I'd say even with a 96" belt v grooved with this project still going to be a struggle. I weigh 220lbs this isn't a physical inability this truck has demons and they want blood, buy a 96" belt and verify your width an groove and use that. 95" belts don't fit without risking damages to pulleys and should not ever be necessary to apply full body weight to remove or put on any belt or for this motor. I have attempted every trick in the book on this belt system and it won't go on without extrem and blunt wedging and prying.

Same motor as well. I found that the belt had to be seated on specific pulleys, and the slack taken from other pulleys, to be able to get the belt over the belt tensioner. Any mis-alignment, any deviation, and I couldn't get it on.

they should have done that to the Honda as it’s much easier to remove tension on the belt
