The acting in this series is phenomenal. The story line is a bit crazy, but these actors match it. You just have to give it a chance. Hope they have gotten the awards they deserve.

Leanne was adopted and raised into the Church of the Lesser Saints. With her obsession meeting Dorothy at an early age (tv interview) she utilizes her powers to resurrect Jericho (after he dies unattended in a hot car). Juxtaposing this by punishing Sean throughout the season with a lack of taste (with his obsession with becoming a chef in implication in his son's death with absenteeism). After confessing to Leanne’s 'uncle', Sean realizes the connection between Leanne and his son and allows them to stay together. The big embrace in the street of the Lesser Saint parishioners enveloping Leanne reinforces her importance to them and her mystical powers. After they all suddenly disappear, suggests they died in the explosion (from the news story Dorothy was reporting) and she resurrected them. Did they get just raptured is up (after they ALL disappear when the cop looks back) for interpretation. Is Leanne a the second coming of Jesus with her powers (given the religious backstory) or an antichrist with her tendencies towards malice? I have a feeling she will go back to Dorothy and Sean as she felt she had a real home there. I think she is a mutant with psycho-telekenic powers wrapped into a convenience ball of end time theology. All in all this show was a mixed bag, slow, but unique enough to keep my interest

This show is SSOOOOO unbelievably HORRIBLE! The husband and wife just let ANYONE come into their home and run around and do anything in there! It’s the WORST! And how do they drink alcohol 24/7 and are never drunk. The husband and brother whisper yell all the time. It’s so annoying. The wife is just so blatantly idiotic, it’s appalling! How is M. Night Shaymalan STILL making these TERRIBLE shows/movies?!?!?!

Still waiting for an explanation as to why their house is always so damned dark. At first I thought there must be a reason in the plot yet to be revealed, now I’m wondering if it’s just a sinister production team’s joke to make us all have to turn the brightness on our TVs up. .....So either the characters purposefully keep the lighting in their house low, or the show runners created it intentionally to mimic the darkness of the story for effect. The problem with watching MKS films is that you never know what is actually pertinent to the plot :/

Shyamalan leaves clues and uses symbolisms which on second look become clear to see and somewhat relevant to the plot. Consider the following: - In The Sixth Sense, Bruce Willis' character almost always wears the same clothes while red is used to represent people he interacts with. - In Unbreakable, and Glass, the main characters have their own colour clothing which extends to their environment - In Servant, Leanne mostly wears Blue. Jericho, turns into a real baby boy. Sean works with sharp tools, then suffers splinters. There are Crickets. Leanne meets a mysterious woman called Wanda who seems initially friendly, but takes an unusual and suspicious interest in her and Jericho, trying to persuade her to leave her Nanny's job. At the end of the series, a group of strangers come looking to take Leanne and Jericho to a place far away, they think will be 'good' for them. Servant is a religious, dark modern day version of Pinocchio with Leanne as the Blue fairy.

this show has this creepy ambiance and a somber mood. i love it. The show is also trying to justify actions of parents who have killed their babies by forgetting them in the car. That can never be justified no matter what logic you use! i wonder what the nanny is, is she an angel or a witch..

Of course. Roscoe ends up dead. Couldn’t let that trope get away. Not Julian, not Toby who was also the help and took your daughter out on a date. But Roscoe. What I can’t understand is why they’re punishing them all. It was Dorothy who left the baby. Not Julian or the husband (forgot his name). Seems entirely unfair.

I was under the impression that only the exteriors are used . The park they use is actually a ways away. My friends 8,000 sq ft home has been used for things. The home they are using is not large enough for all the equipment they need to film. The interiors are done on a set where they have all the room they need. If you’ve ever been in a brownstone they are deep but not real wide.

I’m ready to watch season 2. -Sean seems to manifest COVID symptoms with not being able to taste (total joke). -Dorothy probably suffers from a disorder called erythroblastosis fetalis. There is an incompatibility between her blood type and her fetus that’s why her immune system attacks the red blood cells of her fetus thus causing death. It is also known as Hemolytic Disease of the newborn.

I’ve heard that it’s kind of like cookie dough ice cream where it basically tastes vanilla except for the bites that include a chunk of cookie dough. With lobster ice cream, it’s typically a vanilla base where some bites will include some lobster meat 😋

This was a pretty good recap. What I still don't understand is this: Who was the live baby that Leanne replaced the Baby Doll with at the start? Since Julian said he found no records of any missing infants, then where did the baby come from? Is it possible that the baby was still the doll the whole time but Leanne did some sort of Satanic Pinocchio-type trick to bring it to life? When Julian was about to drop the doll when it came back and a baby sound stopped him, maybe the sound actually came from the doll after all? I watched the Season 2 recap afterwards and it never helped us get an explanation for why the baby doll ended up being "replaced" as a live baby during Season 1. It's just too big of a plot hole. And in all honesty, maybe this show would have been a lot better if the baby doll was actually in it the whole time instead of being replaced by/transformed into a real baby. Then the whole concept of the show could have gone in a different but more interesting (yet still creepy) direction. Like, is it actually a thing for some mothers who've suffered trauma from losing their babies from SIDS or other means to be treated for the trauma with a lifelike baby doll? Isn't it like setting them up for having a form of agalmatophilia later in life?

Now I'm watching the second season until episode 7, i have the same question, uncle George keeps doing weird stuff but it doesn't feel relevant or scary, just odd: he receives a box, he recolects a bunch of garbage in the basement, he moans and yells, he talks in code; i hope it has a reason to be upon the season finale.

I've been working from home since March 2020 and literally feel like I've watched everything. I've turned into a professional content consumer lol. Any ways I recall watching this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately I've watched so much content over the months I forgot a lot of details to this series. So great recap! I'm on episode 4 of season 2 and am realizing that Dorothy has no business being a mother to anyone. 😩

The series was really creepy to me But believe it or not the first episode I watched was ep 5 by accident I thought I had pressed 1 (Definitely was confused but still got the gist) so I was rooting for Leanne from 2 - 8 and then I watched ep 9 and 10 and Got so pissed off with Leanne. Ik what Dorothy did but still I wanted to drop kick Leanne. By the way the acting in ep 8 by Rupert was 🔥

Just started watching this. It's "AI" with a massive helping of Ingmar Bergman dressed up as Hitchcock's uncle. Is it going anywhere? Dunno. But the close head shots are giving me headaches.
