Great video!! Before I watched it, I had told my wife that the sweeper was done. Went back out to the shop and "unscrewed" the old hose and put in the one from the attachment that my wife never used. Without your video, I was done. Thanks!

Many thanks for the informative video. After stopping at a vacuum/sewing machine repair shop with no luck on finding a replacement hose (they hated Shark vacuums), I took to Amazon and bought a hose online. Took 5 mins to put in the new hose, reconnect the wires and put the cover back on. Easy as pie!

Thanks for info and video. If this has already been mentioned, my apologies. I discovered the wires (for HV301) do not need to be cut. Instead the black attachment for the lower hose can be removed from the lower attachment. You can then reverse screw the hose then reattach into the slot.

Very good video! Hose measurement 6 1\4" x 1 1/4" is correct for my model HV300 which i ordered from Amazon. However it seemed a lot stiffer and perhaps a little larger in diameter than the one in the video and was a little tricky to fit in place. ( didn't disconnect the wires as shown in video) Video was thorough from beginning to end so I was able to fix my vac myself! Woo-hop! I am woman! 💪💃

So I was about to replace mine using your tutorial but found out my vacuum used the security torx screws instead of Phillips heads. I took a peek my manual and saw they had a 5 year warranty so I called them. They took my model number, estimated purchase date, purchase location, color and the 4 digits stamped on the side of one of the metal prongs on the power cord. After a short wait on hold my unit was completely covered for the torn hose. They gave me a prepaid shipping label and had me cut the last six inches off the cord and mail it to them rather than return the unit. I paid 21.00 to cover shipping and they sent me a new sweeper. Since they no longer had that floor attachment in stock or that model sweeper I got the new version. It arrived in 4 days and I still have the old one. I replaced the cord end and I am ordering the hose so I will have a 2nd sweeper as a backup. So I definitely recommend calling them if your hose breaks as I got a whole new sweeper for about the same cost of the torx bits and replacement hose.

Hey Jim. I am just curious where you bought your vacuum from. I just called customer support for this same issue and they told me the only thing covered under warranty was the motor and they could not help me with the lower hose issue?
@jimg8887
@jimg8887 4 года назад
@@donaldbrey6637 odd, I bought mine from Sam's club, model hv325 40. I'd call back and talk to someone else. My book says it covers non wearable parts and lists wearable parts as pads, filters, etc which require regular maintenance or replacement. I made sure to tell them the hose is internal and not replaceable. This warranty is for 5 years. The number I called is 1800-798-7398 I believe the 4 digits on the metal plug are the manufacture date, most likely week and year it was made as my first was 1917 and the replacement has 4918. They also didn't ask for any proof of purchase although the instructions for returning the plug said to either send a copy of the original receipt or something with you name and address on it. I only sent a slip of paper with my name and address. I'd guess since the plug indicated it was made less than 5 years ago it was automatically covered. I did replace the cut cord on my old unit and ended up using the hose from the hard floor attachment since I never use it. Let me know how it turns out. They sent me model hv380 26 as the replacement. It has the dual roller head and the brush comes out from the top of the floor attachment making it super easy to clean. Only disappointment is they didn't include the pet motorized attachment, the hard floor attachment or the brush cleaning tool, I just ordered the tool offline for a couple bucks and will use the pet tool from the old sweeper.

I tried this with a shark rocket HV380w (a newer model). Every screw is a security screw and the hose is glued on both sides. The hose on the motor side has a rubber collar bonded to the plastic which appears that shark has now made the motorized floor nozzle extremely difficult (near impossible) to repair even with a replacement hose bit. The glue, even with using acetone, is near impossible to remove. It appears they have changed the hose size several times between models and if your host diameter is off by 1-3 mm it won't thread. The cost of sending in the vacuum is approximately $20 if its under warranty. I ended up abandoning the project and unfortunately had to buy a replacement part from the manufacturer. If this happens to part that I ordered from shark, I will likely find another brand. Shark needs to support peoples right to repair by designing their products to have the hose (and other parts) to be replaced easier or they will need to design a more heavy duty hose section that does not break down.
@lmperfection
@lmperfection Год назад
@caseeverett6585 Were you able to fix it? I’m having the same problem. I cannot get the hose to thread. I’ve struggled with this for hours! There is glue that won’t come off, and the replacement hose I bought on Amazon seems like it is too stiff and just a millimeter too large. I’ve tried EVERYTHING, for hours to twist the hose. (I’m about to give up… but if Shark has an on brand replacement hose, I’ll try ordering that.) 😢
@caseeverett6585
@caseeverett6585 Год назад
@@lmperfection I was unable to repair this item even with getting the glue off as the hose would not thread. The Amazon replacement section is a better hose section (less likely to break) but the diameter/thread seems to be off by 1-3 mm. I had to buy a new motorized floor nozzle attachment for $75. I will likely not buy another Shark vacuum after this.

I had a shark attachment that I had never used in the 6 years I've owned my shark so I took that apart and took the hose from that (so completely free repair). I didn't have to cut wires as it was pretty simple to change them over since watching your vid but getting the casing to click back together was a real challenge! However, since taking the bottom unit apart the upper suction isn't working as effectively as the lower unit won't stop sucking when it's completely upright. Even if I take the upper unit off using the liftaway function. Has anyone else experienced this? I was hoping that I wouldn't need to buy a new vacuum but I think after 6 years I may have to :(

Seems that this guy was able to fix it … but not in a most effective way: You do not need to cut any wires - you can remove one of the pieces (that this video does not show) that will allow you to replace the hose easily. For more info see other tutorials (for example): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pYXdlxvqs_w.html or ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s9DNL6WEluU.html NOTE for COSTCO model “UV422 40” - 6 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches diameter will not fit. I was looking for a replacement for a Lower Duct Hose, 1 1/2" Replacement Floor Lower Nozzle Hose Compatible with Shark DELUX PRO Vacuum Cleaner “UV422 40” (purchased at COSTCO). I purchased recently replacement house on the internet but it was 6 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches diameter and it didn’t fit. The actual house in my vacuum cleaner is 6 inches by 1 and 3/8 inches diameter. Seems that Shark replace this hose diameter for models sold at COSTCO to make sure that you can not replace when they break. When I called Shark customer service, I was told that they don’t sell this part any longer and that my option is to replace whole brush assembly for about $80. Seems that non-Costco models have a 1 and 1/2 inches diameter and are to big to fit COSTCO model “UV422 40”. I wa sable to order MOTORIZED LOWER NOZZLE HOSE, APPROX 6" x 1.25" ID, SHARK ROCKET HV300, HV302 at www.ebay.com/itm/143148271642 … diameter being smaller, I hope that this will work.

My model is a little different from yours but I found with a lot of hassle the screw part for the tube is a rubber insert and you can pull it out and screw it in the rubber and just push both sides back in without the need to cut the wire's but possibly yours may be a solid plastic integral part and with mine, they had glued it in the rubber sleeve the little devils (for want of a better word.)
