The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Scarleth and her family moved to Idaho Falls from Guatemala less than a year ago with nothing. She lives with her mom and brother with her uncle in a small apartment.
This month Scarleth’s adult sister, brother-in-law, 8-year-old nephew and 7-month-old niece will be moving in with them as well. They are in desperate need of the most basic necessities that many of us take for granted.
Secret Santa asked if we could find Scarleth and surprise her with an early Christmas gift. Check out the video in the player above!

Not only that but she comes from a place where generosity like this is nearly unheard of. The world lucked out with this Santa because usually the kindest people are those who have very little themselves. To have the means to change lives and then jumping at the opportunity to do so, he's such an amazing human.

She clearly did not understand just what was happening at the time but I trust that her teacher helped her to understand and explain it to her family. I'm sure, as the teacher said, it was a game changer for the entire family. Thank you, Secret Santa, for responding to the school's request for help to this student and her family.

@@Plutogalaxy Perhaps nothing like this has ever happened to her or anyone she knows...that would also make it very difficult to assimilate in such a short time. Being so young would also make understanding why a complete stranger would choose to give you that big a gift difficult. She was most definitely in complete shock, which also makes your brain shut down!

I guess you have never taught a high school student from another culture and doesn't speak English. Yes, something like this has happened to someone in the high school class I taught, so yes, I know a bit of what she is feeling since I witnessed it firsthand with my student. No bigotry anywhere in our comments. You are reading into comments your own prejudices.

I was married to a South American immigrant for over 40 years. This girl was in total shock because over in those countries NOBODY does anything like this!!! @@girlfromsouth214 Maybe, but I've never met them. May I introduce you to my late husband's sister and nephew who STOLE OUR HOUSE AND OTHER PROPERTIES from us there when he died?! I am very far from "elitist." We supported my late parents-in-law for 30+ years when we really couldn't afford to. We bought them both up to the US to have their eyes operated so they wouldn't go blind. That lazy sister never worked and lived in OUR house the entire time! I sadly met a LOT of crooks down there! Assuming you live in the US, your forebears were probably in a similar situation. Leaving one country to live in another is such a hard thing to do, especially if one realises that returning to one's country of birth is not an option.

And they are in Idaho. I've lived in Guatemala. A mountainous country that rarely falls below 60 degrees year round. At least for those in Texas or CA, they can live in areas that are 24x7 Spanish everywhere. Really tough there.

@chelseagirl278 I'm pretty sure that @pep590 meant that, compared to other areas of the US, East Idaho will be more of a culture shock for them - completely different weather and very few people who speak Spanish, compared with states like Texas or California. I saved the East Idaho News "Secret Santa" to my RU-vid Library so I could watch them whenever I want. If you do add it to your RU-vid Library, it is called "Secret Santa" and will fall in the Ss alphabetically. As of today there are 489 videos. It will up-date automatically as EIN adds videos.

I have been to Guatemala a couple times. Most areas are very poor. It sounds like the school is helping the family enter thru proper channels for a better chance at life. Bless you so much for helping that family.

Love to watch these videos and is sooo nice to see some good in this world. This is how America should be, love and care vs hate and violence, eliminate dirty politics. So happy for this beautiful young girl and hope she will find happiness and success here in the US. I lived in Spain for awhile and when you are trying to speak and learn a new language, that in itself can be very frustrating and frightening. Means a lot when others in the native country reach out to help you with a smile. Wish everyone could experience that and identify with her struggle. I wish her the very best and her family too! Bless her heart. I was working on my parents house to sell it, and because we don’t live in the town now, our contractor friend went down to a known spot and hired people daily. We bought lunch for the folks as we did every day. One young man thought he was supposed to serve his bag of food to someone. When we explained that it was his, he started crying. People are being mistreated here, it’s not ok. All of us have ancestors who came her to escape terrible governments. How any American can treat other folks with the same American dream so poorly is infuriating to me. IMO anyone who behaves that way does not deserve this country.♥️✌️🇺🇸

I'm happy for Scarleth and her family. On some of the videos I see comments about how the recipients react. I think that Bonnie's message shows that some of them are overwhelmed. I think that some are overwhelmed, and do not know what to say when someone shows up with a film crew. I think the Secret Santa and EIN are doing a great job helping people in need. Secret Sants videos are what I look forward to watching every year.

I find it so difficult to understand how some comments are so harsh ! Just from a video and prejudging an individual of "being unthankful, can't speak English, etc". We are all on this earth to bless and assist those around us that are in need ! One's who made such negative comments need to evaluate themselves ! I couldn't imagine looking at myself in a mirrow after such rude and offensive comments ! I hope you can find it in your heart to rethink your thoughts.
