I have been running the 705 on my 04 V Strom 6 months now and it has worn finally.I took a 400 mile round trip and it rained 90% of the time and the tires did great on the wet turnpike.This winter they did great in the snow and I never missed any work thanks to them.I think I will keep the next rear tire at 38 psi instead of the 40 and see if they last a little longer.Not great in the mud but I never expected them to be.

My KTM 790 Adventure had a bounce on the front from day 1. I noticed it at 40~45mph. I had to take the front wheel to a bicycle shop to get the wheel trued. That took the bounce out. Thanks for the review on the 705. I think I will be picking this up for my next road tire.

The biggest issue I had with these tires was getting them mounted and balanced correctly. On a 21" front wheel they resist seating in the bead correctly, and you won't know it until you mount the wheel and ride. The front will wobble and hop, and you'll have to take off the wheel, air it down, adjust the tire on the bead, air it back up, and re-balance it. After doing this twice, I began to suspect the tire might be out-of-round, so I pulled it off the wheel and mic'ed it to check. Nope, tire was fine. I took the tire, tube, and wheel to my local shop, where their top mechanic told me this is not uncommon. I watched him spend almost 30 minutes mounting and balancing one tire on my 21" front wheel. It's perfect now, but I absolutely dread replacing the front tire now, especially since I plan to stick with the Shinko 705's. A lot of people don't know that Shinko has been manufacturing motorcycle tires for Continental for over a decade. You can pay $200 per tire for Continentals, or you can get Shinkos, made in the same factory, from the same materials, by the same people, for half the price.

Thanks for sharing never had this problem, maybe some rims are more susceptible to this than others?

@@Speedytrip Very possible. Kawi cut corners on just about everything else on my KLR, which is another reason the Shinko 705's suit me fine.

Agree the 705 performs better in dirt and gravel than you’d expect, even wet. I also find them very predictable, giving good feedback. Not the lightest, but resist sharp rock punctures.

I just ordered a set of 705's from cycle gear and they were under $200.00 without my discounts. These are going on a 2003 Aprilia Caponord ETV 1000. Lots of back roads, logging roads for me to explore here in Oregon. Thanks for your nice review of theses 705's

Great concise and accurate review! I ride my V-strom650 90% paved and really prefer the 804 front. It seems to offer much more stability for the 10% dirt I ride. 705 rear wins for 2up paved, 805 for dirt. I'm trying a Trailmax Mission rear now. I like it very much except wet pavement where it breaks loose EASILY. Probably run another 805 rear next.

@tjmars Thanks glad you found it helpful! I did make a review of the trail rdiers, but it was a few years ago so the sound quality is pretty bad, but it should show you a bit of how they perform, simply put, great tires for just about anything but hardcore offroading or mud/sand riding.

Anakee adventure 80,20 Not a great price but I have put over 10,000 miles on a rear before it got totally worn to a slick about 12,000 I got what I paid for , 1/2 the labor changing tires and about 2/3 the cost of cheaper lower mileage tires!✌

I spent the last 4 days watching and reading reviews because yes, there's a plethora of dual sport tires out there. I almost went with Heidenau K60 Scouts but were 'out of stock' in my size. Throughout all the reviews the 705 kept getting mentioned and on the KLR forum people tended to swear by them and state simply that you can't go wrong with them. I finally settled on a 705 for the rear and I'm anxious to see if after 100 miles slab riding I can still feel my hands as my current Continental Twinduros vibrate. Of course they do-what do you expect from a heavy knobby?

Can you suggest for 390 ktm adv bike these tyres for Front-100/90-19 & Rear - 130/80-17, if you can suggest exact model with 70(road)-30(offroad) use. Also what aluminium rim I can replace for the stock alloy rim...

i just put a set of 705's on my dr650 so far so good i like them except for one thing, when i am braking at lower speeds is feel a vibration and im wondering if its just the tread of the tires or did i miss align something..🤔
@Speedytrip
@Speedytrip Год назад
The smoother the tire is, the more important it is to balance them. On knobbie tires I typically dont need to balance them. Just make sure everything is tight, that the bead is equally set around the rim, that the rear is aligned, then maybe try balancing them, these really shouldnt vibrate much when new. Also maybe check that your wheel bearings are still good.

Did you say you're able to power wheelie the AT? Is your bike tuned? Bc I dont hear any decel popping... I ask bc I have a 2017 AT and I can only get the front wheel slightly up by blipping the throttle on the up stoke of the front suspension and only in first gear. What am I doing wrong?
@IAmYourReflection
@IAmYourReflection 3 года назад
Oh and I was considering the motoz gps but after comparing prices I think I'll just stick with the 705
@Speedytrip
@Speedytrip 3 года назад
Yes in first gear pretty easily, 2nd gear I need to shut throttle and reopen to load the forks. Also you need TC turned off, power mode set to max setting. I had a 2017 and it power wheelied the same. Bike is stock except for arrow exhaust but I highly doubt it made a difference on that. Also Im 200lbs, sometimes that helps make the front lite.
@IAmYourReflection
@IAmYourReflection 3 года назад
@@Speedytrip I'm the same weight..I have manual version with akropovic exhaust, but I suck at clutching up a wheelie. I will make sure tc is all the way off next time. I am also considering the power vision II tuner but not sure if its really worth the 400 dollar price tag. Thanks!
@Speedytrip
@Speedytrip 3 года назад
@@IAmYourReflection Personally I don't feel like it needs more power. You always get used to it. I remember my 2nd bike was a Speed Triple and it had loads of torque off the line, it was almost scary at first...than a month later I was shopping for a larger sprocket on the rear to give it more go off the line. I learned than that it doesn't matter how much power you have, you can always want more. I personally wouldn't invest 20$ to make the AT more powerful, I bought the bike among other reasons cause I can have fun without going over the speed limits too much, its not an engine that begs you to redline and go over 200km/h. If you have TC on, even if you added 10hp to the bike, it still would barely let you wheelie. I'm not a fan of clutch up wheelies, just don't like the abuse on the clutch even though its the way for proper wheelies. I just lift it in full acceleration.
