It's like the three damages they have from being raised by Logan is that Shiv doesn't know how to love anyone but herself, Kendall hates himself and desperately wants everyone else to love him, and Roman desperately wants to find one big powerful person to love him more than they love anyone else.

I think we actually got some huge character development from Kendall this episode. He acknowledges that he’s not a good father because he realizes that he’s not motivated for the good of others, not even his own kids. This is the first time his character actually admits to being selfish when every other time he has deluded himself into believing his actions were for the greater good. I like it

I feel like Darwin was upset about his professional integrity being on the line. The numbers people at FOX News have been quite reliable, sometimes at the expense of the FOX News narrative. As for the others, perhaps they, like Kendall, realized far too late that this was not a game, but something real. And they made it happen. Shiv...was sort of not wrong in her pleas to Kendall, and she never liked Mencken but she ultimately let her own selfishness get in the way, which backfired greatly. Meanwhile, Roman is a mustache away from being Hitler, and seemed to be the closest to Mencken, and he doesn't care. He will set the world on fire.

Roman is turning into the killer that Logan always wanted Waystar to have, and, in turn, is setting himself up to be the main antagonist for these final episodes.
@evesapple

@@noteliassmiththing is, Roman and the others have faced 0 consequences for their actions. He doesn’t realise the impact his actions have on others. That’s why he was able to rip that cheque in front of the kids face in the 1st episode and laugh about it. It’s why he helps Mencken and says ‘nothing matters’ about it. In a way, In terms of the family business, he is probably right not to be too bothered. The reality is the rich can fuck up and fuck people over again and again- they remain obscenely wealthy. Don’t know if t he show is going to end with realism in mind or justice.

The episode gave me flashbacks of the 2016 presidential election. The anxiety, the sense of impending doom over the outcome. Roman is a ruthless, smug bastard this episode. But he's right about Logan. Logan didn't give a damn about the good of the country. Logan was out for himself. Above his own family and even at the country's expense. I love the build up to Shiv's duplicity being exposed from the moment Kendall stepped out to call Nate. The cold look in Kendall's eyes when he stepped back in. The confrontation afterwards. Great television. "Things do happen, Rome." On this, Shiv, we are in agreement.

Roman is desperate to live up to daddy & now other people have to deal with it. He's insufferable. Shiv has been taking L, after L, after L, after L since Season 2. She'll never win because she simultaneously underestimates others & overestimates her value to others. Kendall has chosen his position in the company above all else. He'll use his drive for success to compensate for his loneliness.

Roman had no time or resources to work through his grief and trauma. It threw him to nihilistic and back-to-childhood mode. Nothing matters but ‚what would Papa do’, and also it seems to me Mencken is kind of a Logan replacement for him. Roman is a brilliant guy, I still hope for him to grow up. Also, so many weirdly hilarious moments in this hilariously chaotic episode. I’m 100% sure it was on purpose: Why else would they throw in the Wasabi Scene?😂 Or the messy intro right after Greg’s „I’m feeling pretty good’ - it made me laugh so hard 😂

Greg was always part of Kendall's plan. And if y'all noticed, Kendall led Shiv into that. The slow and steady "we wall want to stop Mattson, right?". It wasn't just a rhetorical question. He was always sus of Shiv because he knows her. As Logan said, Kendall always had the guns and the instinct, he just didn't shoot right (although he actually did, it's just that either bad luck, poor prep or his own father went against it that ruined the outcome). Now without his father, Kendall's the Roy he was always meant to be. He shoots and he shoots hard. He led Shiv into a trap just like Logan would. And Greg went with Kendall (as he did before) because he always goes with the safest bet to keep his ass safe. Speaks volumes where Kendall's arc is going. That Michael Corleone renaissance route. One seat. One crown. Love em but not in love with em.
@Spaced92

Kendall honestly isn't masterminding anything, he is unsure about her being onboard because she found out about him and Roman colluding. That's why he's so emotional when he finds out Shiv is working with Matsson, he's just a hypocrite. Now ATN has put its arse on the line for Mencken, Logan is a Murdoch figure. And even Murdoch didn't do that for Trump in the last election.

Want to share my Power Ranking right now with two episodes to go: 1. Roman - The man with the moves and with the President in his pocket, he won tonight and potentially won overall? I've been talking about it with my friends and they all seem to think that he doesn't know what he's doing here but no I disagree. Roman IS intelligent just like his quick quip on Joys political views before he fired her. He simply does not care is the truth. Once you have amassed a certain wealth and status, the policy of the ruling party is to regulate everyone else. He believes he is above it, unaffected. For Roman its not about the right or the left, its are you out or are you in? Who gets you a seat at the table. 2. Kendall - The number 1 boy drops from top position for two reasons: he was conflicted this episode and didnt commit to either side which costs him being 'IN' with either side, Mencken wasn't interested in really talking or seeing Kendall and Jimenez brushed him off. He failed on both delivering the result for his daughter and to an extent for himself since he's not IN with Mencken. He's aware of the strong relations between Roman and Mencken and maybe he's projecting his own insecurity of betrayal from Roman because he's planning on doing exactly that. Bothers me a little that people give Shiv much more stick for wanting to do that when Kendall is scheming the same schemes. 3. Greg - He is IN IN IN, every direction! Pals with Matsson and loyal servant of Kendall. Quickly becoming the go to for inside information and a "Can you do this for me?" Seemed irritated with the other half of the disgusting bothers but he is Toms guy. Big moves coming from Greg honestly. 4. Tom - Under a lot of pressure, and on coke, and performed in my opinion but he will be the fall guy for any fall out of this fiasco as PGN already started to discredited him towards the end for calling it early. Tom on coke could not give a f about Shiv, and was smart to make Greg take it too so Greg would be complicit. Worry about his future though but tonight he done well. Someone the CEO bros can rely on... or will he be replaced by his protege Greg? 5. Con - Got a deal where he had no right to get a deal. Went to Roman tellingly, the man with the network, connected, the Godfather. 6. Leaving it blank to highlight how badly Shiv f'ed up. 7. Shiv - Where do I start? Infuriating because she believes her own hype too much, to an extent they all do but they still treat the people who they need to use well. Like trying to threaten Greg? Maybe Season 1 Greg but he's now wormed his way in with the top dogs and has blackmailed and used information to his advantage numerous times, you really thought you had any leverage to just threaten him and leave it at that? Shiv just does not see anyone else as her threat or equal, and I dont see how she has any allies left if Matsson realises she is no longer his girl on the inside and that he could just switch over to see if Greg will do his bidding. Shiv insisted for months that Mencken was a serious threat to democracy, and she has long been the lone liberal among the Roys (save Ewan, when he was around). Contrasted against Roman's nihilism and reactionary conservatism, Shiv held herself out as a true believer. She spends much of this episode trying to prevail on both Roman and Kendall that they should make a decision in the best interests of the country even though it might involve significant risks to their personal schemes and fortunes. But for all her "do it for the country!" rhetoric, she ultimately makes the very same type of greedy decision! She refrains from calling Nate because she wants to complete the Masson deal, and (unlike the other two siblings) she doesn't want a promise from Jimenez to tank it. So - perhaps without consciously realising it - she decides that the risk to democracy ultimately is worth it, in order to further her own scheme - precisely what she decries Roman and Kendall for contemplating throughout the entire episode. Roman wins it from here especially with the big spot at Logans funeral.... unless that goes very very badly.

Spot on, although I don't think Greg will make it as far as you think. I think the show is setting him up to be just as shitty as the rest of them. And if this show is hinting at anything, it's that the bad players will fall eventually. Also I think Shiv was protected for far too long by Logan. She doesn't know where his influence ends and hers begin, which is why she constantly oversteps her bounds.

Kendall killed Shiv, now he's going to kill Roman. Shiv is out from the race, Lukas will bail on her ass. Tom literally and figuratively said fuck it. Greg is on all sides and Shiv should learn from him, I can't believe I said that. Shiv is supposed to be the smartest one, right? I binged season 1, 2 and 3 to refresh my memory. Even if Kendall don't get the throne, he's definitely killing Roman in the next episode. Which is a shame because they could run it together.

Shiv also lost on her personal life too. She was trying to walk back the argument with Tom. If he also said I'm sorry then they could have maybe made it work. They would have cleared the air, forgave each other, and be able to start over again with more insight and a baby on the way.

In the context of the show yeah Roman and Kendall won over on Matsson (so far, the finale might be court or something) but it kinda pisses you off when you think about the real world. Millions of people live in America and the whole world can potentially be impacted by a crazy person as POTUS so to fuck everyone over when Kendall's daughter has been directly impacted by the story of rhetoric from Mencken supporters is actually awful lmao.
