Great info and thank you for putting together. I love my oxblood Park Ave and thinking of a loafer for this spring and summer. I am a 12d in AE. I have a hard time with a tassel. Could you point me to a couple of pairs to look into. I was a banker for years and now going into PE. Lots of travel in my future. I look forward to your thoughts.
Enjoy your vids... if you’d like, I would enjoy listening to your thoughts on Alden’s NST Tanker boots. Would you consider them to be more of a casual boot like the Indy or more of a dress boot like the J Crew perforated cap toe?
It is actually right in between, in my estimation. They use the Barrie last, which is a more dressy shape, and the NST stitching, which is also found on slightly less casual shoes. I would not wear them with a suit, but you could definitely wear them with virtually any other ensemble
You have a few loafers, what are your thoughts about loafers and going sockless? What are some of the socks you recommend for loafers? Thanks for the great vids?
I am in a suit virtually every time that I’m wearing my dress shoes, so I also wear socks, even with loafers. If I were in a less formal setting, perhaps with shorts or chinos, I could see wearing them with no socks or “no show “socks
I love your collections. I am pretty new in this. Want to ask you should I go with Original Alden 403 or Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill Weatherproof Boot with Dainite Rubber Sole for comfy and rugged daily wear in a hot Thailand weather. I don't want to look something fancy, just for daily casual use.
How do shell cordovan dress boots work in snow situations? I live in L.A., but I am thinking about getting a pair boots for winter work trips to NE/NE cities with snow. I’m just not sure whether I should just get warmer more casual but rugged(?) lug boots or some of these dress boots.
They work great with snow with lug soles or topy rubber soles or dainite soles. my advice would be to get a pair of nice dress boots, with one of those soles.
I currently have 30 pair and have paid between 600 and 1000 each, over the course of a decade. Should be enough to last me the rest of my professional life and would cost much more to replace.
