I will in the near future! Thanks for explaining the working of the time remap filter. Wouldn't it be cool if they'd also add different transitions between key frames, e.g. bezier curve or spline instead of only linear. Then you wouldn't have to manually set multiple key frames in rapid succession, guessing the correct change of the steepness of the graph in a tiny bar.
@@nkronert yeah, its far from perfect! At least it can be done though. Filter was only created last year, so its a relatively new feature. Something they may develop further in time :)
Underrated channel. Clear instructions. To the point. No fluff. The best tutorial I found about this filter. Also, Your voice is amazing. Subscribed. Time to study the entire channel! Thank You, brother.
Many thanks for the good explanation of the Time Remap. Was a little disappointed that the "gradual speed increase" was just "add more points". Was really hoping for some non-linear curve that ShotCut could calculate by itself.
Indeed, IMO it makes it kind of useless. You can do gradual change with ffmpeg, but it's difficult due to not clear (at least for me) parameters. I heard you can do it in Kdenlive, but I didn't manage to make it work.
You can automatically create this exponential (or many other functions) Right-click a key frame and select "To Next" -> "Ease In" -> "Ease In Exponential"
Between two points the speed is constantly the same. Is there a setting that allows you to speed up or slow down video sections evenly? Something similar to a fade out or fade in of music.
Hi Axel, as far as I'm aware, this method is the only way to increase speed over time. But you're right, it is consistent between points, so to make a speedup look completely smooth like your're suggesting, you would need to make keyframes at every frame, increasing the speed slightly each time. This way, it will look smooth like a fade in/out. Not the easiest of things to do in Shotcut, but hope it helps a little!
Hi new subscriber here i like your videos I got a question less said you wont some parts tuning normal speed and some speed up and then go back to normal speed again how can I do that?
Hey, using the Time Remap Filter you can speed up and slow down the tracks almost like an accelerator on a car - it can be fine tuned this video that you are commenting on explains how to do that. However, if you want static speed-up or slow-down use the Properties method, its much easier and quicker to do, full explaination here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0WgVq8aAEDk.html
Hi there, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Maybe it's because i'm a beginner and don't quite understand. I have tried to do a timelapse over and over again. And I have tried doing it 2 different ways, but I have a problem. Lets say I have a 5 minute clip. Prior to time lapse attempts, I edit that clip - top and tail 1 minute off either end lets say. SO my 5 min clip is now 3 mins. But when I apply the time lapse to my now 3 minute clip, the bits I edited out (me checking the camera for instance) re appear in the time lapsed footage. I thought I was going mad at first. But this is definitely happening. Why.....???
Hey, I think what you need is a LUT filter, probably with a bespoke LUT applied. This isn't something I do much of myself, but I hope this points you in the right direction. If you direct your question into the Shotcut forum they will give you a definitive answer. forum.shotcut.org
Currentely, in Shotcut is even possible to add smoother (gradual) speed change, thanks to Speed filter added some time ago. Still Linear, not as for example in Premiere or Resolve, but better than shown in this video.
Hello, yes, this remap filter isnt the easiest to use. I believe Shocut has had a few updates and keyframes are now something that can be undone. If thats not working for you, try updating to the latest version.
Its only visible if you have a video file selected. If you are on an audio, image or the entire track (or have multiple tracks selected) it will not appear. I've just checked and its coming up for me - if you are not on the latest version of Shotcut you might need to upgrade as previous versions have had issues with it appearing before - but currently it should be fine.
