My heart absolutely breaks for her.... Not sure if going back to school with 3 kids is the answer. I've been told there are jobs out there that are somewhat competitive without a college degree. It really depends on what you are looking for. I agree with Dave that making more income should be your focus to take care of you and your kids. LaShonda, if you are reading this, I am so happy that you reached out. I'm learning that a lot of what Dave Ramsey talks about is not principle or blanket statements for everyone, but they are actually case by case. The videos are here to see what works for you. She put herself in a bad situation by going to school taking out loans and not finishing. So now she is starting all over again, taking out more loans w/ an income that will not work for her with 3 kids. She must try to get a better paying job before she can even consider going anywhere otherwise she will just be stuck in the same situation forever and it will just be a cycle that never ends.

I don't know. On one hand I feel bad for her and I totally understand her situation is tough and hope she makes it through. On the other hand, three kids with a low wage while in school? There has to be some personal responsibility there somewhere.

I am so happy that I have been listening and watching you. It does my heart good to see someone who it Is truly making a difference it Is truly making a difference in peoples lives. I am 78 yrs old, and I have been in the field of helping people take charge of their personality traits. Every person is born with the potential of using their talents/traits either constructively are destructively; and are much happier if they learn how to get their traits to work for them, rather than against themselves. And family and others around them are happier too, unless they are controller types.

How else is he supposed to help though? She asked him a simple question of if she should stay with her parents or stay on her own. He asked about her personal situation and told her the answer. I'd say he did help.

that comment.about a 29-year old with a good income still living at home and not going off on their was horrible. if you are 29 years old and lucky enough to be living with your parents and not paying a landlordord or interest on a mortgage stay with your folks as long as you can. better to keep the money in the family than to give.it.away to somebody else.

I can see the point you are trying to make, but I think it has more to do with the psychology of moving out. When I moved out on my own after I joined the military, it did something to me. I felt a lot more confident in myself as a man, and my relationship with my parents changed as well (for the better). It's hard to feel like an independent adult when you still live at home, at least that was the case in my scenario.

1st how do you know she black. I do too but you were being very stereotypical. But 2nd this happens a lot with white people too it’s not just black people. People need to learn to make much better choices in life. Especially ladies, don’t have babies out of wedlock especially 3 of them.

I think she should stay with her parents until she has been working as an accountant for a while. She will not be able to make it on $10 an hour with 3 kids if she is paying rent.

How long should an adult child with their own child live with her parents? She has a full-time job, but doesn't make that much ($14.00) an hour. In a waiting list for subsidize housing (waiting period is long/months, years). Has been with parents, going on two years. Only started working full-time for a year now. Pays parents 250.00 for rent, is responsible for her own bills, but she is not looking for a new job that pays more. What to do?

Her focus shouldn't have been getting out of debt at that moment. What a foolish woman she is for not having any money saved up. A man won't take care of you forever. Especially after getting knocked up with 3 kids. Case and point.

The truth is there are people that actually need housing assistance, like this woman, but where the problems lie is with the people that abuse and take advantage of the system. I managed a section 8 apartment complex for 2 years and it was appalling to see the number of people that the government approved for the program and never followed up on. All they had to do was call their "handler" once a month and tell them they couldn't find a job or some other BS and they got to keep their housing benefits, paying $400 a month for rent while driving nicer cars and having better furniture and clothing than people working 50-60 hours a week. The problem lies in the way the programs are run where people are able to take advantage of it, that is where most social programs go wrong.

I feel like you have to really try hard to make that little at her age. She is making it because she is 100% on government aid. Its becomes a viscous cycle where they become afraid to make more or they will lose their "free" money. So they never reach for more because they dont think they are good enough or smart enough. She needs a good mentor to help her. She needs to start waiting tables so she can go to school full time and crank that out! You can tell she wants more, she just doesn't know how.

Sad to say this is 100% my mom. She hasn't worked in 20 years. Has racked up so much debt, it hurts to think about it. She spent $100,000 on her master's degree in accounting with an online university. Its kind of like people with an eating disorder studying to be a nutritionist/health coach and teaching others how to live healthy. I see this all the time.

For those saying Dave only takes calls from rich ppl....why do you think that even is? Its cus the people called him. No the other way around. Maybe there is a trend here that you have to choose to call the show? Hello McFly, there are a lot less poor people calling in because they arent looking for the Dave Ramsey solutions to getting on their own 2 feet making good choices. Get mad all you want, all problems are problems. You just want violins playing and some people choose to remain poor. I know some. The are content with that life. Even if it hurts their families.

caller is prime example that you don't need to have kids if you are broke. two she is a black women with three kids on wellfare because you can't survive on 10.00 a hour and made horrible choices. People don't have kids if you are not in your career and wealth together and make sure you get your life together when you are younger and go to college for something that is beneficial and will payoff like a physician lawyer judge mortician construction
