I've owned this gen Accord for over 4 years. Bought it with 58k miles, sold with 140k. I haven't had a single issue with this car, just regular maintenance. 2.0 petrol was not a rocket but it sure was the most reliable car I ever owned. I regret selling it.

how is it in terms of interior quality? because I've heard complaints since these cars were built in the crisis era and the quality was probably not the best
@ahogQ
@ahogQ 10 месяцев назад
@apollo8017 mine was built in Japan in 2010 and the interior quality was very good. No sqeaks or rattles and felt pretty solid and built to last. Haven't driven other accords so I can only give you my impression.

Many many years ago I had a Range Rover and left for a trip to Europe from Edinburgh. Never got further than Doncaster where the transfer box gave up. The AA returned me home and I borrowed my mother's Honda Accord. Drove all around Europe and back. Great car. And a great mum for giving me her car :)

I was given one of these as a rental for a road trip in the USA in 2009. I had the idea that Accords were bland and boring. However I really enjoyed that car. It did everything well and like all good cars the longer you drove it the more you liked it. I never thought we would get to a point like now where we look back at cars like this from 2009 and realise with a sinking feeling that that era was a high point of great cars that were relatively affordable.

With my liking for Japanese reliability I have owned three Accords along with2 Mazdas , 2 Mitsubishis and 2 Suzukis over the last 40 years. You are one of the very few reviewers in the UK who give them the credit they deserve and even if you wouldn’t buy one yourself you give good advice to people needing reliable motoring. I don’t get the British love of European cars which don’t compete on reliability and here in New Zealand they are much pricier than the Japanese equivalent. As I have said previously this is by far the best car review site on you Tube.
@chappy2121

People here are badge snobs unfortunately. They'll buy a much worse more problematic car and still complain when it fails. Japanese cars are pretty common though and there's a huge JDM scene. I myself run a 22yo Toyota Crown Athlete VX and its by far the best car I've owned and has never let me down in 3 years

My current car is a 2007 (the previous version) Accord Tourer with close to 180k miles that I bought as a temporary car 7 months back. It was between this and an Alfa 159 that I really liked but which had even higher mileage. The old Accord is a bit of a beater but still runs like clockwork and now I have to look hard for a worthy replacement. Find it somehow endearing when driven hard!

Just ordered the Civic EHEV in blue, Advance trim. Vey impressed comfortable, great handling and performance. Between 50 to 60mpg and a lot of toys. Currently own a FK8, never had a problem in four years and 46000 miles. Only paid for 2 tyres, rear pads and wiper blades. Always owned Honda reliable with great engineering, the Accord also fits in that category. Oh and buttons are very good which Honda still incorporate for the most important functions, unlike some manufacturers.

I ran a Type-S diesel saloon with the 6-speed manual for a couple of years: fantastic torque (380Nm) and lovely gearchange, crisp handling and well finished. Narrow power band and dated dashboard design even ten years ago the only downsides. I only sold it as I needed an estate for a house move project.

I always loved the styling of this generation of Honda Accord. It's not surprising that it could be mistaken for a luxury car - this particular model was marketed as an Acura TSX in the US, so it was designed to compete with the likes of the BMW 3 Series or Lexus IS rather than your average Mondeo or Insignia.

Another good honest review Matt. I had a 59 plate 2.2 iDTec EX model for 4 years and it was a bloody good car. Stock sound system was pretty impressive. Would drive around for weeks and rarely encountered another. Honda never really advertised the car which was a shame given the high profile launch ad the previous gen got (the cog advert). Towards the end of my time of ownership the DPF starting giving me problems. First and only time I had a diesel. I think the shape has aged nicely. Always fancied a 2.4 EX tourer but oh so rare.

Why is this channel so addictive .... think it's the non shouty hyper edited ,informative but not boring presentation ... and the fact the cars are actual cars you can go out and buy . On another note , I often see cars for sale here in Spain that are RHD and therefore really cheap ...they're usually pretty juicy cars like jags and big mercs that ex pats come over and sell off here and because they're right hand drive nobody wants them so they sell for half nothing , are there LHD cars in the UK that are cheap for the same reason and is it worth all the hassle and cost to actually bring a car over from the UK to Spain if it's LHD always been curious .

I have one with the 2 litre engine and a manual gearbox. Since it’s not a powerful car that means you can drive it hard without driving fast, something the car takes well to. The engine and gearbox work really well together, and the wishbone suspension up front and multilink in the rear makes it go around corners well indeed. The biggest downside to the car for me is the steering feel though, but my previous car was a BMW E46 with great steering. It’s been reliable except a module in one of the front doors that was faulty that made the power window and mirror electronics not work on that door, and the trunk popper needed to be replaced once. So far I’ve had it for almost 2 years and 30’000 kilometres, and not planning to replace it.

In Australia they were called the 'Accord Euro', to differ it from the regular accord shape. These and the Honda Legend were the only Hondas that were made in Japan, all else (for Aus) comes from a factory in Thailand. We only got the 2.4 petrol. I always thought they were a great car, especially the top spec (sunroof, navi and leather trim). A low mileage example will have much life left on it. If I was in the market for a reliable comfortable car, this would be it.

Just a slightly bigger and different vehicle with a much softer suspension. But thankfully with the same level of Honda reliability. Unfortunately Matt, my fellow Americans also prefer Crossovers. Yup, no imagination. Just an appliance to be used as such. Though ironically when folks on this side of the ocean hit hard times, they cut back on Laundromat visits; but not on Car Wash visits. I had a type S 2.2 diesel 177 bhp, and I’ve had a lots of cars, these accords are best in class, how anybody could buy shit like ford mondeos or vauxhall vectras/ insignia before them knows zilch about cars, Matt your the only U.K. reviewer who gives Japanese cars a fair crack of the whip.

I love my petrol mk7 accord ex, has everything I'll ever need. Less than 25 for sale in the entire UK. Finding parts is getting harder unfortunately.

We had a 2.2 estate, fantastic, reliable, and huge interior. 2.2 diesel is a great engine. Just had a problem with the antilock/stabilisation module, which was repaired by a third party (known fault and not a Honda-made component) but not very expensive to fix with lifetime guarantee. Bulging side body makes it harder to estimate smaller gaps. Otherwise wonderful car

Brilliant cars for the money. I've got an ex estate. Only gripe is the boot leak from the perishing vent seal behind the rear bumper which you'll have to take it off to get access to it🙄 for £1900 and 2 years owing it with 140k on clock its never let me down. Oh and rust starting to show its age in places but expected for a 14 year old car

I have had 2 Honda's, a civic vti and a legend coupe both gave excellent service, the vti flew a the legend wafted along.

Not for me, I have had bad experiences with Hondas. Can appreciate the simple A to B motoring of them.

During my search for a first car at age 25 I was looking at a pristine 2016 Accord with 40k, a 2015 Audi A4 with 80k and a 2015 Lexus CT at 70k. I found the Accord looked as old as it's early 00s models, then the Lexus had me for reliability and will still look modern in years to come

I had the previous one, courtesy of my dear departed brother. The clutch left my leg more muscley than my right arm before I got a proper bird.

Heard about the problems with transmission, is that so with an Accord from 2004?

This car actually doesn’t come with all the toys, there was one extra optional that was pretty amazing for 2009: active lane keep assist with radar cruise control. I had one, and it’s amazing how well the car kept inside a lane on the motorway, all by itself!

I have the predecessor, a 2006 Honda Accord 2.4 petrol and it not only goes like a rocket, it has Lane Keep Assist as well as the Adaptive Cruise Control and I fitted a reverse camera AND Auto Folding Mirrors (fold on the key). I love these cars, my previous car was a 2002 Honda Accord and I had that for 13 years. I would have kept that one as well if I had the space for two cars.
