I really like this new segment.

The F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 is the one I would buy in a heartbeat.

I’m a Silverado owner. Those Fords ride much smoother. I would have bought one with the V8, 157” wheelbase but the dealer kept raising the price. I walked out.

The 5.0 engine is the main reason I quit a lifetime of driving Chevys and tried a Ford. I love the Coyote!!

I have a 2016 f150 lariat 5.0. I love my truck. I have close to 85.000 miles ,so far other than oil changes I did nothing. I live up northern Canada with temperatures down to-40 ,towing snowmobile, firewood, building supplies, hunting in the bush ,lots of off roads. Amazing truck.

Trucks are getting way overpriced!

I have ‘12 xlt 5.0. I use it for towing. This has to be one of the most underrated engines out there. So much power. Smooth as luxury car engine when cruising with a great roar when you step on it. Had to do it again this is the engine and the truck. Do wish the prices were better on the new trucks.

Love the 5.0. I have a 2016, with the 6 speed. Door lock issues, which have been fixed. No other issues. I agree, no LED headlights.

I like this series (1st episode anyway). An interview with a real owner is always good, and they are generally telling it like it is. I imagine further episodes will eventually include all major brands with various options. Great series so far!

The shifting issue is now fixed with an ecu update. And I hate it when ford says the noise is "normal".

I have a 2016 f150 sport with the 5.0 liter and its been solid. No issues with 113,000 kms. I'll consider another ford again.

As a MOPAR guy, I would go with the 5.0L, nice truck by the way.

I'm 61. I've driven Ford pickups since I was 20. I bought my third one in 2017, a 2.7 liter EcoBoost 4WD Supercab, same color as this one, most of the same features except I don't have navigation. I too got a lot of money knocked off the sticker price by FOrd financing incentives. I kind of wish I would have gotten the 5.0 instead, since I worry about these turbos going for shades of 20 years like my last two trucks did. Other than that. I love this truck. It feels very light and nimble with the aluminum body and smaller CGI engine block. Great video, good hunting!

Nice truck and great choice of engine. I tested all three engines and the 5.0 just had the smoothest power curve and seemed to have an easier time picking a gear.

I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it and it's a beast.

That 5.0 has direct and port fuel injection which is awsome. Plus, that ten speed transmission is a great transmission as well.

The '13 & '14 F 150s are among the most reliable ford's ever. Tom is very likeable.

Beautiful truck! I've got a 2016 XLT Supercrew with the 5.0 as my daily driver and to pull my travel trailer, it's been great.

I've been watching all the new episodes on this segment and this is great.

46k usd and it doesn’t have leather or a center console, trucks are getting damn expensive buy em used for half the price

Have a similar XLT, FX4, max tow package has 36 gallon tank, fantastic. Sport package has console shifter. No sun roof.... MPG combined 19.5. Thats with winter gas. Deals were way better on the XLT's than higher trim and they gave me high B/B on trade in. The 10 speed usually is great. But, it can get confused if you are sloppy, step on it, let off, then step on it again. Can be a little clunky, if you try. Really the drive train is very good. The power on the 3.5 is fantastic. Strong down low and just keeps pulling with the 10 speed. No problem, at all, getting up to speed on, on ramps. Some thing that Ford does, is make all the engine options available in all trim levels. Similar GM, top engine would be 5.3. As far a s reliability, "All" those semi trucks have turbos. Change your oil when your suppose to and you will be fine. Pretty impressive how much trucks have improved from my 2007 Tundra.

I've had my 2019 5.0 V8 XLT for almost a year now. Love this truck. On long freeway drives it gets 21-22 mpg in eco mode, which is way better than I expected. The Pro-trailer backup assist makes me look good at the boat ramp - customizes for each trailer - these videos don't talk enough about this feature which only Ford has.

Very nice. I'm picking up my 2019 XL in the morning 🙂 3.5 twin turbo, 4X4, extra cab, electric locker, and 36 gallon fuel tank. That's it..I dont need butt warming seats.👍

Got a 2017 5.0 crew cab 3.55 Rear end pulls well good on fuel best i have ever owned.

I was getting 20.5 mpg on a 2018 5.3 Surburban, doing a Toronto Florida trip, mostly cruising above 70 mph. I drove home through this storm in Pennsylvania that he is talking about. Gotta love the lake effect snow storms, it was a white out.

Nice truck! I bought a Chevy Silverado with comparable equipment. I use it to tow our travel trailer.

It is so refreshing to see someone speak highly of their experience in the 5.0 V8 powered F-150. It seems like every video I watch either people just dog on that motor or oversell the turbos. This is coming from a GM Truck owner.

Great video! Nice segment. Amazing how different the market is in CO compared to TX. That truck, with incentives and our competitive market, goes for $10K less in Texas. I’d have taken an $2K trip to Texas and pocketed $8K.

Is the 5.0 a dual injection system? I hear that keeps the valves cleaner than just the direct injection only system.

I bought a used 2006 F-250 FX4 w/tow package, VERY happy with it.

Just upgraded my 2018 halogens to the supernova v4 led bulbs in both low and high beam.... Game changer! It's an actual pleasure to drive at night, they're a great led bulb that works well in the oem reflector housing. That's one of my gripes too, paying alot of money for something that would be a cheap upgrade for Ford factory to install.

I have this same truck in lightning blue. I love it and the coyote 5.0 is a beast. I’m glad I chose the 5.0 I drove it from the dealer i got it from in North Carolina to my home in Connecticut it drove amazing and it’s very comfortable on long drives!

Great truck and great tires. I have the identical truck down the color but with the 2.7 EB. Love the truck. I've ran the duratracs and am not using nitto exo grapplers. Both are great!

I've got a 2017 f150 5.0 super cab and I love it. I did a test on the highway here with cruise on and perfect conditions I can get 28 mpg. City is half that but way better than I was expecting If I was buying again the only thing I would add is the higher payload package. Current payload is 2025 lb

I also have a 2018 coyote Xlt Fx4 and gotta say I’m in love got it brand new only 4 miles on it when I drove it off the lot.

I like ye truck. I got a new 2015 F150 Platinum 4FX Off-road 3.5 Ecoboost. What’s not to love? Of course being the Platinum, all I have to do is call it, it hooks to my boat, trailer, then comes around to get me. I’ve always had a weakness for quality stuff. Didn’t get for mpg, but still don’t want a gas hog. Get this: lifetime mpg for towing, city, Hwy is 19.7! I take it.

Before buying the 5.0, be sure to look into the cylinder bore distortion as well as the 2018-2019 timing chain guide chirp and engine oil consumption issues. My 2012 CPO 5.0 has had the engine replaced, the new engine showed up with a bad head, and now the drive side valve cover is pissing oil. Luckily it is still under warranty, but once warranty expires in a few months, I will probably be dumping it. Ford just doesn't carry the same quality they used to.

Thanks for the video. I know this is dated a few years now, but as pointed out, most videos push the 3.5, so it is good to see people choosing the 5.0 and substantive reasoning for doing so. Also, thanks for the comments on the 10 speed transmission. I am considering a 2022 F-150 Lariat and debating the 3.5 vs. the 5.0 - pretty much decided on the 5.0 - but my son in law who works for Ford recently said, he would buy either engine, but was most worried about the 10 speed transmission. I've gone down the rabbit hole watching videos and reading forums, but am gonna pull the trigger (and buy an extended warranty!). Getting out of a 2019 F-350 Lariat with the 6.2 gas and 6-speed. Bought that to pull a >9k lb. travel trailer, which we no longer own. Nothing wrong with the F-350, it has all the bells and whistles, but I am ready for a much smoother ride, AND MORE THAN 12.5 MPG (combined). Also, agree fully on the Goodyear Wranglers with snow! I put them on my wife's 2014 Wrangler Unlimited JK and they did really well in the snow when we lived in Western New York. AND, they are so quiet and ride so smooth, especially compared to the original tires Jeep put on it (BFG Mud T/A's).

The ecoboost engine is also an amazing engine as well as the 5.0 so it comes down to preference cause they will both serve u well

Blows my mind every time I hear a price on a new vehicle. I was at the Toyota dealer and the tundra is more than I have in savings. Yeesh

We always buy those tires, on 2008 heavy duty Ford and 2017 dodge ram 2500. Yes they are nice not just on snow especially going to ski resorts, but mud and rain.

I like chrome ! This truck is almost identical to the truck I was building on Ford’s website. I optioned it with a 3.73 locking rear diff and tow mirrors.

I also have a 2014 F150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost and 141k on it. It's a great truck. I love it.

$46k is bit steep. I got mine, now outgoing 2018 Silverado for under $35000, bought in October. Z71 with heated leather seats, bedliner, stock Duratracs...

I own a 2014 XLT 5.0L 6speed auto and it’s a great truck. When I upgraded to larger tires it wasn’t shifting properly and speedo was off. I installed SCT X4 tuner and now speedo reads correct and it shifts flawlessly. Great tuner for towing and performance. The tuner eliminated that typical Auto trans hesitation when you punch the throttle. Gas pedal Has instant response now and excellent engine braking in tow mode.

Got my 2018 Lariat crewcab FX4 with the 5.0 two months ago out the door for 49k at 0% from Ford I am so far really happy with it just waiting on my Morimoto headlights

Have '15 F150 Lariat with 3.5L ecoboost. Almost 70k miles and no issues. Tow 8000 lb camper. Love it. Enjoy the new truck. Nice color.

Enjoyed the segment, I just purchased a new F150 Sport XLT.......didnt hear you mention any of the engine noise issues I have been reading about , I have about 600 miles on mine and it has a tick that is very noticeable at the drive through or in the garage. Thanks again for sharing.

2018 and above are having oil consumption issues. You might want to check your oil levels frequently. Ford is telling me it is normal to burn 1 litre per 5000kms, that bull.....

I'm about to turn 226,000 miles on my '04 FX4; would love a new one but they're too expensive now. When the time comes, I'll drop a rebuilt 5.4 in there and soldier on.

I have a 16 5.0 I use to chase cattle haul myself around and sometimes to tow light trailers really good off road bone stock
