Years of night shift patterns have turned my sleep cycle upside down, sadly; but I manage to wind down with a warm bath, meditation and soft music before sleep. Excellent sleep hacks - thanks for sharing.

Yes, love those warm showers or baths.Do not miss those night shifts especially in the early days.Always had difficulty falling asleep after being on call and getting woken up at 2AM!

Thanks so much for this - you packed a ton of useful information in here. My #1 piece of advice for your viewers who are having chronic sleep problems would be to get a sleep study done. I have sleep apnea and using a CPAP has drastically improved the quality of my sleep. My kids are autistic and I often find it a little disturbing how other parents of autistic kids rush to recommend using melatonin and end up giving it to their children long term.

Thanks for your input.Sleep apnea is often overlooked diagnosis.I too am concerned about the use of melatonin in children.What happened to milk and honey?

So, now I know I've been taking melatonin too late. I'm going to begin taking it 3 hours before bed, as you just suggested, Doc! :-) Great sleep hacks. I find it hard to get up at the same time ON THE WEEKEND!! Energy, energy, energy. Yes. You had energy. :-)

Thanks for watching!.Yes, unfortunately people who take Melatonin stay on this supplement stay on it indefinitely.In the long run that causes more harm than good.

I play some relaxing music when I sleep. I'm not really sure if the deep sleep music I found on RU-vid has any scientific basis, but they really help me sleep well.

I do take melatonin to help me sleep. I also suffer from depression and am noticing a relapse of symptoms. I didn’t know melatonin supplements can worsen depression, so I may need to look into other sleep aids

You're so welcome! In terms of sleep, always keep matters simple before looking for a pill and supplement. There are no short term solutions, however, sleep hygiene has to be followed consistently.Exercise as I emphasized is important.I have been walking regularly now for several months and have seen a tremendous change in my sleep patterns.

I might start taking melatonin because I’ve had trouble sleeping takes about 30 min to go to sleep I don’t know but it takes a while for me to sleep

This is great information! I have been having difficulty sleeping early lately and I tried to order melatonin online but apparently it was banned to ship to South Korea where I live. Do you know why countries would ban this vitamin if it’s clearly safe to take? Is there an alternative vitamin?

Thanks for your feedback.Here is a article/study looking at the question you posed regarding its ban in certain countries.It has to do with quality control:www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5263069/.Here is a study looking at vitamins and sleep:www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S138994570700010X. My advice would be, as explained in the video to practice good hygiene practices, especially regular exercise and daylight exposure.With my patients I do recommend chamomile tea or milk and honey.Here is a study looking at how milk and honey helped a certain cohort of patients www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2405457718303061.
