About 5 weeks ago I went to Colorado to go skiing and broke by greater tuberosity the exact same way and had the exact same symptoms. Went and got an X-ray and was told that I’d be out of work (my job doesn’t offer light duty) for 12 weeks. I have an appointment in two days for a check up. I can now do pretty much anything with my arm but it is still sore especially after doing something strenuous. I can shovel snow and all that with it just fine but pulling the blankets over me at night takes some effort and is kinda sore. I’m PRAYING that the Dr. let’s me go back to work when I go to see him in 2 days for my first check up. I’m running out of sick time and my skimpy paychecks from not being at work is making things tight.

It will be important to adjust how you work. Some activities are safe but the Dr should be able to guide you.

Thank you so much. I dislocated my left shoulder, labral tear and soft tissue tears in the subscapularis and etc. I have a non displaced fracture of the GT as well. My SYMPTOMS AND MOBILITY are identical to this. After one month in a sling, should we do more mobility work to ensure the shoulder doesn’t get too stiff?

Sir I was suffering with capsulites in right shoulder some physiotherapist did fracture in greater tuberosity and partial tear in infraspinatus muscle how much time will it take to cure

Thank you, Doctor for your informative videos. Recently, I discovered I had a nondislocated greater tuberosity fracture in my shoulder after a skiing accident. Initially, I didn't realize the severity and didn't seek immediate treatment. After three weeks, an MRI confirmed the fracture, and my orthopedic recommended a two-week arm sling. How serious is this damage, and is a three-week delay in seeking treatment considered significant for healing? Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!"

Totally relate! I have a similar scenario. GT humorous fracture. With very similar symptoms. On the mend. This video was helpful nice to know it is understandable to not be able to raise my arm until it heals.🙃

Its a highly informative and helpful content... Request you if u can help me to guide how much time does this might take to get it heal for comminuted minimally displaced avulsion fracture at attachment of supraspinatus tendon with adjacent marrow edema !? What precautions do one need to take for the same.? And if u can suggest some warm up or exercise for the recovery and strengthening of the shoulder! Thanking you. Best Regards, Amit

Thank you! Yes. There was greater tuberosity fracture. We put him in a sling and sent him to ortho.

What next to be taken care ? How much time it takes for recovery? Any suggestions for exercise?

So was the decision to x-ray just based on the fact that fracture made it onto your DDx list? Seems he presented a lot like a rotator cuff tear.

Hi Jon, Looked like a cuff tear but after some rehab and achieving near full ROM, he cont'd to have some aching. MRI revealed underlying labral tear which he is deciding to live with.

Hi Paul. Great videos!. this is tremendously helpful for students. One question: what is the criteria for an X- ray when you are dubious about whether is a fracture or a rotator cuff tear, especially if the fracture is not too bad to be obvious. Is there something equivalent for the Shoulder like the Ottawa ankle rule is for the ankle ?. Thanks :)

I ask for x-rays when there is a traumatic incident and significant tenderness. That's a good question.

I had a greater tuberosity tear last April I had a sling for over 1 month, I didn’t get surgery but now my shoulder is stiff what can I do?

I fractured my GT (stable) and tore my supraspinatus 3mm. It’s been 5 weeks and I have to go back to work now as I work for myself- Can I put force into my arms / shoulders again without breaking my arm further or tearing the tendon more? I have about 30% of my movement back and it’s not as painful but times up 🤷‍♂️ I’ll have to push and pull with it next week 😐 Just hoping it’s just going to be uncomfortable but everything is “knitted” together enough 🤞

5 weeks is still early. Try not to reach away from you too much. Keep heavy things close to your body

Do you need a cast if fractured??

No. Can't cast the shoulder. A sling can help depending on the size and displacement of the fracture.

I had a fall 6 months ago & landed on The ground in a goalie save position. Went for Xray, nothing showed up: 6 months on, still in agony: went to see a specialist & had a MRI scan. It showed undisplaced fracture of greater tuberosity.Now were in lockdown again I not sure what safe exercise to do.

I'm 10 days post injury. X-rays show a GT fracture and I've been given a sling to wear. The consultant wants to see me again in a few days and I've been told I'll need physio. After 4 weeks I can start doing exercises. I found these on the Virtual Fracture Clinic channel.

Six months in after dislocation/undid placed GT fracture and shoulder is now frozen, pain greatly reduced after some bad months but still looking at months more of limited ROM.

@@jimegan7193 Yes a frozen shoulder can take up to 6 months to a year to improve. Best bet is physical Therapy

I have that fracture and it’s been going on for one month now had a MRI yesterday and it showed the fracture up it also showed a mild to moderate rotor cup can I pass a hickey
