I wore a dress on my 16th birthday bc we were going to my aunt's wedding and my brother straight up looked at me and went "You look horrible in that dress" and he was being 100% serious too. I cried because of a 12 year old that morning lol. . .he's 14 now and he still feels the need to comment on my outfit choices despite the fact that he can't even match his clothes. He's always like "Fancy dresses don't suit you. You look a lot better in casual outfits. Just wear jeans and a t-shirt" and I'm like "I won't take fashion advice from a 14 year old boy who wears the same flannel everyday" 😤

The way she was so emotional about everything might’ve stolen the show but she was sooo sweet and didn’t mean to steal the show. She was just that happy.

My parents did that, and it had a huge effect on me. They made it abundantly clear that they always *liked* each other, and enjoyed one another's company. I never married until I was 38. After aaaalllll those years of nagging that I needed to dress differently, do my hair differently, etc., Mama finally came around when she saw who I'd chosen. She wound up telling everyone that I waited until I met a man who would treat me as well as Daddy always treated her. And she was right. That's exactly what I did, and it was the smartest thing I ever did in my life. Now, after 27 years of marriage (I'm flippin' *old*), my stomach still turns a double back-flip when my sweetie smiles at me a certain way.
