We're full on filler episodes. There are a couple of scenes that are cannon, but these episodes have been and will be mainly filler. PS - Luffy's a moron, Sanji's a perv, Zoro's always lost, Ussop's a cowardly liar, Nami's a cheapstake. These are their main traits, but they can be, at times, the complete opposite of this.

Episode 97 is a good example of how you can't just skip the filler in One Piece because they splice so much canon stuff together with the non-canon stuff. You'd only know the difference if you'd read the manga before watching the episode.

Sanji is a clown. His ridiculous behavior is the only thing that makes him work as a character to me. One thing Oda likes to do is to contrast a characters intentions with their actions. So if you have a cool, savvy, gentleman... he's contrast by being an absurd loser in a way that trips up the gentleman aspect. Usopp being brave is tripped up by his cowardice. Luffy being a pirate with his very UN-pirate behaviors. Zoro being stotic is tripped up by hi inability to see where he's mistaken on directions. Etc. I don't know what to tell you man. You could take it less seriously and laugh at the goon behaviors from goons.

Rain making has been tried in real world it is called Cloud Seeding basically works just like Dance powder, they spread the chemicals like Silver iodide, Potassium iodide and Dry ice in clouds and they rain down. Effect of that is questionable but least in theory it should work

I completely agree the dance powder concept is fantastic and servers as a great starting point for the arc Also luffy is very dumb but if you feel he is being extra dumb 8 times out of 10 is anime only stuff that lean in the extremes for quick comedy And like you i also love the vivi forgot to mention something gag, it's another one that's a lot more present in the anime but its also there in the manga

Personally, I think Luffy is a bit like the trolls form Terry Pratchetts Discworld series of books. They run on very special brains (silicate based) that work worse the hotter it is. Maybe it's the same for Luffy.

The big spoiler opening starts playing Episode 116. The event it spoils is one that I can't even describe well without spoiling more. That said, I think most people would be fine with you watching One Piece Opening 3 starting with Episode 131 (or whichever episode after that you watch next).

Sanji 2: This time he’s a camel

Now that you mention it, there are quite a few Devil fruits and characters that reflect the same powers as marvel heroes. To finish out the fantastic four, there's someone who turns invisible (and someone who can cast clear force fields, a separate character because devil fruits), and a couple people made of rock. For other heroes, let's see... there's an absurdly powerful martial artist who has a panther theme, there's a guy with lightning powers, a guy who builds a robot suit equipped with a laser, someone who uses his shield power as an offensive weapon, a guy who changes color and increases in size to increase his combat power, several absurdly powerful archers (some of them without any powers besides being badasses), a minor character with spider powers, someone who causes explosions with finger snaps, and even a scary-tall, absurdly powerful guy with a silly-looking thing on his hand that he can use to straight up delete people off the map. Quite the list of parallels, really. Kinda inevitable with how long-running media with powers works, but still interesting.

His beauty lies precisely in this contrast between his brilliant, sensitive and generous attitude when he is not among women and his stupidity in the presence of women. Having said that, perhaps Sanji is the character who respects women the most in the entire anime, often too much (no spoilers)

I think it works for Luffy to play it out that he's dumb and doesn't think things through before acting - it both gives him room to grow, and also means that the serious moments are that much better for it. As for Sanji being the way he is... he seems a bit better in the most recent arcs, but yeah that one's not going anywhere.

Comics never really worked for me, but just because the paneling and artstyle are just not my cup of tea compared to manga. Narratively, there's really not much difference, since both tell such a wide range of stories :) I really enjoyed the MCU (until post-Endgame, anyway), for example, and don't think its structure was that different from any big battle shounen. It's all fun superpowers, epic fights, emotional moments and tragic backstories in both 🤭

Btw the music that plays while Luffy and the Camel are running away actually comes back as the theme music for a certain character that you'll meet in like another 100 episodes or so, you'll like em, trust me. 😉

The lack of rain in Arabasta is not, despite what a persistent theory claims, Crocodile doing this with his own power. If he could do that, we wouldn't have Dance Powder in the story, and we wouldn't have a thing in episode 127. Minor spoiler below. It not snowing when Ace visited Drum Kingdom isn't evidence, it just wasn't snowing that day. The single instance we have in the whole series of those type of Devil Fruits affecting weather is when they affected the entire island in a really obvious way from how it was before and the changed weather was a followup. If Ace had set the entire island on fire, maybe he'd have affected the weather then, but he didn't.

Yeah I'm with you on Sanji, his character is one I'm constantly going back and forth between "he's great" and 😕 He is the only straw hat I dont unequivocally love, unfortunately Luckily his character has some pretty great moments outside of it, so at least there is more to him outside of the pervy trope. But it's fine if you don't like his character because of it

Luffy has always been this stupid, it's just that last arc he didn't have as much of a chance to be stupid because he was trying to save Nami

I don't think Luffy is being extra-dumb here. This is all par for the course. He's just as impulsive as always, but he's in a new situation where being reckless and impulsive is way more likely to have serious consequences. I will also never stop complaining that Sanji kind of sucks.

I truly believe that you are treating Sanji unfairly. You gotta understand it. Everything in anime is exaggerated to the max. Nobody can swing dumbbells like Zoro did here, nobody loses directions like Zoro, nobody insults people like chopper when they compliment him, nobody gets dollar signs in their eyes like Nami when they see money or treasure, nobody eats as much as Luffy, nobody lies like Ussop the whole time and of course nobody simps as hard for woman as Sanji does. It’s a freaking exaggeration of a normal character trait that exists in real life. No need to quit friendship over taht

i watch One Piece for 15 years now, and i never ever skipped one Opening, every opening hyped me up even more, and tbh i never feel spoiled, i mean i know on which scene of the intro you guys are reffering but for real, even though you see that, you still have no context for it and don't know how it is happening until it happens , lol xD. So I guess, just let nerdy do what he prefers , if he want to watch the Opening just let him ngl ^^ Oh and another important aspect you should know Nerdy, literally everything in One Piece have a purpose even though it seems like it is overrated and absurd and at one point you will understand what we fans just talking about ;) , just saying :P Btw this Fighting Dugons, well let's just say remember them ^^ and btw, i love that Dugong cosplay idea, maybe i do that one day on a convention XD
