Simple Home Assistant Project - Wiz Connected Lamps 

You introduced me to these Wiz bulbs - smile from this video. Must say the best bulbs around and so easy to use in HA. So wish you where in Melbourne, if I want to monitor my power usage from the fuse box in HA is there a good legal solution for a non sparky.

@@clairerovic A way to do that without mains wiring is by reading your power meter with a pulse counter, there are a few different projects out there that do that, for example the Home Assistant Glow but it might mean you have to do some assembly, I’ve seen a few on Amazon too but I don’t know if they are any good unfortunately. If your have an old rotary meter you can use a reed switch as most meters have a magnet on the that will pass the reed switch and will pulse it, most water meters and gas meters will have something like this as well for monitoring. You can get free apps on you phone that use your camera to measure the lights pulses on your meter if you want to play around and see how it works.

@@clairerovic There is a Sunny Boy Integration for Home Assistant it should work as it is to provide data to you, I did speak to someone near me and he got his sunnyboy connected to Home Assistant via wifi. You will need to do it during light hours as it turns off with no sun

There is a pull request waiting since January for this to be integrated into the Home Assistant core. Not sure what the delay is since it seems to have been waiting for several months now. github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/44779

I will consider in in the future, I have a love hate relationship with unifi, I love it when it's working but occasionally it dies and it drives me crazy.

Hi Sam, I would say yes, but i would be cautious to not have it hard against insulation thats often in the wall to avoid over heating.

Wiz is now a core integration, go to your integrations tab, add integration, Wiz. Then either use discovery or add each light by IP address. Much easier.

I think you might need to turn on advanced mode, which you will find in the drop down side menu under your user profile which is the circle at the bottom with the user initials and the user name.
