Skate 4 was announced three years ago, and when we consider that the previous titles, Skate 1 (2007) and Skate 3 (2010), were released within a similar timeframe, it raises legitimate questions about the extended development period for the new game. It's puzzling why Skate 4 is taking longer, prompting speculation about possible reasons such as prioritizing monetization and other typical industry factors. One would expect the game to be closer to release given the timeline of its announcement.

@@ygu9425 To be fair they are implementing a lot of new features that weren’t accessible in previous games like parkour. I’ve also heard they’ve been trying to implement some mechanics that have been an absolute pain to code like slappy’s. Of course there will be some form of monetisation since it’s a free game but as long as it’s just cosmetic I have no problem with it

@@jackonthatbs the first 2 were good in terms of ragdoll, skate 3 was awful ragdol. So stiff.

Can't wait to skate around San Vansterdam with hundreds of people, speaking of, how big will the online servers be on the official game? Not map size wise but how many players will be allowed in a single open world free skate server? Would be surreal going to a spot and theres like 50 people skating around haha@@skate

​@@JAXXNCREATED depending on the way they want to run their servers, I could realistically see them supporting 50. I doubt we're going to make it to a hundred, but 50 I could see them doing easily. It's frostbite, big servers are kind of their thing haha. The only worry I have is that the 50 players will be so spread apart and that communication across that big server will be so difficult that establishing a big serverwide sesh is going to be hard. Hopefully they will add a text chat.

exactly cause gtav for example that game's online servers are so small its hard to find people if you arent in the city, so thats why I want large servers so you can go around and join people in skating a street spot and things like that but id be happy with 50 players but the problem of not finding people would happen still.

it's exciting to get to share what playtesters are actually doing in the playtests. what mechanics are they putting to the test? what works? what could be better? these highlights videos are actual players who are testing the game.

@@skate how can i become a ps5 tester? I signed up months ago. Really want to try it out. Played all 3 parts, its one of the best games. Cant even express how cool it was to play first Skate. when i was a kid.

i got accepted months back and played for awhile. my only tip would be to scour your ea profile and preferences for game testing. Update anything to help them, if you havent. theres one section that goes into more detail about skateboarding and how involved you are etc. i think it helped me get in

@AngryecksButActually several dozens hours of anguish and failed attempts at getting movement to feel fluid enough to use even for testing purposes. By that, I mean I spent a couple weeks just trying to get movement to function 🙃 Im not good at game development, lmaooo

The micro transactions will be through the roof, so im sure you will have every little piece of clothing and gear they can fit in. A deck and a pair of skate shoes will probably be close to real world cost. Knowing what kind of company ea is. Look at their other free to play game apex legends. Its ridiculously expensive. This will be no different.

Or how about forget “ragdoll” physics altogether. When’s the last time mechanics have vastly improved? I wanna see characters react to how they fall realistically. That would add more variation to gameplay and be more way more exciting than just seeing some limp lifeless object being hurled across the sky lol
