This advice is pure gold for me right now- my husband has filed divorce papers but is still at home with me and our kids. I’m an emotional person (there has been lots of begging and Crying). I have finally got ahold of my emotions and I see him responding. We have been together since we were 11 years old- married almost 16 yrs. I have asked him to come- he didn’t say “absolutely no”, it was more like “I don’t think that’s where I am right now”. I am going to continue to work on my PIES and give him some time to think about it. I am a Christian and I believe I have planted the seeds of hope - I am giving him some space for them to grow.

I can totally relate to what you’re going through right now..me and my ex were together for 17yrs and we have been talking about splitting for the last 3yrs and it’s finally come to that day. He says he’s not where I am at right now with wanting to work on starting a new foundations for our relationship but these videos have been helping me get through the anxiety of this separation. It’s the hardest thing i’ve had to go through.

I have been there. It's a hard place to be i found myself in Tennessee when my ex-wife decided she know longer wanted to be my wife. I tried everything to change her mind. She new i loved her and used it too get money out of me all the time. I think what i am trying to say is please don't let your husband go back and forth with you. It will brake you, and its hard to pick up the pieces

This is soooo tough for me. The talking it slow and day by day. I am so on frie for my marriage and just want to rush in and talk everything through and be on the same page and just get through all the steps. SMART Contact with Your Spouse: (S)top push behaviors. These are anything that your spouse might interpret as being manipulative, controlling, whining, begging, or pleading. (M)anage "business" items together (not marriage or emotion-specific, but those involving children, taxes, etc). Ask if it is ok to call before calling. Face-to face is preferred, after that phone, then email, then text message. Don't do anything that you feel might cause a negative reaction. (A)llow your spouse to start conversations with you. If your spouse reaches out to you, don't ignore her. (R)espond in a way that is calm, strong and gentle. (T)ake it one day at a time. Try not to blow it, but if you do, tomorrow is another day.

No if you feel like it allow your estranged wife to reach out to you. Put the shoe on the other foot for the women . Gentleman treat women just the way men have always been treated. and are now. Cut no slack. the minute they get argumentative or raise a voice. cut em off. If They don't have a calm businesslike objective communication mode don't communicate. Zero tolerate.😢

Struggled is real, I fell so traumatized and hurt by repeated behaviors that I don't trust and so scared to even try to work it out, lip service and check the box behaviors alone with words and actions not matching. He left and told me he was trying to prove a point. I think point was made and I'm not so sure I want to move forward would love to have help and direction. I do take marriage seriously but I'm struggling to trust and take him serious.

I totally understand why some people coming from messy 💔 marriages feel sceptical about the video. BUT as for me, the main thing here is to allow yourself🙏 being IMPERFECT while implementing the principles. I've been struggling in my marriage for 10 years now (of course, there were some amazing Ups, but there were some unbelievably terrible Downs as well). I want to learn implementing the info, yet my goal is to go slow and avoid being judgemental towards myself ❤️

Am a father of 2 beautiful girls who left his wife of nearly 5 years to be free and able to date. I've flipped flopped and hurt her too many times for many reasons, including the fact that we rushed through our marriage cycle including having children. We never had time to grow together and I resented her for alot of things, things I see now after being apart from her for 10 months. She won't take me back but let's me be around her and the kids as much as possible, including gettaways and weekend trips, but because of all the damage, lies and cheating that I've caused her, she hates me. We filed for divorced but I managed to get her to hold the papers at the lawyers just a bit longer. I want to save this marriage. I want her to see the man that she fell in love with again. I just feel hopeless

Kevin Glassberg I’m going through a separation right now. It’s painful and hurts so much. Something I learned is to realize that the men we were is the reason why they pushed us away. We made mistakes we can’t take back, the only thing we can do is fix what we destroyed. We need to be anew. Better men, our improved selfs. We have hurt them in the past, and we have to make that change. They want to feel safe, respected and able to let their guard down and be vulnerable around us. Using the PIES technique helps so much. It helps us cope with the feelings we have and keeps our mind off the situation at hand temporarily, because we have to change Physically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually. When they see this change in us, maybe the waves won’t be so rough. I formed a stronger relationship with god, something that’s different for me and it helps me through the day. God bless you brother, let’s become the men they deserve.

I kicked my husband out Sunday when I saw a text message from him to his LO saying, "I love you 😘". Now he wants to move back in "to be with the kids", but still stay with his LO, who is also married. We haven’t spoken in almost a month and a half. Not a single word. I’m in spare room to make her more comfortable but when I try to spark a conversation the two times I did I got “I AM NOT COMMUNICATING WITH YOU”. She file for divorce two weeks ago. When is it ok to have a conversation about an issue and when I think it’s a good time to talk about it I get push back? So here we are 10 years later and we have soooo many unresolved issues bc my husband avoids issues like the plague. I have asked over the years to go to counseling, workshops, conferences and it is always a resounding no. My husband calls me almost everyday. But all he does is complain about his dispatcher, the drivers, etc. I listen, I tell him I understand his frustrations. Then he has to go, he’s getting another call, he’ll call me right back. I don’t hear from him until the next day. Im almost positive he is having an affair

Tammy Almanza does your husband work for ups or another delivery company? It sounds just like my phone calls with my husband. I’m pretty sure my husband is having an emotional affair with someone but I’ve never been more hopeful for our marriage, even though it sounds absurd to everyone, including him. You have to keep your faith, and truly listen to marriage helper, they have really sound advice.

Great advice! Finally advice that puts marriage first and not just give advice on how to get the next bride or quick tap. But as a husband with a wife who is pulling away I wish you would not talk only of women using your technique for men only. I have been married 28 years. We have had a hard marriage. She asked me to leave to give her space . I refused. Then I pleaded and begged. She pulls away further and tells me she wants a divorce. Any contact is deemed wrong. Even heard another expert that said "don't" as they hate you more with each attempt, So no contact, what then? What's this menopause thing that report says it's when most divorces are filed by women aged 50 -70 of which most regret? Is this true? So much hurt. I have been apart from my wife 2 5 years. I temporarily live in New Zealand and she my wife lives in Brisbane Australia. What happens when it's only me that rings every couple of weeks. Sometimes she answers due to the way she is feeling. We do communicate reasonably well, but on a friendship level. She knows I love her. However she never tells me that. I don't know really how she feels as she doesn't communicate her feelings to me?

Colorado Forest Beings Things have been getting better, but that path is not straight...and much slower than anyone wants. Its take a lot of patience to saturate in healthy habits & responses...one must realize that changes have to be life long, you don’t do the things Joe talks about just to get someone back, the behaviors have to define you.

So how long do you give your spouse to respond? For example if I need him to check on our child while I work on Sunday. If I ask him on Wednesday and he doesn’t respond, do I wait until Friday or Saturday to check in? I need time to make other plans, and might not be able to if I wait too long.

I typically agree with most things I hear from these videos but isnt this in essence allowing your spouse to essentially “use” you or having their cake and eating it too? You don’t get me and her. That’s not indecision. That’s deciding I want both in whatever capacity I can have it. Deciding you want one or the other would be remaining alone/uninvolved while working towards reconciliation.

My husband and I have been separated since May 2020. He sends me a voicemail once a day - Only at night time after the whole day is over. Its hurtful to be treated this way and because he puts me last, I just don’t return the call or any messages. I only contact him when necessary. BTW, he’s been having an affair for quite some time and I’m obviously not the one he cares to contact throughout his day. I’ve decided to let him go and allow him to live his life as he has chosen. I refuse to make him change what he really wants for himself or force him to choose me. I’m not an option.

I went on vacation with my family On the 5th of this month I tried to ask It's my baby father he said he didn't want to go and he doesn't think that my daughter should have went so she didn't go.. Then we have an argument speaker you meant because the date got pushed up and I ended up having to leave on Thursday nstead of FridayHe thought that I was doing this on purpose.. He argued with me my whole trip.. He keeps telling me he doesn't want to be with me. But I'm not trying to get back with him.. I'm trying my best to have a good relationship with him and be peaceful. Don't get me wrong I love him and hope that we will get along and work everything out.. Someday he keeps telling me I'm being manipulated and brainwashed by my mother.. I keep telling him that he needs to talk to herBut he won't do it and yet he keeps on talking about her.
