"HAHAHAHA" - Lilim, 2020
Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: www.romhacking...
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- Orthrus HP: 1000 → 1800
- XP: 150 → 300
- Yaksini HP: 1200 → 2400
- XP: 300 → 400
- Zandyne → Tornado
- Thor HP: 2000 → 3300
- Ziodyne → Mjolnir (Mega elec damage + high chance of shock)
- Diarama now heals considerably more
This trio of bosses is as basic as ever. Orthrus and Yaksini are both somewhat scripted (they seem to always use specific spells at certain HP thresholds, meaning if you rush them down quick enough they'll never use physical attacks). Yaksini is particularly funny - having spread Void Force around to everyone, the battle is literally impossible to lose. Getting Anti-Mind to upgrade to Void Mind here was essential for the upcoming fights against Dante and Daisoujou, and will remain incredibly useful throughout the game.
Thor is the only somewhat tricky customer. His crit rate is through the roof and even with max buffs a crit will one shot your demons if he lands one. Fortunately he misses a lot at +2/-2 and mostly opts to focus on electric spells, which can only hurt the Demi-Fiend. Mjolnir is scary and there's another Sketchy Hardtype Moment™ here, but hey, a win is a win. In hindsight I could've put some of the 10 million Magic Mirrors I've acquired from pester to use here, but then that would just drag the battle out and give him more chances to critspam me to death instead.
