I just ordered a set (5-GW) of JPX923 forged irons. I was gaming JPX850's that I bought quite a while ago. Before that I played MP68's. I am a died in the wool Mizuno fan. I fell in love with my MP68's. The feel of those irons is simply incredible. At the age of 73 I need a bit of help and am eagerly awaiting my 923 forged irons.

Hi Mark! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! I really hope you enjoy the 923 Forged when they arrive - do let me know how you get on! I love my Mizuno irons too now I’ve had a set! 👍🏼

Congratulations on the new irons. Great video, you are a wealth of welcome information, plus you are a lefty like me! Would love to see how they play on a course! Now I need to look at your driver videos. Again great job, these videos take a lot of time to produce, I am truly impressed and thankful!

Hi Bama! Thanks for watching another of my videos! I really appreciate the kind words! I am still fairly new to this and learning as I go (trying to make each video a little better than the last!) so lovely comments like yours really do mean a lot - thank you! I'm planning on filming some more on course content in the near future, to mix things up, so hopefully you'll see them on the course soon! All the best! Luke 👍

I love seeing someone with a similar club head speed as me. Some of the other reviews i've seen are guys swinging it 95+ mph and watching their 7i going 200+ yards just seems so unrealistic.

Hi bmoon11! Thanks for watching my video! That’s EXACTLY the reason I started the channel… I was watching reviews and feeling the same as you! I wanted to see clubs and ball tests that were relatable! Btw I’ve had the irons a few weeks now and I love them more with every week! 👍🏼

@bmoon11 that’s really kind, thank you! I hope you enjoy the content! I always take suggestions for product reviews too so don’t be afraid of asking and if I can get access to it then I’ll add it to the list and film asap! Regarding the iron shafts it’s the Nippon NS Pro 950 GH in regular flex! Hope that helps!

Thank you for the excellent video! I just found your channel and subscribed. I like that you have a similar swing speed to me, which is refreshing to see. Have you tried the JPX 923 Hot Metal HL? At around 75 mph clubhead speed with a 7 iron the performance of the HL was amazing for me. I think you would also be very impressed with the Hot Metal versions versus the forged for that extra pop of height and distance. Curious if you’ve tried them? Also, Srixon ZX5 Mark Ii are amazing irons.

Hi Richard! Thank you for watching and subscribing that’s really kind of you! I haven’t tried the Hot Metal HL but will take a look in the studio tomorrow to see if they have them in leftie and could film a comparison! I’m desperate to film some Srixon iron reviews - the place I film at doesn’t stock them in leftie yet but they are adding more every month so fingers crossed I can get my hands on them soon! All the best! 👍🏼

It's like looking in the mirror! Thanks for the great review, Luke. I've just tested and ordered a set of JPX 923 Forged. I think we hit the ball about the same distance. I noticed though that I was getting a higher launch angle, more spin, and the difference between carry and total distance for me was only about 4-5 yards. I tested with Aerotech SteelFiber i95 regular shafts, so maybe that could explain it.

Hi Mark! Thanks for watching and for your comment! I’m so glad the video was relatable for you as that’s exactly why I started the channel! Really interesting to hear the slight subtle differences too. I am naturally a low spin and ball flight player, it’s a part of my swing dna that I’m constantly trying to improve through lessons! So I wish I was getting results closer to yours out of them! Haha! The shafts will 100% be playing their part too! So sounds like you’ve got a great setup! 👍🏼

Hiya luke...mate just a quick question ..are you still using the swing plate?? And if so hows it working for you...and the speed stick system hows that going mate ...an update be good cherrs
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 10 месяцев назад
Hi Pete! Thanks for the questions! 1. Swing Plate - I still use it occasionally. I’m going through a process of trying to not have lessons at the moment and take some of the overthinking with my swing… when my swing gets out of kilter I usually hit balls using the swing plate as my tendencies are to get too steep. I really enjoy the product and would definitely recommend it. Like most practice aids I think they are often overpriced if you look at the product on its own but the versatility of the Swing Plate and how it can help your swing is worth the money in my experience. 2. Speed Sticks - I love them. The main issue I’ve experienced is that you’ve really got to stick with it and form that regular habit of 20 mins a session 3x a week - particularly at the beginning which has been my failing. However when I use them I quickly see the benefits. I’m back into Week 2 at the moment and really trying to drill the habit for good this time! I’m looking to review the new Superspeed Squeeze soon too. Hope that helps - any specific follow up questions please fire them over! 👍🏼

Do you think dirt and stuff will get caught in the back of the cavity? One of the reasons I'm looking at the jpg tour as it doesn't have any gap in the back where dirt and crap can get stuck.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 9 месяцев назад
Hi Ricky! I’ve owned mine for 2-3 months now and not had any issues with that. Although it has been the summer months with firmer ground conditions. I do get the concern though as I had it with my older irons. I think you may get the odd bit in the middle of winter but nothing that would put me off buying the irons if they were the right ones for me otherwise. I hope that helps and thanks for watching! 👍🏼

Got fitted for the i525’s with the tour lite KBS 100 stiff. When I hit them solid wasn’t really any feel, and they are definitely rocket ships. But with them being high launching club/shaft combo my shots were ballooning (85-88 swing speed) not to mention they’re really clicky. Beautiful irons just not for me, not to mention 5/4 we’re like hitting chop sticks, one tick of grass grabs the blade and good luck. Went back and got fitted into some Jpx forged with a 110 stiff kbs and they felt like butter. Came from some jox hot metal pros so I knew better than to attempt pings. Once you hit a mizuno there’s really no going back.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 9 месяцев назад
Hi Wade! Thanks for sharing your experience! I actually had almost the same experience! Hit the Ping i525’s first, numbers were good and I like Ping as a brand particularly in Driver/Fairway Woods as I play them but didn’t get enough feel out the irons, very similar to my experience testing the latest G430 irons too. Hit the Mizuno’s later in my fitting and was sold on the first or second hit on the feel and the numbers were just as good! Really great to hear your thoughts and thanks for watching my video! 👍🏼

Totally understand where you are coming from started from g410s big clicky distance gi irons. Just even with a pure shot doesn’t feel good. Played a 225 7 iron and just the feel and sound changed my looks on irons currently going 225 short irons jpx forged long irons. Game is a big part mental and mizuno fills that void ontop of my accuracy has gotten a lot better with a smaller head when I am striking correctly. when I strike toe or heel you getting taught a life lesson .

Just ordered the 923 forged and I’m coming from Srixon ZX5 that honestly were great. They have the KBS tour c taper light 105 regular shafts but they started to feel a little heavy. The 923s I got fitted with the Nippon Neo Modus 950GH regular. 5 weeks wait time, guess the ZX5s will have to do for now ;) We have similar swing speeds… around 80 usually so I’m hoping our numbers are similar 😊

Hi Detector! Thanks for watching my video! TBH I really like the Srixon irons but haven’t got chance to film with a set of leftie ones yet but I think you’ll be happy with the 923 Forged. I’ve had mine a few months now and they are brilliant. Best irons I’ve owned. They feel great and the numbers, for me, are excellent. I’m sure those 5 weeks of winter will fly by and you’ll have a good month to get used to them before we head into the spring and start of the golf season! All the best and Merry Christmas! 👍🏼

Good review. These are on my radar as i suspect they are more satisfying to hit than the hollow body construction used by most competitors. I also read that they are more forgiving than the newer TM P790s and ultimately yield better results in distance and dispersion for the avg swing speed golfer. An issue may be the lofts which, as typical in players distance irons, may not be all that suitable for the slower swing golfer who needs higher launch angles to attain adequate carry distances with the longer irons, and stopping power with the shorter irons. A good full set fitting would sort this out. Unfortunately proper fitting is not easily available close to home in most countries across Europe.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 10 месяцев назад
Hi R Adam! I’ve not tested the new P790s yet but aim to do this in the next two to three weeks and it will be a comparison to the Mizuno irons as well for baselining purposes. Yes as I’ve found in all my reviews as a low ball flight, low spin player I’m always looking for more of both and stronger lofts generally make that more difficult unless I go for the game improvement irons which due to their size and construction generally generate higher ball speeds with the CG pulled lower and further back to offset the static loft with height and launch. In the Mizuno’s I’m definitely seeing an improvement on the course Vs my old Titleist T200s. The place I get fitted at does fit you with a 6 iron instead of 7 irons like most places so this did give me more confidence as like you say it’s the longer irons where the risk gets introduced! If you don’t mind me asking, where are you based? Hope that helps! 👍🏼

Hi Adjune! Thanks for watching my video and for your question. I might be wrong but I’ve always considered a mid-handicapper to be between 10-20 handicap. I play off 12 and would say I’m a mid-handicapper unless I got to single figures. Would you agree?
