When the Klonoa was announced for Switch, my mind IMMEDIATELY went back to this video, just thinking "yay! He's celebrating with us!"

Figured I'd come back to this after seeing the announcement of Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series in the future. Really, I'm hoping that this will be the time when Klonoa finally gets some footing with decent sales.

Klonoa, forgotten? Hah! More like stored on a shelf like a fine collectible whisky, except the bottle don't empty as you indulge in it every now and then. It's a staple of the times, too. I recently played it for my friend (who owns it actually) because he never got to finish it as a kid. It still holds as a playthrough, even though it's doable and 100%'able within a few hours. We gotta keep these kinda things stored. If people just consume and consume and forget what came to pass, what is there to reminisce afterwards? Build up that library, keep the records of history stacked ever higher. Someone out there is going to have a knack for that neo-retro stuff later on, and you're gonna be providin' it.

April 30th 2019. I sank a solid hour into this channel today. Worth it. Would do again.

Came here because of your birthday video. And I'm in shock. I mean, I've watched a lot of your videos and never saw this one, even scrolling through all your uploads. I mean, it's there, I just didn't notice it. AND KLONOA IS MY FAVORITE FRANCHISE for frick sake, I've played every single one (besides the Heroes ARPG for GBA), I even played Moonlight Museum with a translation open in another tab. And Lunatea's Veil is just magic. And I want just to state my appreciation for this video, amazing work, Joseph, if you want to make more of this or something like it, I'd love to watch every new video. But really, good job, that was awesome.

Coming back after watching this when it was released (your QnA reminded me to give it a second watch). And I gotta say this video is such a great example of why I watch JoCat videos. He's not just the "crap guides" guy, but a passionate person who will create what he wants because others should hear about it. *chef's kiss* Bravo Jocat, Bravo.

Hotdamn dude this was excellent. It's not often that I care to see a 36 minute long video about a game I know literally nothing about and at the end say "aw, it's done". It reminds me a bit of Super Eyepatch Wolfs 'why you should watch' series, both in feel and quality.

When i was younger, I was the only one I knew that Knew about Klonoa , So - thank you for making this, it was a very kind thing to do.

flash forward to Feb 2022, and we’re getting remakes of both 1 and 2 😭

I always saw Lolo's memories as the way she specifically remembers events, and that those memories were influenced by her own doubts and fears. When a memory hurts or even traumatizes you, it's difficult to remember it as faithfully to the actual event as you can remember normal occurrences. Another thing, I absolutely adore how Lolo's dialogue during the ending about how Klonoa resembles their own Godess Claire, implies that Klonoa, or another member of his species with his same Dream Traveler ability, has visited Lunatea in the past, and was worshiped as a God.

There is one last bit of hope for the Klonoa series. A Klonoa anime movie is in the works by Henshin with Hitoshi Ariga handling the film script and the creator of the first game will be the producer of the film. The concept art of Klonoa's film attire is very promising. Just spreading the word of the Klonoa anime movie becoming a thing and not a rumor.

Now After watching the video... Wow just wow what incredible work. The sheer amount of nostalgia that rushed through me throughout the video. I absolutely ADORE the soundtrack of this game. It has so much love and expression put into it AAH. Volkies', Mira Mira and Cursed Leorina are my favourites. And all the tracks from 5th kingdom. God I love them so much. This was actually the first video game my dad bought me when i was like 6. I... didn't really understand much that was going on but I liked it. .I think. There were parts that were actually scary to me as a smol child such as the latter half of the amusement park D: or scary chasing red destructionrobotguardianthing boss. I didn't even actually get to finish the game myself back then because I got stuck in Maze of Memories for a long time. ...also cause English is a foreign language to me so I didnt understand a word. So a decade later I replayed the game and GODDAMN I absolutely fell in love with it. The level design, the music, the character design, the unique visual design as a whole?! is something that still gives me the thrills. And this time I actually was good at English! When I realised what the story was ACTUALLY trying to to tell about emotions, especially sorrow it... really got to me. I was more or less shocked in a good way. I mean like, in what kind of kids' game do you get that kind of stuff? That's amazing! King of Sorrow still tears me up. So do quite a few tracks. And ending with Lolo oh god oh fuck... As 20 something yrs old Im still replaying the game every few years. Last time just 6 months ago. With my original ps2 copy (wow they really are that rare nowadays :o )which ive kept a very good care of. I just. This youtube video is one in a million. It shouldn't exist. I had already accepted that Klonoa will die forgotten. Like it never was. As if it never existed. Yet here it is. I just don't have the words for express how im feeling right now. ...Thank you. Thank you so much. I loved every part of it. I loved your video. I adored your little animation pieces. And the jokes. Bless your soul. Thank you. Favourite'd.

You could consider Klonoa 2 to be an allegory of sorts of Klonoa overcoming his trauma and sadness that came from being betrayed by who he thought was his best friend. Even if it was for the greater good, it's pretty messed up what Huepow did.

Revisiting this because of the Klanoa 1 and 2 port announcement today! I'm so excited to finally get the chance the play these games later this year. Thank you so much, Jocat, for introducing me to this series! I have a feeling they may become some of my favorite games once I get a chance to play them myself.

If you listen carefully to when the characters address other characters by name, you can hear the intended pronunciations. Leorina is pronounced "Lee-oh-ree-na", which you can hear Klonoa say dramatically whenever he sees her and exclaims her name.

Ironically I recently realized that they took out a remastered. After years the fantasy literally revives. I think maybe the story can continue and the dream with Klonoa in this generation can enjoy. Once again, the ring shine.

So the ending you did was really good. I loved the entire presentation of it. The music, started slow and sad but slowly building up to the final statement of hope, but nothing big and blaring, just subtle. The slow pans and the appearance of the ring. Top Tier. I like to think this did contribute to Phantom Reverie's existence. I remember this being a very well put together video analysis of an absolute classic. Quality blend of personal animation over some nice commentary; came back to be surprised it's a 5 year old video! Mad.

This reminds me of the video style that summoning salt does, its like half an hour or longer and gets into detail of something fascinating. - Great thumbnail and storytelling - very informative and detailed 11/10 would watch again

I'll admit that I've never played Klonoa games -- I was losing interest in platformers when I became aware of their existence back in the day -- but the nostalgia you have for this title really comes through. 26:49 Actually an interesting detail is that all the "random" little interludes are actrually remixes of songs from both klonoa 1 and 2. I think that's really cool and helps elevate this song to be my favorite one in the franchise.
