I really love this series so far. Lois Lane is the best she's ever been. I love how how much she looks and acts like Luz. That can't be a coincidence, right?
You're right, Mikey - it was supposed to be a Cartoon Network thing, but Zaslav was slashing budgets left and right, and Cartoon Network passed on airing this series to keep their current stable as-is. Adult Swim stepped in to air it, because otherwise it wasn't going to air period.
As someone who has been frustrated lately with all of the dark takes on Superman, this series is like a breath of fresh air. I'm loving it so far and looking forward to watching your reactions!
There is so much Owl House inspiration here it's mind boggling. Lois is basically Luz's design and energy as a grown up. Clark is Willow, the shy one with a lot of hidden power, and even Jimmy is Gus, the super-excitable guy obsessed with other species (for Gus it was humans, and for Jimmy it's paranormals like aliens and merpeople). Loving the show so far.
As a fan of the 1990s “Superman: The Animated Series”, I think this show is incredible! From the artwork to the character writing, it’s great all around!
Honestly, this is more mature than most of the stuff on Adult Swim. A lot of that crap is juvenile, this has a level of sophistication to its approach. Seeing characters through their thought processes and making them feel like real people is a refreshing change of pace. Anywho, this was indeed a Cartoon Network production originally, but got shifted over to Adult Swim so it can air and not get axed. But yeah, great reaction man! :D
Its so nice to see a series that ignores the goddamn Kill Bill monologue and embraces the fact that Clark Kent is not some constructed alter ego but his actual upbringing.
The Electric Blue powers are an ability from the comics introduced in the 90s. They aren't normally brought into mainstream adaptations because it was more modern and the circumatances behind their conception are... Odd. But all things considered a lot of this premiere is classic Superman, from the vibe of Metropolis, to deep cuts like Flip Johnson and the Newsboy legion. I was actually surprised at how much of the more obscure stuff they dug up.

Seems ironic that I just finished watching the two episodes today before watching your reaction to it 😄 I really dig the style of this animation as it seems like a WebToon comic style that pop with a light touch of Japanese comic. Also the look of Lois seems to be very cute in a way that it remind me of Luz from Owl House. As I seen a trend saying “Luz Lois” as it seems very interesting but cool that you can see it.
That's actually a good question I've also wondered how hard does Clark need to get hit to feel pain , I imagine getting hit by that robot to Clark is like the equivalent of any of us getting hit by like idk a soccer ball to the face at full force he'll hurt like hell and maybe knock us off our feet but we'll be able to get up and keep going after a little bit Lol 😂
@@MikeyVenture I know right ! , like we all know getting hit stabbed or shot with kryptonite for Superman is like for us getting getting stabbed or shot with a regular knife or gun it's fatal but what is like getting hit by a opponent on his level haha Lol
This is something I've given quite a bit of thought to, especially since I often play with the idea of making my own comics. The answer I've settled on is that characters with superhuman strength still feel pain as normal, otherwise they'd have no control over their own strength, since all forms of physical sensation would be equally numbed. So Clark getting hit by the robot would still be immensely painful, it just wouldn't do all that much actual damage.
Canonically, Clark can mentally block his access to his powers and therefore an exceptionally strong person could seriously hurt him. Normal punches would be like a mouse attempting to 1-Ko you with punches. But that robot could definitely take him out of commission. Later in life with access up to all his powers, a robot like that would be like you getting hit with brittle styrofoam, but for now
I’m of an anime guy but this show so far is really really good. I have a few problems mainly with the look and weird casting of a certain villain in episode 2 but besides that it’s really good!
Yeah I was a little thrown off about who you are talking about, but I'm instilling a wait and see since these are a very much younger version of these characters. But I get it!

Id say the edgy superman we have been getting is because they have been getting Batman style or writing and stories put into characters that some could kinda adapt into the batman edgyness but it never fits Superman because he is the mirror or Batman in every way and if writers dont know how to writer superman well we get a clark/superman that breaks down by the word "martha"
I got to watch part one on the Adult Swim youtube. It was such a great time! I was looking forward to this and it's what I have been hoping for in a Superman show. Clark is a giant lovable dork who just wants to help out. Jimmy is into a bunch of conspiracy stuff that happens to be true in the DCU. Lois might've stolen the show for me though. She's so excited to become a reporter! She reminds me a lot of Luz from Owl House. I'm so excited to get to watch more of this show.
6:45 I mean that's basically what Sherlock Holmes do with the Backer Street Irregulars, so yeah, I'll say it's a good strat to gather infos. they seems to have chosen to go with a super Saiyan type power for superman (read that some comics have that ?) I like this approche since a big issue with superman, especially with an origin story, is how powerful he is, he is supposed to go toes to toes with like Darkseid, Zod, Doomsday and stuff so how could he have trouble with fcking toyman, livewire and others ? having him not always at full power is a good answer imho
Yeah another commenter mentioned that a lot of the stuff with his powers is being pulled from some 90s era stuff, and I think that’s a very good approach for this
@@MikeyVenture I've been rewatching the whole series just so I can catch every single reference in the movie. Also, to answer your question, I think this series was originally intended for Cartoon Network, but CN studios isn't really a think anymore. So it premieres on Adult Swim, but reruns on Toonami and Cartoon Network's Acme Block on Sunday.
@@exceedcharge1 Uh no, how would it help. If people are about to whine about erasure why can't gingers and redheads? While I'm not 100% against changing characters for one-off things, they're essentially trying to remake Jimmy Olsen to be black now.
