Dr. Eric Fiegl-Ding, a researcher from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, in Boston, MA, and Dr. Daniel Zoughbie, a researcher from the Institute of International Studies, at the University of California at Berkeley, review their article appearing in the July 2024 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where they demonstrated via a randomized controlled trial that good health behaviors can influence broader communities of people from the good behaviors of small groups of people in regard to obesity and diabetes. Dr. Feigl-Ding and Dr. Zoughbie found weight loss, waist circumference, and other improved metabolic markers resulted from the social interventions and that the effects remained after 6 month follow up, indicating the sustainability of the intervention.
