Hey mate, great looking bike, so good in fact that I’ve actually bought it, I was wondering if you have any other videos or a list of mods done, or anything that I should look out for?
Hey mate the list of all the mods done to the bike were in this video. I traded the bike in as I wanted to go with the newer gen softail otherwise I would have kept it. I found that the 110 engine got stupid hot in slow moving traffic. I actually bought a heat shield for it which mounts above the rear rocker cover. I was going to install it but never got around to it. I actually still have the heat shield and will wack it up on eBay 👍
Awesome bike...well done! Can you tell me where you got the forward control kit? The part number that Harley has for the U.S. says it is not for the slim? Thanks and best wishes:)!
Gday mate the part number for the forward controls on the Australian Harley Heaven website is HD33909-08A. You will note on the website these forward controls also state it specifically does not fit the softail slim however I can confirm they work without any modification needed 👍
Hey man sorry for the late reply, I just got the notification for your message. I bought the forward controls from the Harley Heaven website. I'll attach a link. The website states the forwards dnt fit the softail slim but I can certainly confirm they do. The part number is 33909-08A www.harleyheaven.com.au/for-the-bike/foot-controls/forward-controls/harley-davidson-forward-control-kit-chrome-for-fl-softail.html
Hey mate I only changed the front rim. I always had plans to do the rear but I sold the bike beforehand. I did a vid on talking about the 21 inch front wheel 🤙
Thank you sorry that you sold your slim your street Bob looks good real good too Awesome work on both bike do you remember the size of tire you put on the front of your slim
Hey Adrian I didn't need to change the cables for the 8 inch drag bars to work. In the video it says the bars have a 9 inch rise but theyre actually 8 inch. That being said If you went bars of a higher rise than 8 inches you would need to change the cables.
Hey Jeff, the front wheel does change the handling of the bike. The bike feels a bit heavier in the front end and the lean angle is affected a little. That being said I couldn't stand the look of the 16 inch front wheel and this mod was purely for aesthetic reasons.
What fender riser did you use and where the handling/ lean angle/ weight so drastic that it made a large difference and if u had to do it again would u go with a 19”? Thank u for any help here
I believe the fender risers were the custom dynamics brand but I cant entirely remember as it was a while ago now. I went with the 21 inch front wheel souly for aesthetics as im not a fan of the look of a 19 inch front wheel. My current street bob has a 19 inch wheel and im swaping it out for a 21 inch. The handling did change significantly with the 21 inch front wheel. The bike felt more stable at speed however the turning at slow speed felt much heavier in the front end. The bike felt easier to turn with the stock front wheel
@@TheGingybeardMan thank u for the reply! Last question because obviously I want to do it and I’m nervous lol. In twisters at speeds above 50 did it f with you in the curves
@@darktimbercustomknives6248 if you 50kph being quite slow the bike felt heavy in the front on tight turns but if you mean 50mph the bike handled better at speed and didn't feel near as heavy
@@darktimbercustomknives6248 19 inch would handle better as it would be lighter but in my opinion the 21 inch looks much better. But that's personal preference
I bought the front wheel from an Australian company called easy R cycles. The wheel is a DNA mammoth 21 inch front. It cost $500 to mount the wheel as the caliper needed to be machined and the rotor spaced out to meet the caliper
What a beauty!!!! I watched your vids after I bought 21” wheel in front and got a standard softail fender and ran into the same problems of it not fitting . I want to use the stock fender now but can you please tell me where to get the risers you mentioned?
@Gabriel Montana go onto the jpcycles.com website. The part you are looking for is the Drag specialities Black fork to fender adapter for 21 inch front wheel. The Jp Cycles Part number is 633-984.
Yes there is, the part number for the forward controls on the Australian Harley Heaven website is HD33909-08A. You will note on the website these forward controls also state it specifically does not fit the softail slim however I can confirm they work without any modification needed.
@Shawn Little, thank you sir, the fuel guage and cap are the Harley Davidson flushmount cap and guage kit, part number: HD75027-08C I cant wait to pick up the softail street bob in a fortnights. I've got so many plans for it.
Was alot more comfy than the stock bars. I like my arms just below shoulder height so I reckon 10 inch risers or a little higher would have been better.
