Solve Your Samsung Ice Maker Woes Once and for All 

Thanks for showing these straight forward steps. I've had 3 Samsung firdges over the past years and everyone of them needed an ice maker replacement of some kind. Mine has the new setup where the top assembly comes out separately so it makes it a bit easier to pull out, but still a hassle and a sour thing to have to spend over a hundred bucks for. You showing how to release the whole assembly by pushing in with the screwdriver on the side saved me many cuss words and probably breaking something. 😀Thanks!

Great video. FYSA the new same model Samsungs allow for you to remove the ice assembly without removing the whole unit. It was very very easy to replace. So disregard the first two bolts and remove top cover. Three bolts holder ice maker in place and then only one plug is disconnected. Finally remove 4 screws for ice assembly dish and you are done removing.

You were right on target. Came apart just as you described. Took the old part out and just waiting for the replacement. You saved me tons of time and I appreciate that.

I had a different problem (would not dump ice). changed the same part but could not have done it without this video. Getting that tab to release was a bear.

I had the exact same issue, with the crack in the ice tray in the EXACT same place. Bought mine brand new in late 2021. Seems like a serious manufacturing defect. I'm not gonna pay 150$ for an entire ice maker unit just because the tiniest sliver of plastic cracked (especially considering that it will probably also just crack in a year.) I also wasn't able to order the ice cube tray through Samsung, but I did find an aftermarket distributor who would sell it. It's on it's way now, hopefully it is in fact the correct part. If not I'll have to find some other way. You said glue won't work, but I wonder about resin or silicone. Either way I refuse to pay Samsung's ice tax.

LOL. I have an older Samsung an ice maker that is flawed as well. It uses a metal tray and it has a heater element underneath that's supposed to heat the metal tray to release it. I've replaced it 3 times because it stops heating. And like in usual Samsung fashion, you have to replace the entire ice maker at about $150 a pop. So after a class action suit, nothing was learned nor solved. Their at it again. Samsung switched to a new twist method with another design flaw. Now you need to deal with a broken plastic tray. Expect to have to replace it every couple of years at $150 a pop. Great job Samsung...a whole new bunch of victims.
