While it makes sense, it can be a flawed concept in modern times. In the past, yes, picking the difficult option in life could lead to more success, but in modern times there are far more external factors that can prevent this notion from being true. Take the student example. Student A studies hard, gets good grades, and goes to a respectable college. Student B does the bare minimum. Student A goes to college, does well, and then enters the job market, but only to struggle in getting hired or has to take a low-income job just to survive. Student B gets Daddy money and company. Student A has done all of this and is not repping the benefits of all the hard work because of the economy or job market. Student B lives an easier life having never experienced hardship. Sometimes making sacrifices, for long-term gain can be painful, you'll close your eyes put the work in, and then boom you're in your thirties. REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE.
You either suffer the pain of discipline or regret you cannot know what actions will cause the most happiness what may cause you happiness now could cause strife due lack of options in the future self improvement will open up many options in the future
True.but "no pain no gain" is too simple of an idea . in my opinion. There has to be a way to gain pleasures and health simultaneously. Safety and fun.
@@cold485 your right you can suffer both pain simultaneously as well as feeling happy is all about having someone to love something to do and something to hope for.dopamine is a motivation chemical not just the chemical of pleasure you can do anything you want to find happiness although you should always properly educate yourself and find a balance of pleasure and growth like you said. Watch after skools video on Immanuel kant if you want it may be a beautiful learning experience
Well but i could also argue, that i suffer pain now, to maximize the Joy throughout my life in the Future, wouldnt that also bei hedonism? Take the girl as example, she might have calculated how much Joy a good Job and good pay will give her in the Future and through this, studying hard now would be the Most hedonistic Thing, to maximize Joy in the end. Hedonism doesnt have to be short sighted
