In this chaotic time, I too was moved by this iteration of ordinary lives. So many manipulators out there. Nice to see normalcy. Bet your great and maybe your great great would have loved to have seen that outfit you have there on the bridge... Not much else has changed... better winches... (that didn't sound right).

I was at that point when the Moon landings were the thing and I had model rockets (not the flying type) and GI Joes, etc. Now, 55 years later, I can say that some of what I did over the years made it onto Space Shuttle Mission experiments. I can be proud of that. And I now have both the one ounce and the five ounce silver proof Apollo Eleven commemorative coins. Did not buy in time to get the gold coin. I wish I had. They have all gone up a lot. Then I learned how to water ski and my dad was proud of that, I guess. The last time I did that was over 40 years ago. And he played drums, but I never did take up an instrument. I recently bought a $500 electronic kit. At 64 I will tap around on them, but not much more. Mostly a memory trigger device.

My Dad died of cancer when I was 16. He was an executive chef for Marriot. Against my Mom's wishes, I'd often skip school to go to work with Dad, plus quite a lot of my summer breaks after I was about 12 years old. He was diagnosed in September of 1980, and he died on December 23, 1980. I am so thankful for all of the memories I have and have been able to share with my younger siblings and my own kids. Keep this up Jacob and crew!

Your son is such a beautiful child! He will remember and appreciate going to work with you all his life. My father took me to work with him when I was 7 or 8 (he was teaching flight training to foreign military students at that point). I even remember the diagram he drew and explanation he gave of the physics of how a plane can lift off and fly. I’m 73 and can still remember it as if it were yesterday. Btw he also had a great and slightly warped sense of humor like you, lol. Miss him so much.

the best part about this video was the fact that your dad was more happier then you that his grandson was on the boat with you saying it was one of his best days lobersting ur dad lives for those moments i guess Edit: for your son's age he caught on extremely fast and was even able to do some hard task by himself.. that just proves that generation traits simply get passed down to each generation whether you kno it or not. Because I'm almost certain if you put another kid on that boat who is his exact age without anyone in there family who was once a lobsterman they would not catch on so quickly to the point that there performing task like that alone that's INSANE!!!

From years of sailing I learned to keep saltines or fruit or any easy snack handy so that if I felt the least bit queasy a small snack would put it to rest. During a big storm off Buzzards Bay in ‘61 (I was 13yo), we headed off shore with sails furled except for a few square feet of the mainmast of one very sturdy ketch. When the winds changed we added a couple of sea anchors to slow our approach to land. All my siblings were seasick, the girls below and the boys tied to the cockpit with their heads in the scuppers. I kept asking my parents to put up more sail so we could heel over more! How they managed the five of us kids, the storm and all without letting us know just how scary things were still amazes me. Here’s hoping all your really really really rough days end as well!

Tbh you’re my favorite RU-vidr rn. No bs 25 second shorts, just nice long videos of genuine interactions. I live in CT and you inspire me to take care of but also eat more lobster 😂

Wow 6 generations of doing this and what sweet memories for the family. It's sweet you took your son with you so he can see what you do. Plus your son is interested in taking care of the barnacle

Dang it what timing for someone to be cutting onions nearby must have a chat to my neighbor about that. Honestly though how good is this to see, the continuation of a Legacy. 💪

I live in Maine, in potato country, and you do a wonderful job of teaching us all about the lobstering business. Such hard work and part of the backbone of our wonderful state! You're a wonderful father and it's great to see you teaching him and see how proud he is of his father!❤

This was absolutely great to watch. He's such a little cutie and has so many good questions. Congratulation on your new Co-Captain, plus Papa Jay's reaction on the radio was priceless.
