Tails has a bunch of predecesors, one of them being a turtle called boomer, They eventually scrapped that idea and Tails in the beta was brown

Actually, we don't *know* that it was Mighty; we only know it was *an* armadillo. It's still _possible,_ though...

As Joseph Fletcher said earlier, one of the designs for Sonic was an armadillo. Alongside Eggman, this beta Sonic design would become a character (and a good guy who can go decently fast no less), named Mighty. Odd that he wasn't mentioned at all in the video.
