Time to say goodbye to the Sony a6000?! Also let's talk 2020 Black Friday deals!
Hey everyone! Sony has unofficially called the end to making NEW Sony a6000 bodies. As of the posting of this video, you'll be hard pressed to find the body only in NEW condition. I think after the holidays we will only see the sony a6000 and kit lens combos, and then once that's sold out at retailers, it may be used market only. The a6000 changed the game, and it's STILL a great value. Hope you guys enjoy the video and also checkout some of the deals below!

I bought my A6000 just yesterday new for 400 euros including the kit lens. Very impressed by the low-light performance, then again my previous camera was a Moto G7. I even met my first fellow A6000-owner in person :)

Lol a professional photographer I know just bought his a6000 to carry around for his street photography; I must tell him he just got it in time since he he wasn't sure if he wanted to invest on the a6000 or a new laptop 😂 I've got mine a year ago and didn't think I could be so sad they're discontinuing it now. It's like an end of an era XD I brought it with me on holiday and it has been waaaay better than my old reflex! Had it just in my purse with the two kit lenses and it was no big deal! Mirrorless is surely the way! Only thing I hope is that they'll be able to maximize the battery life ine day because I always carry around 4 batteries and use at least 3 while with my reflex I could shoot for at least 2 days! Or even more! (Ofc it depends on the usage intensity). Plus, that damn sensor is always dirty! I'm always scared to switch lenses because of it! Does anyone else get that or is it just me being unable to switch them properly? Dunno XD But thank you, Kyle for convincing me to buy that. Has been a cool upgrade for me! 👌🏻

I kept thinking the mustache was not real and that you'd pull it off. I was wrong. Haha. And oh yes, the a6000 was the first camera I got for myself. Now that's its being discontinued, it means I won't be selling it ever! That camera has been super dependable!

Hey @hikyletaggart, I have the Sony a6000 with the 30mm sigma lens just like you. I use this setup for video conferencing (with a capture card). I’m having trouble with the focus during calls. I can focus initially once by pressing the shutter button halfway down, but it doesn’t adjust automatically during my calls and I appear blurry quite often. I’ve tried a bunch of different settings to no avail. Any advice?

Needs to be on AF-C (auto focus continuous). Also, be aware of the minimum focusing distance. Double check online what that is and don’t be closer than that or else the lens can’t focus right. I don’t know what other settings you may have adjusted. Turn on face detection as well if you want your face to be the priority. 👍🏻

Im so sad that they are discounting the a6000 because I just got just over a year ago!! What the frick frack man?! So I say RIP in peace to the a6000 gotta crack a cold one for the camera!! Also, the mustache though?! Im still deciding whether or not its a good fit for you!! Also, also I think you may have covered this in another video but what type of lens do you recommend for outdoor photography for the a6000?

The discontuing of it doesn’t take away how awesome it is. You’ll have it for many years to come. The 55-210 is a great starter lens to carry around for tons of different use cases. If you don’t need a zoom, I’d say the Sony 35mm f1.8.

Sony have to do this they are a multinational corporation, but don’t let that dictate how you use technology, it’s still a great camera and will be for many years to come without any compromise, throw it in a bag and visit places (after lockdown) that’s what photography is all about.

are you happy with the color science of the a6100. Im thinking of upgrading my a6000 B-cam to the a6100, the only thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is that there are no Color Grading Options available.

I’d suggest getting a used a6300 then as a cheaper B cam. Or an a6400. I’m pleased with the a6100 but I don’t focus on color grading at all.

Sad, but not really a surprise that they’re discontinuing the A6000. I’m guessing the A6300 & A6500 will also disappear during 2021. I keep going back and forth about getting the 70-350, I have the 18-200 which is my main walk about lens as it has such a large range and has OSS. The extra zoom length would be nice but I don’t think it’s worth buying just for that. I like that Tamron 70-180 f2.8 but I don’t have IBIS and so that’s out. Couldn’t agree more with you about the Samsung external SSDs, they’re great.

The 6300 was discontinued months ago I believe, but yeah, 6100, 6400, 6600 should take over.

A 6400 would be above $700. I’d suggest the a6100. However I’d still currently suggest the a6000 if someone is a true beginner and wants a budget friendly camera

I picked up my a6000 just before the pandemic hit. I’ve barely used it, thanks to said pandemic. Hurts that it’s already going away and dropping in price when mine has just been collecting dust! I will eventually put it to good use, though!

I say use it inside and at home! I did a challenge where I made clones of myself in a shot, did a double exposure, and I love shooting products and my pets at home. Pick that bad boy up and get creative!

The a6000 will remain a great camera. You will be able to capture great images for years' to come. Just bear in mind that quality glass lasts for ever and just invest in the quality and well priced Sigma offerings. Leave the overpriced Zeiss glass alone.

A few walkarounds made the overheating a non issue. An exceptional camera for photography, and a very good one for video. Even the 30mins limit can be easily hacked.
