Sony ZV-E10 - Is This The Best Vlogging Camera Of All Time?!

New Sony camera! Always hype when we get a new camera announcement. Today it's the Sony ZV-E10 - the vlogging super camera. Easy to use buttons, tally light, flip out screen, 4k recording 24p NO CROP! Also it's an APS-C size sensor and you can use all of Sony's E-Mount lenses on it, or third party lenses like sigma, viltrox, and all that jazz. So what do you guys think? I mean, would have been incredible if this came out years ago, but Sony also didn't have some of these features years ago. Sony continues to push out new cameras, including APS-C cameras, and that's a win in my opinion. Hope you guys enjoyed the vid!

So Sony just keeps pumping out the APS-C cameras! This isn't a photography first camera - but hey, this is a monumental release. Great price point, and it have some new buttons and things that may carry over into the next Sony a6xxx. Hope you guys enjoyed the round up! (I think that's what this is haha)

*It's Nice but I'll Stick with the ZV-1 because I like the compactness of it, and I see this as a Take away from that. It's Nice but I'll wait too see if they make a a6000 line up but even if not, I'm still going to get the a6600 cause 5 axis.*

I mean it’s definitely capable as a photo camera, but it’s meant more for video. Just lack of buttons for photo, and lack of viewfinder, but it has the same sensor as a6100. So image quality is there.

@@kyletaggart the sensor as a bad rolling shutter they should make a new stacked aps-c sensor... And a good IBIS... The full frame ibis is better... With a way biger sensor...

Hard to understand why Sony have not updated the battery which came out with a6000 some years' ago. I don't understand battery technology, but don't see why Sony would have to make a larger physical sized unit to give longer lasting capacity. Sony has a huge number of a6.... apsc body owners that would embrace a stronger battery. Or is this like Sony's earlier appalling indifference to apsc body owners with the lack of native glass, leaving it up to Sigma and more recently Tamron to fill the glass gap?

@@robertcudlipp3426 No - the battery thing is a canon issue as well - it's just that battery tech in general is not great. Sony put the bigger and better battery in the a6600, but the size the handle/grip got larger because of it. This can be seen as a con as in adding bulk, or a pro, as in adding a way better grip. I personally didn't care for the size of the a6600 when I tested it. One day we'll get a better battery than what is standard in the a6k models. Not today!

I am very interested in learning more about this camera. I have the a7c and the ZV-1. This might be a great b camera for your main shot. Probably will wait for a high end aps-c camera.

Your reviews are very detailed and I like that. I like this for a vlogging camera, I have the a6000 with a sigma lens, the kit lens and a telephoto lens. I personally love the a6000, got it in December for about $750USD, fast autofocus, great image quality. I use it for live streaming, mini documentaries and photography- no regrets!

Whilst I purchased a mint 2nd hand a6400, solely due to the stellar IAF, & the need for rapid head & eye focus for impatient, phone camera addicted individuals, not to mention children!, the a6000 ,for my photo only needs ( have yet to see friends who take phone videos store them other than on phone memory and very randomly on a variety of cloud storage services), remains an excellent camera. There seems to be a post 2000 mad rush by camera manufacturers, in general, to release new & often not significantly different cameras. In some cases notably the Fuji X series, firmware updates have gone a long way to addressing various issues. Rather disappointingly, it would seem to be unavoidable that Sony will simply, but expensively, have to produce a larger body for further apsc body releases, if only to accommodate a physically larger battery. Given the accompanying cost increases, where does that leave those who embraced the early a6.... series, and particularly the a6000, at a much lower price point?

Great, I've been trying to figure out what camera to get. Right now I use a nikon d5200 for the videos but it's really dated and I've been trying to think of something that will upgrade it with more video features and something that I can actually afford. Some of the candidates are the zv-1, zv-e10, canon m50. But in the end I do think the zv-e10 will be the best one. Thanks for the video.

Hello excellent review, thanks. I have a big question I am doing an European Trip, I just bought the ZV-E10, need to choose the right lens for the trips, i like landscaping, castles, people, daytime and nightime photos etc. Between Tamron 11-20, Sony 11 mm, Sigma 16 mm, Sigma 18-50 mm, Tamron 17-70 mm and Tamron 18-300 mm. Which 3 would you choose? Thanks a lot for your input

I don't vlog or really shoot any video to speak of. Very happy with my a6400- the lack of Ibis doesn't worry me & have number of batteries for the a6000 I still have, so just grab a handful if there's a chance will drain one.

They gotta stick with those batteries unless it’s gonna be a bigger camera. Would be nice if they could somehow either shrink the battery, or just make it last much longer. Battery tech is one of the things that us humans just can’t figure out lol

I think this is an interesting camera as I also have an a6000. I think the video capabilities would give me what I need at a price point that's not gonna break the bank.

This would be a nice upgrade from a Sony a6000 for video. For photo not much has changed besides object tracking, focus points, and touch/flip screen.

Would you say this would be a good camera to use for audio recording a podcast? Like not much movement? I have a Sony DSC- HX80 and haven't really used it for video. I have but I filmed it in the wrong format and could not transfer the videos to my laptop so I never got to see how it looked on there.

Yes! but I’d suggest if you need the camera to record audio to make it as close to you as possible. For video just make sure face detection is on, and you’re ready to go!

Also for longer podcasts get an ac adapter! So you can run on a plugged in battery 👍🏻

Like the camera in the thumbnail? I use a background remover website (probably first result on Google). It makes a .png file and remove the background on any image automatically. Although the free version is only a certain quality, you have to pay to for better quality. Or, you can do this on canva as well.

Yeah I got tired of trying to Google the camera and find a png file. So I just find a regular jpg of the camera (or whatever it is) and use a background remover website. Canva is a also a life saver in regards to RU-vid thumbnails and stuff like this. I pay for canva and was using it all the time. Great way to see all your thumbnails if you edit them all there as well. 👍🏻

What's wrong with just buying the A6100. It does fine as Vlog cam. Better still, it can be used for taking photos too. Even the ZV1 could be a better choice at its current price with that tried and proven Zeiss Lens.

I really don’t get why people are excited about this camera. 1) The Rolling Shutter is creating horrible bobbling in the footage so unless it is on tripod, the image quality is good but very shaky so not ideal for moving around blogging at all. 2) The steady shot is very cropped in and also does not solve the bobbling issue when moving the camera around. I have to say, I am disappointed when I see these reviews.

Because imo the rolling shutter isn't a huge problem in normal vlogging. This is a better body, better featured, Sony a6000 that is meant for vlogging. I vlogged with a sony a6000 for almost 200 days straight. The rolling shutter didn't affect what I was creating. Doesn't mean it won't affect what others create though. As for the steady shot, true, but unlike the ZV-1 this camera lets you use lenses with OSS, like the kit lens that comes with the camera. You don't have to crop if you don't want to. There are many other good things about the camera, that other vlogging cameras or creator first cameras lack, in this price range. I'm not the target audience for this camera, but for the audience it is targeting, I think it's a nice option. You can shoot in 4k 24p without a crop, you have nice and easy to use buttons, you have a flip screen, all E mount lenses at your fingertips for the future, a decent in camera mic, easy streaming ability, and it's $800 (with a lens). Not too shabby - for those it's targeted for.
