I remember when Spam came with a "key" that you had to use to open it from the front and not the top. And God help you if you couldn't get the key all the way around the can. Life was hard back then.
Use to have Spam when I was a kid in the 60' and 70's. 5 years ago my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer, so I moved in to take care of her. She was still buying Spam. Now, I always have Spam in the cupboard. Great for sandwiches, doctoring up Mac and cheese, au gratan potatoes and salads! Now I see Spam in a ton of commercials and it's hard to find in the stores!
I've eaten spam my whole life. This is my favorite. FRIED spam, cabbage, carrots, onion is also great. Spam sandwiches with tomatoes & mayo I also love.

* cut middles of spam out like squars * cut those squares into thin long sticks *oil in pan let it heat up * take hollowed square spam and place into oil gently *gently flip hollowed squares of spam to brown other side *quickly crack eggs into the hollowed part salt pepper or season in general *when eggs thicken flip the spam/eggs over * count to 10 then plate them if you like dippy eggs, any longer and eggs harden *take the parts of spam you cut earlier and brown surgar coat them then put in pan with hot oil and brown *add asparagus and put them in pan with alittle oil and cook them add fresh lemon squirt them over for flavoring *PLATE AND ENJOY.
Instead oh ham on Easter, I used a tin of Spam sprinkled with brown sugar, spices and pineapple chunks. Baked in the toaster oven while I made green beans and egg noodles. Just me so it was an excellent feast and leftovers for Monday.
I love spam & eggs! I grew up eating this for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And always with a bowl of steamed white rice or jasmine rice. Hey! I grew up as a kid in Hawai'i. So, rice was like bread.😁😊 I don't like bread.😂😂😂Thanks for sharing the memories.👍👍💞

It's one of my greatest memories as a kid growing up in downtown Honolulu and Waianae on Kawili street. It was one of the newest sub divisions behind the TAMURA store. I'm not sure if TAMURA store still there. But that was everyone's favorite super market. Aloha💞👍👍✌☺
A friend of mine reintroduced me to Spam a couple years ago. Been having fried Spam and cheese sandwiches for lunch and Spam and eggs for breakfast ever since. Going to try this new take on it. Thanks for sharing.
Spam has changed a lot. I remember it as being chopped ham and fat in a loaf form that fried up real crispy. My aunt used to make white bread sandwiches with lettuce, tomato and mayo with Spam.
Hubby may could go and buy you one of those devices they use to pick up paper and so on in the yard or house. They are a little longer. At Walmart it is called a Gopher Deluxe II Pickup & Reaching tool found by the Pharmacy or Garden area. I use mine a lot. I really like Spam.

Lol! I can't reach anything on the second shelf in my cabinets. I'm always ducking and dodging things when I try to get them with tongs.🤣😱 My hubby won't eat spam but I like it occasionally. I doubt any can be found in the grocery store right now. If I ever see any again I'm gonna buy myself a can and try this. Thanks for posting! 😁
This morning I had a 3 egg omelet with diced and fried spam and sharp cheddar cheese. Some ketchup and a big plop of kimchee and all is well with the world. I was too lazy to make rice so I had English muffins and strong coffee.
Mizz Moxie I never ate spam when I was in the Philippines mom make home cook everyday, but when we migrate here in California USA I learned to eat spam and I love it so much especially with rice 🍚 and fried eggs

The oil would still have some of the brown sugar in it from frying the Spam sticks for giving the asparagus a little sweetness when they're fried. However, I don't like asparagus, so I would fry up some carrot sticks instead. Plus, to give them that extra bit of sweetness, I would lightly drizzle a tiny bit of honey over the carrots as they cooked. My sister does this with carrot sticks, and they're fantastic!
When I make these, I first crack the eggs one at a time into a small bowl. This way I can make sure no shells get into the pan. Then I can slowly pour the egg into the Spam without it running all over the place. Instead of flipping them, I turn the pan down to low and put a lid on it. The eggs cook through without having to flip them keeping all of the egg in the Spam. At the end, I put some grated cheddar cheese on each one and some diced green peppers. Here is a tip for the asparagus, if you use a carrot peeler on the thick ends, you can get down to the soft center and it will cook as quickly as the tips do
@@MereAnimeSoul New name here....the time depends on the temperature. If you put a few tablespoons of water in and quickly put the lid on, you will increase the steam and cook it for about three minutes. Just look at the eggs to see if they are done as you like. Runny yoke or hard yoke
SPAM is original from Minnesota. As a kid my parents loved it but I didn't. Since then over the years I have heard many people around the world love it. I never ate any since. Haha That egg in the center of the Spam is rather creative! ;)

Spam already has a sweetness of it's own. Think adding brown sugar is probably too much...but hey...I may be wrong. I'm already in love with spam fried rice. Eggs and spam sounds great. Will have to make this.
Great meal. If you rinse your rice before cooking it in the rice cooker, it will come out fluffy and not sticky. It looked a bit sticky. I wish you would have shown you and Phil eating and enjoying the meal together.

I like to turn the block of Spam and cut big square slabs. Sometimes l only cut 4 slabs, fry them hard on both sides, then slice them in 2 do only 1 side is fried. The best of both worlds. I'm sure that the bigger slabs would be great like this.
