@@TweakRacer i don't remember, can;t check now. But you can flash kaack, and put "TEST" without quotes in the commit field. That will give you kaack branch with that fix, and a few other. I've been flying it for quite a while.

Yeah, Sir, im planning to PR some features back to official Betaflight. But not all of them deserve to be there. So this is sort of experiment branch to test, to check what people think, what developers think, etc. Plus, a separate branch can be updated faster, no need to wait for official BF release. Can still use "stable" 4.4.x + extra features required. And this is essential, for this season racing, for example. Not everyone would be willing to run 4.5 unreleased. But many people need RPM limit, for example.

@IvanEfimovLimon fair point with the rpm limit. I just think these features are so good they should become a standard 😀 like post flight stats or quick menu

The higher pitch HQ's are actually slower and more efficient. 7x4x3's are the most aggressive prop on SL drones.

THanks! i think you can still choose dshot600. But yeah 4k on F4 processors is jsut more stable as far as i know.

@@IvanEfimovLimon Unfortunately only DSHOT 300 can be saved. If you choose 600 it defaults back. Again, on another F4 board, i can select it just fine and it works just fine. so weird. previous versions its fine but on 4.4.2 its doing it as well not just kaack version

@@IvanEfimovLimon would measuring the loaded kV be correct or does the code do some sort of guesswork on what the loaded value would be?

@@mopatop3921 its just guessing based on kv you input, but guessing can be off depending on your motors/props. Tanner (RPM limiter inventor) have some plans to imrove guessing. But for now you can just put in the settings whatever KV would feel natural for you. In racing the guessing stage is really short cuz you hit full throttle right at the start. But for freestyle scenarios, yeah, you might want to adjust KV if it doesn't feel right. This KV in the code is just a multiplier in the guessing equation.

@@InfinityDrones 4.4.2 got some dshot problems with some ESC firmwares. If if you running blheli 32.9 you are good mist likely. To make sure, spin motors (props off) from motors tab, from 0 to 100% throttle and watch that errors are ~0%

@@IvanEfimovLimon I'm running a mamma mk2 stack with blheli S - needed to do motor direction in esc configurator and flashed Bluejay 19.2. Not getting any errors at 100% throttle in betaflight motors tab.

When you activate RPM limiter, then throttle limit is not shown in prearm screen, and not working. Motor limit is still valid tho, if you set it. In this implementation of RPM limit it really just guesses your desired throttle cap till you hit full throttle. And once you hit full throttle it can compare your max rpm setting with the actual RPM.

but why does any of that matter. If you set rpm limit at 18000, and BF knows actual RPM, who cares about throttle? I don’t see the relevance. The RPM limit is the cap, no? Maybe I’m missing something so my apologies for the stupid comment 😂

@@IvanEfimovLimon let me rephrase. If you have an RPM limiter, you don’t need throttle cap. BF sees RPM, and if a motor RPM hits your set limit then it just has to stop it in its tracks there by feeding the info back to motor output, irrespective of what the throttle stick is at. At least that’s how I thought this would work. Maybe it’s more complicated than that and im not understanding it. My apologies if im driving you bonkers

@@PIDtoolbox no worries, it's good to have second perspective. With RPM limit you indeed don't need throttle limit. Because rpm limit is basically a smart throttle limit. But you might still need motor limit. Just like with a regular throttle limit, the RPM limit only limits the average rpm across 4 motors. So some of the four motors can still spin faster than your limit, as long as the other motors spinning slower (making average at limit) So it's not limiting the rpm of individual motors. It's limiting the sum of motors rpm. So if you run crazy high KV motors that can burn with 100% motor command, you might consider adding motor limit still, despite you have RPM limit. In theory it's easy to make RPM limit to act like smart motor limit instead of throttle limit. But in this case you might also need to dynamically adjust your PIDs, just like you have to adjust pids, if you set your motor limit to 50% let's say. That's something still to investigate :)

@@IvanEfimovLimon ah I see it’s averaged RPM limit. Why couldn’t it be made to have RPM limit for each motor? In either case it can affect PIDs but only in extreme moves where one or more motors might ceiling at the RPM limit and affect the copters ability to have full pid control but I presumed no one wants to limit RPM by some severe amount so the effect on pid control should be minimal. Alternatively the pilot could tune with RPM limit on to be accurate. The devs know best I’m sure they thought of everything 😜
