Hi there ll88! WOW! Thank you so much for the kind words!🥰It's always amazing when hear that someone liked a specific video and it somehow helped them make a decision.... thanks again for making my night and I'll try to keep on nerding out the best I can! 🤓👍
Hi there Matthew! I'm glad the video helped and the GC's really are awesome for that aggressive XC/trail riding and will be the only tire I use for as long as Spesh makes them!
Just ordered these for my 2019 Chameleon that I'm converting to an XC bike. So glad I found your vid! Can't wait to try these now. Went with 27.5x2.6 and going to run tubeless. Coming from 27.5x2.8 Rekon+ with tubes, so these will save me lots of weight and roll faster.
Awesome! I'm glad it helped. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the 2.6.s vs the 2.8s once you get a few rides on them as I still have a 27.5/2.8 wheelset and tires lying around here. Also, what color Chameleon do you have? Thanks for watching!
@@ThunderStruckMTB I’ll definitely let you know how it goes with them, can’t wait to try them out! My Chameleon is the orange color. I also have a 2021 in the smoke/gray color, and that’s my dedicated flow trail bike.
Great to hear! I just ordered a Ground Control Grid to replace a Continental that I tore some knobs off of exposing the threads underneath. The Conti only lasted about 400 miles on the hardtail, which isn't that great. I live in Colorado where the riding is also pretty dry. I'm hoping my experience is as good as yours! I've been really impressed with my other specialized tires on the gnarlier wheelset.
Hey Barl! I'm stoked it helped! These are still far and away my favorite tires and I have 4 more new ones in my closet ready to go... Thanks for watching and the comment!
Hey MrFrankie! No, I have not ridden them in the mud so I have no firsthand experience to share and same goes with the T5 compound. My opinions of those would be that if you are riding in wet and mud for most of your rides, then the GC wouldn't be the best choice. The T5 is a harder compound and is advertised to roll better but I'm not sure if you or I would feel any difference in a true blind test between it and a T7. The GC T7 is an awesome trail tire for the dry southwest of the USA, that I am confident to say! Sorry I couldn't be any more help and if you do pull the trigger on a set maybe comeback here and give your thoughts on how they ride in the wet and T5 vs T7 as well.
Specialized makes my favorite tires I have ever ran. The purgatory, ground control and slaughter are my favorite. I currently have two bikes with a slaughter rear tire.
Hi Jay! I totally agree! I'm really interested in the new Purgatory and have thought about giving it a go on the front of my Chameleon, but I'm just so happy with the GCs front and rear that I just keep going with what I know works.... they are all so underrated!
@@ThunderStruckMTB I just found a shop that has a screaming clearance on specialized tires. $20 a piece I picked up an older butcher 29x2.3 and an older purgatory 29x2.3 for a banshee paradox build.
Beautiful bike my friend I almost bought that one instead I went with a Vitus sentier at the time I was looking for one two months later they are out of business should've went with the chameleon
Hey Kieth! Thanks for that! Your Sentier is a nice bike and it's such a shame that Vitus (and Nukeproof) got caught up in the whole CRC debacle as I really like both brands..... just keep enjoying your bike!! 😀
Hi Chris! I have never had a single issue (I'm sure that's the kiss of death and a walk home soon). I ride in the SoCal high desert and while the trails that I ride are not real rocky, we do have out share of goat heads out here which can and will end your day. I really don't have to worry about sidewall cut protection from sharp rocks too much like you might, but for my 210lbs of general desert trail riding they have been awesome. I go back and forth between Stans (regular formula) and Orange Seal Endurance depending on price and both work well for the dozens of goat head punctures in each tire over the now 815 mile run (Stans in this run) of both front and rear!
I could not tell a difference either way. They both roll really well, but for me, in my SoCal high desert terrain the GC T7 GRID is the clear winner for me.
Hi Mateo, yes, these are tubeless ready. I have used both Orange Seal Endurance and Stans sealants and they do not weep a drop of sealant. I should've mentioned that in the video... thanks for asking!
