@@ji604Sounds like a solid plan for Thanksgiving. Get the rest of the family to start fighting with each other, and after everyone is too tired to fight anymore but stuck in their own seething headspace, pack up all the food and leave.
Well, he didn't *really* hide the number of attempts, he just made them appear very briefly so you needed to Pause in a VERY SHORT Time Window! Personally, I checked the # of attempts for every single Level.
@@christiangauthier727 I checked them afterwards, it was a fun minigame to try to figure out whether or not something was a first attempt. Unfortunately Decino is waaay too good, so it was usually just a safe bet to assume it was and I think I was wrong more often by assuming he had died than being surprised by a level taking a few attempts.
My favourite part is when you leave every level. 6:32 Decino: I shouldn’t take any damage here because there’s a lot of Revenants here. Revenant: I’m about to end this man’s whole career.
I was genuinely surprised that the Ratio of Leaves to Deaths wasn't higher than this! I was SURE it was going to be much higher than 2:1, which Decino didn't even reach (though he very nearly did!)
The second counter *left* me chuckling. Good one, pumpkin man. Now more seriously, it's interesting how SoD didn't have the philosophy of boxing you in on a confined arena too often. It's always nice when the maps make use of the entire play area multiple times, even if just by letting you leave to expand the field of a given battle.
That's kinda the issue of then concept. Because maps have to be done fast you don't have the time to test them, much less get other players that play differently to test them. So there is a lot of cheese hanging around.
@@Kingdramana You can absolutely make maps where strict lock-ins are put rather quickly. Speed of Doom was designed to be open by its influences,(Scythe 2, Plutonia 2. etc). However, megawads like Sunlust are either very strict about lock-ins or forces of enemies are overwhelming so that even when you have a chance of escaping, enemies will still follow and pressurize you. So it isn't an issue not allowing cheese it is about different combat design philosophies
In the meantime I enjoy/suffer a flashbacks with my first playthrough of ValVE. That room in "14 angrier archies" where you get plasma gun, but trapped with bunch of revvies and one of them titular viles. Leaving this room was all I wanted and tried to do for first 10+ attempts.
Decino needs a "you can just leave" counter just like Civvie11 has a sewer count. Also your microphone does the funniest sounds when it changes mode lmao.
Really liked the progression of MAP32's start definition: 0 - 4 deaths: start isn't mentioned 5 - 8 deaths: "start of this map is pretty insane" 9 - 15 deaths: "this map has a ridiculous beginning (start)" It also made me wonder what would the next definition be should death #16 have happened 🙂 Hashtag #decinothinksbinary 🙂
This is seriously impressive I've got to say. You didn't have any deaths for the first half of the WAD and in the second half I think it was 7 levels you died on I can't believe you got Twilight Massacre in one go
So, I went back and started watching your Eviternity playthrough 'cause I'd never seen it and, dude, I just want to compliment you on how much better you've gotten both as a player and your commentary/presentation. It was never bad or anything, mind you, but you've clearly improved quite a lot!

Man incredible how little you died in this megawad. Was wondering in the future if you could leave a small spreadsheet at the end with a full breakdown of deaths/map as well as whatever other madness the megawad entailed (leaved :) )
