These are some of the common issues that new Speed Triple owners are experiencing. Most of the other issues I see are software related and Triumph just released an update, so I will be getting that soon and reporting back.
Great video.. I love this bike and know that the first run of a new bike will always have a few issues. The good thing is that they all get resolved. Keep up the great Speed Triple content.
I safety wired between the tab and the cover, because they've all broken further down near the weld. Hadn't seen anyone report the exhaust nuts falling off! Thanks for planning on that coolant change video, that's going to help a lot of people in the future.
Thank you! I already had the oil leak out from the same cover you showed on the video. Glad to get ahead of other minor, yet important issues- Really appreciate your work :)
Great video! I had the oil leak issue too and yes, it almost hit my back tire. Luckily I caught it before it caused issues. Triumph needs to address this...it's a major safety issue if other bikes are having this issue.
@@jace2wheel762 Mine was the first oil pump seal failure ever including all the test bikes so I wouldn't expect this to be an issue for others but only time will tell.
There is no excuse for under torqued bolts at the dealership level. Techs should have inspected and marked every bolt after removing it from the crate.
@@alexmorgan3435 Maybe it’s just common practice around here at Triumph/Ducati/MvAgusta/ Aprilia/BMW dealers. If a Dealership is charging me an uncrate fee and assembly, my expectation is that at a bare minimum it’s road worthy and not losing parts on the way home 😂
Mate appreciate the video I experienced the same issue the dealership insinuated I had loosened them, I put a video out of the issues I had, SC project just released some exhaust. Enjoy your videos mate, from the UK 🇬🇧 Best Regards J
I also had the oil leak from the engine cover. Sadly the leaked oil burned to the surface of my engine cover paint and ruined it. My dealership has been solving the issue with Triumph since late summer now, but so far I haven't got a new engine cover, although my dealer said Triumph will give me a new one at some point.
My 1200 RR came without 1 of the coolant’s cover grommets and almost no coolant. 😔 I just took it out of dealership yesterday. I ll pay them a visit tomorrow to sort this out.
My friend has a similar bolt issue in his Tiger Sport 1050. He needs to tighten the bolts every couple of months. He told me that apparently it is because of vibrations of the triple engine. Well, BMW GS should be boltless considering its boxer engine…
Nothing like buying a brand new bike then having to get the wrenches and lock wire out to prevent the new bike from falling to bits. You would think as the cost of these toys keeps going up that the quality control would also improve. Obviously not.
Careful with the HF oil filters or any filter that has that nut on the end. Most race orgs and trackday will not allow them as they break off and leak oil everywhere. For 15 years of racing, I've just run a hose clamp with safety wire over the oil filter and run the safety wire to a bolt to make sure it doesn't move. Some bikes like the ZX10R you can rest the hose clamp against a tab that is on the engine and the oil filter cannot turn until it's removed.
I think so. I really wanted to ride it all day at COTA, but couldn't even squeeze a couple sessions. The bike is amazing, I just need to ride it fast on the turns.
Steering head is another issue, but easily fixed so no biggie. It has a rubber vibration quelling washer. If not tight it compounds movement. This happened to me, it was bad. My dealer inspected repacked and properly tightened so good now. I will have rubber removed if it ever comes back.
Thanks for the heads up. I remember during the track tech inspection, the bars had a good amount of back and forth movement to them. I'll need to have this one checked as well.
Great video cuban can you gives us the dimensions on that drain bolt or the stock number on motod? They have several and im not sure which one. SKU:RB-TISUMP1412MR-BLK this one?
@@xorbe2 You travel a lot but sedately -> BMW...LOL I was thinking the S1000RR. Mostly back roads, Never take my new bike to a track day, that's only for track bikes. and I'm mostly in triple digits wherever I go, hope to get some control over that illness one day, but going to enjoy it until then.
I can’t find where the C Spanner is located. The Owners Handbook states there’s a CSpanner but the diagram shows only the Allen key and Torx. There’s no C Spanner in sight
i have a low oil pressure warning showing occasionally at low speed. it will be gone once restart the bike, oil level is definitely fine. anyone has the same problem?
Haven't seen that problem. If the level is fine and you've been changing the oil regularly there shouldn't be a problem, unless somehow something got stuck on the oil pickup?
Yup, just got it back from the dealership. The fixed my gear positioning sensor that had gone bad, updated the software, got rid of the TPMS fault, and told me about the recalls for the engine bolts and exhaust valve.
@@CubanRider hope all your problems are solved now👌 I just bought one now,, but its staying in at dealership to spring time arrives. They said that all recals will be solved before i take the bike out from the shop👌
@@mholsen80 yeah I didn't.ask about the exhaust cover but I did ask about bolts and.th few people.having issues with the bike turning off. I just went to the website and my bike doesn't have a recall. Idk but so far I love the bike I rode it home 140 miles after I bought it yesterday. Fuck it's nice. It's so refined and smooth. A lil rough when you first take off like 2k rom.but after that a fkn wet dream
Valve cover? I have an oil leak at the same milage which led to the replacement of my oil pan but it wasn't it. It's either a bad o ring or a oil pump issue. Hopefully I'll get my bike back soon without it spitting oil on my rear tire.) It's been down for over a month.
@@RonnieM not the valve cover, the cylinder head. Nothing too serious but it is wet right there. Overall i am pretty happy with the bike it is fantastic
Yes, fantastic bike even though there's some teething pains. I'm getting her back today "stoked!" It was the first oil pump seal failure ever with this design, so wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure it's just a freak thing.
you're certain this wasn't a shitty technician messing up? That's not good... And they do make a crash cage for the 1200 as well, I've already prepaid for the new SC project cans coming at the end of November
I'm sure Triumph has pushed out guidance to the technicians about checking all the bolts, but I still see new owners reporting the same issues; this is what we get for being early adopters. The bike is solid otherwise with no major issues reported.
@@CubanRider I almost forgot, but my head got sloppy and required a tightening. There is a rubber vibration washer, so it has to be tight otherwise the washer will exacerbate movement instead of quell vibration.
but they all do man lol espesially the first year a manufacturer comes out witha brand new model it is just part of being an early adopter like this guy is.
