In this video Tom explains to our fellow scaler what is needed to put a LED light on a Auxilary channel for the ability to turn on and off this light with a switch or trimmer on your Spektrum transmitter. The process does require some DIY and customization because most LED lights and light bars have different connectors and input voltages. So it is recommended that you are ready to solder, install regulators, and create new connections with your equipment of choice. Please be extra careful when doing custom electronics because one wrong connection or short could result in damage to your model or even fire. To be able to control a LED light or Light Bar, you will need some way to use your Aux channel's signal to control the power to said LED. This is normally achieved using a light controller. There are many different types and solutions for this, and in this video we give you 2 examples. Please consult your LED light controllers instruction manual for proper setup and configuration. Once you have installed the LEDs and your controller, the transmitter setup is very straight forward. Follow along to learn more! I am using AVC on my Infraction with the DX5C and 6100 AVC rx...so do I need to not use, skip, or leave open aux 1-2 and use 3 or 4 if I am hearing correctly to turn on/off lights?

That's what I just wrote..kinda.. I have always thought there was no power until you hit the switch /trim depending on the transmitter setup. I've watched this video several times and I'm still lost. I know what he's saying and how it works now but wow I admit I'm not smart nor educated but damn! All that for lights or a winch? I got one of the remote LED sets from somewhere and a usb charger pack.
Kindly I have DX5C and I have I switch which I am not using on the receiver but I also use need to use the AVC! When I tried to go from the settings to add the switch with for the lights it showed Aux3 and an L symbol which I couldn't go on it! When I switch off the AVC it has the options of Aux 1,2 and 3 that can be used! Is it possible to use the extra switch for lights without removing the AVC?

Since you asked in your comment what we need help with...A few days ago I bought a Spektrum DX5 Pro, so I could see the all the Telemetry on my Tenacity DB Pro. It works fantastic! Seeing all the telemetry for the battery, esc and motor on the radio is awesome! I'm running 3S and 4S and it makes it easier to be able to keep an eye on temps during a run. Everything is good. Help: Could you Tom, or anyone else that knows how, please steer me in the right direction for being able to figure out how to set my Steering Rate for AVC to the knob on my DX5 Pro for quick adjustment? I have everything working and adjusted to my liking, except that I would like to be able to adjust the Steering Rate for AVC on my DX5 Pro, just like the factory DX2E was set up with the Tenacity DB Pro. I really liked that feature with that basic radio! It worked very nicely and could be adjusted instantly & precisely depending on conditions & traction etc. I've gone over the DX5 Pro manual & related videos I could find & tried everything that I can think of, to no avail so far. I tried other channels too, just to see if I could get it to work. The AVC works fine! I have it in Switch Drive Mode in 3 modes on the 3 way "switch I", right next to the knob that I would like to use for the AVC Steering Rate. Even though the AVC works fine with the settings I set in the 3 modes, I like to change the Steering Rate / AVC on the fly, as conditions change during a run. The DX5 Pro doesn't seem to want me to assign any channel for quick adjustment the Steering Rate for AVC. The knob isn't being used and would be perfect for it! Tom, I plan on putting the Tenacity's light bar on a switch too, which is why I happened onto this video. Thanks in advance for anyone's help! p.s. On the Tx settings going to the Function List - Rates - Steering - OTF - it only gives me the option for Inhibit or Trim button F. Going further down to Override - It only gives me the option for Inhibit, Switch E or Switch H.

I'm really enjoying the Tenacity DB Pro too and we're amazed at it's durability! I've been so impressed, I bought one for my wife and a third one for other family or friends to use. I have some spare parts for them, but amazingly, we still haven't broken anything yet (just turned some tires bald), and have run a ton of packs through them, especially my modded one. Thanks!
Looking for a similar video for the DX6E. I’m trying to enable an on/off switch (preferably using the gear switch on my transmitter). Any suggestions? My LED’s work when plugged into the open channels/ports on my receiver, but I’d like to be able to turn them on and off from the transmitter. Is that additional component required in order to turn a channel on and off with a switch? Thanks!

I hope you can help me out here, im fairly new to the rc game. My crawler came with a 2channel esc, channel 1 is connected to servo, channel 2 is open and not being used. My remote controller has a "light" button and id like to install remote led lights. Can I use a remote controlled aux on/off switch relay into channel 2? As of now without the rc aux relay, the lights are constantly on when plugged into 2nd channel, so if I apply the remote relay between the led and esc, will I in theory be able to remotely turn on/off led lights via my remote controller with the "light" button on the remote controller? I am trying to set up my Aux3 to run my lights. I set it to use switch G. Now I cannot highlight the input option to change the switch to something else. Please help.
I have the same problem with mine. Yhere is a update out that they told me to do. So I bought the cable to do the update and see if that works. I csn select swithes I dont have and then I cant get it to change back and have to reset the model. Keep you posted.
So Tom, If I am setting a lightbar up and using the DX5 Rugged with a SR515, is there a specific spot you plug into on the SR515? Is there a video of the actually wiring and connection that you did on this for your lightbar? Thanks signed, Newbie.
Hi Gregg, The wiring is really very dependent on your setup and any other accessories you might be running. That being said, running it from AUX3 (ch5) is a good place to start.
My spektrum slt3 stransmitter has a 3rd channel a and b thumb switch and my receiveer has a auxiliary 3rd channel port but my lights stay on all the time I'm pressing the thumb button but nothing happens
@@SpektrumRCvideos I've tried a wireless on off module in the esc fan plug and I tried in the sr315 aux port but the slt3 stransmitter does nothing. Do I need to bind the receiver to the wireless on off module?
It is in the RATES menu, select Steering and change to Brake. OTF is the option you will want to change to another available trimmer or turn INH to disable. Hope that helps!
What is the ab button for on the slt3 remote with the new no prep drag car? The car has lights on it I cannot get them to turn off why would you guys have an RTR car that has lights and an AB button on the remote with no way to use it?

I plug lights into my sr315 on my Typhon 3s V3 and my AB switch does nothing! Are you saying the buttons on the controller are only for looks and not functional?
@@ryanbarrysmac looks like the buttons can be used with a function toggle adapter for lights. It's like an extra thing you have to buy and run in line with your lights. I think it's ridiculous. Some people use them on crawler trucks for a winch. Who the heck wants to put a functioning winch on an rc car. Just go pick the car up for crying out loud. Some people are turning rc into role playing.
@@ryanbarrysmac You need a LED light controller, simply plugging the LED in directly only supplies power. Watch the video, I explain this in detail and give tips :)
