I learned to read with Spider-Man, he’s my all time favorite character. I could not be happier with his this movie WITH THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STAKES turned out.
I was more attached to this films release professionally and personally than any film in history. Debuting the final trailer with Tom Holland, doing tons of coverage on my own, then both attending and working the premier. I have loved every step of the way.
I’ve never had more friends and family reach out to share their excitement for a movie. Every single one made me so impossibly happy.
I’ve never had more of you reach out asking for a spoiler review. Every single one made me so impossibly happy.
The cast from the leads (Tom Holland , Zendaya , Jacob Batalon , Benedict Cumberbatch , Marisa Tomei ) to the supporting cast ( Jon Favreau , JK Simmons ) to the villains ( Willem Dafoe , Jamie Foxx , Alfred Molina , Thomas Haden Church, Rhys Ifans) and everyone else were all EXCEPTIONAL! And John Watts has me SO excited for Fantastic Four and the future of Spider-Man.
I couldn’t love this movie more.

FYI: Alfre Woodard was the actress who confronted stark in CW (she also played Black Mariah in LC). Paula Newsome was the woman in this film.

Hahaha I recorded this the day after I did my review with Winston and Kristian. Winston Marshall mentioned this during the review (over at Kristian’s RU-vid, The Big thing! Nearly 2 hours of this check it out!) and I never looked it up. Believed it blind. My bad.

I love how much screen time Tobey and Andrew got to bond and tell each other how awesome they both are. It was like a way to make the Spidey fandom stop fighting. We can finally have peace knowing that all Spider-Men are awesome in their own way.

I was crying the moment Ned and MJ started to call for Peter Parker and I saw Garfield’s suit because I just couldn’t wait to see Garfield and Tobey. Garfield’s performance (and of course Holland’s and DaFoe’s) was on point. I loved the scruff and his emotion was bursting through. I always have to give credit to Garfield, his acting, and his own take on PP that I loved in the AS series and in NWH. The 3rd act was more than anything I could have ever imagined as well. The redemption arc(s) were so beautiful and well done. After Endgame, I walked out of that theatre thinking “Wow, how can Marvel top this? Where are they going from there?”. After NWH, I walked out of that theatre shaking in awe and so so so grateful to be alive during this time where we get all these movies. I love the Marvel fans and can’t wait for the continuation of Phase 4 🕷❤️.

“You need to be able to forgive to be a hero” is such a great observation. Not only do heroes have to choose to forgive those who have wronged them, but also forgive themselves when they mess up or fall short.

Leaving Dunst out of this movie was definitely the right choice. Never saw Dunst as the right casting for MJ. Garfield's MJ (Shailene) could've been OK.

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but I really enjoy that Matt Murdock's introduction to the MCU is in a scene shared with Jon Favreau, who played Foggy Nelson in the 2003 Daredevil film opposite Affleck.

Man I have to say: what a brilliant movie. From the villains, to May, to the legendary return of Tobey and Andrew. This movie really reminded me just how good Andrew was as Spiderman. Fun fact: I'm pretty sure Tom Hardy and Andrew have the same age difference in real life as Eddie and Peter have in the comics. So maybe Sony can keep Tom Holland in the MCU and bring Andrew back to be the Spidey of the SUMC. Also could be the mentor for a live action Miles too

I agree with what you said about it making the comic books better. This is something I feel this film, the Insomniac game, and Into the Spider-Verse accomplished. They took the most divisive parts of One More Day and improved on them to make them more fitting for the character of Spider-Man (or more accurately, Peter Parker, which I feel is worth noting because the different Spider-Men are more unique than people realize and that's what's great about them, as ITSV showed with Miles Morales' struggle with and against others' expectations of him). In each of those three stories, Peter struggles with his relationship with MJ, wanting to rekindle it in the game and ITSV and losing it at the end of NWH. The latter is more accurate to the comic, but in a much less polarizing way that doesn't just feel like editorial thinking kids and young adults won't go for a superhero who's settled down and it's less forced because Peter isn't just doing it to save his aunt who was already on death's door to begin with, but actually has to live with the consequences in true Peter Parker fashion (especially given her death is fills the role of Uncle Ben's, which is vital to Peter's growth). Each story also let Peter grow up as a true 'Spider-Man' instead of being constantly regarded as a kid. In each version, he's either a full-grown adult, a young adult, or a teen becoming an adult, but by the end of them, he matures in some significant way. Something I liked about the game and ITSV is how he and MJ split up and came back together in very grounded, adult ways, which fits the character's tendency to balance superhuman struggles in his superhero life and human struggles in his personal life (though the text exchange in the game hit a little too close to home for me, but that's Spider-Man for you), but the film managed to make me connect with the whole "make everyone forget who I am" spell in a way I didn't really think was possible. Especially at the end, when Peter saw the bandaid on MJ's head and realized that maybe it's for the best if he leaves his loved ones to their own lives so his Spider-Man baggage can't hurt them anymore. Just thinking of their final words in that scene has me almost welling up as I reflect on it. The fact that MJ says, "It doesn't hurt anymore," and that rush of guilt Peter must have felt. She's even wearing the Black Dahlia necklace, which is a beautiful thing that he broke and that must be how he sees her when she's with him and all his trouble. I do hope they can eventually reunite, but maybe after a couple of films, just to really build up to it and give Peter time to sit with his decision and reflect for a while. Also, I'd just like to point out that Aunt May's grave is engraved with the same words as in the video game.

Don't know if anyone already said this, or if you realized it by now after rewatches, but Ned decided to search for another Ned when Norm recognized the name MJ. He said "Mary Jane?" And MJ corrected him with "Michelle Jones", Ned realized at that moment that there's an MJ in Norm's universe, so he thought "maybe there's a Ned too".

Brilliant video Coy! Couldn't have summed it up better. What I loved most is the fact that it is the ultimate Spider Man.. pun very much intended! It had every single element that makes up the character of Peter Parker/Spider Man, it has something for every fan of the character. Whether you like the past movies, the current movies, the comics, the video games, it caters to every Spider fan. It encapsulates the good and the bad from Spidey's history and made it all work in this celebration of a film.

This movie was so incredible, emotional, funny and just EVERYTHING!! I watched it twice and I can't wait to see it again and again and again lol I was surprised at how well they brought all the characters back! Garfield and Maguire felt just like the characters from their movies and goblin and doc oc were unbelievable! What makes Marvel so amazing is that they know these characters and they are true fans like the rest of us... so far phase 4 has been epic and I'm just so excited to see what else is coming. The things that happened in this movie and the way that it ended just made me appreciate the first two so much more- but re-watching the first ones will probably make me cry now knowing the lessons he will soon learn and the people he loses... the weight of being Spider-Man is so heavy and they portrayed that perfectly in this movie.

It was 2002 where my life was kind of a mess: my parents were getting divorced, they had five children, I remember seeing a TV Spot of Spider-Man and my dad said, "We should go see that." He took me and my brothers to go see it and I instantly fell in love. The storytelling, the origin, everything about it I fell in love. Read the comics, watched the 1994 Animated series, and it is one of my favorite characters today. Seeing this film, made me so happy. It's not my favorite Spider-man as Spider-man 2 still holds a special piece in my heart but it comes very close.

On the note of Aunt May’s headstone reading, “Helping someone helps everyone.” Having just rewatched TASM before my second NWH viewing, I feel like this can even reach toward one of the moments from TASM. There’s a scene we’re Andrew’s Spidey helps a guy’s kid out of the car that was about to fall off the bridge when Lizard attacks… and it turns out the kid’s dad is a construction guy who ends up helping Spidey get to Lizard across the city after Spidey got shot and is limping and hardly sticking his landings when trying to websling his way there. The dude demands his workers help make a swinging path for Spider-Man. If Spidey hadn’t realized the guy’s kid was in danger earlier on in the movie and didn’t help him, there could have been a very different outcome. Just his helping save one person, kid or not, led to him getting helped later- which in turn helped everyone. I’m totally stretching here, most likely, but with that movie so fresh in my mind I can’t help but see a connection to that movie and that quote of “helping someone helps everyone” on May’s grave stone. 😅

Oh and on the note of the Miles reference between Peter Three and Electro (sorry I’m commenting while getting through your review)- The look on his Spidey’s face when Electro says “there’s gotta be a black spider man out there somewhere” feels suuuuuper bizarre- almost like Peter Three is further along his timeline than one would think and almost implies there’s a Miles already potentially running around his universe as Spidey at some capacity… Cuz when Electro says “you just a kid,” Peter Three’s head movement implied- to me- that he’s definitely not a teenager anymore- and maybe even post-college age at least… perhaps a kid by electro’s standards/in comparison to Electro’s age. But I think we got an older Andrew Spidey in this movie. They were more clear on Tobey’s Peter Two being very much a grown adult but incredibly vague with Andrew’s (probably because Andrew has hardly aged in his face at all since 2014)…

The saddest part was seeing that he wasn’t even able to graduate high school and can’t go to college. I wonder if he will be making money by selling pictures of Spider-Man to Jameson in the next film.

The only thing that bothered me about Holland's Spidey is now fixed. He got his "Great Power, Great Responsibility" moment.

I think Sony has big plans for Andrew Spider-Man. I think he will be the Spider-Man of the Sony Verse with Tom Hardy and Jared Leto (Given that we see the Andrew Garfield Oscorp logo in the Morbius 2nd Trailer) & They left some of the symbiote in the MCU so we’re definitely setting up the MCU Black Suit Saga & MCU Eddie Brock/Venom

I think it's a very good movie, I'd probably say it's the second or third best Spider-Man movie, placing Into The Spider-Verse as #1 for me thus far. I'm having some trouble getting over how impulsive they made Dr. Strange, he just goes to cast a spell that will mess with all of existences memories(Also I'm guessing written records, audio and video files, and photo evidence) without talking to Peter about the ramifications, doesn't even bother to discuss setting parameters for the spell, and then goes and blames Peter for his messed up spell. Dr. Strange did not do his due diligence, and that's very disappointing, and I believe out of character. I get that most movie set-ups are pretty dumb, and if they didn't happen there would be no movie, but maybe they could have set it up more... intelligently. Almost everything after that bothersome set-up was great, just Dr. Strange's insistence that it's Peter's fault nagged at me later in the movie.

You don't need to kill off Andrew Garfield's Spiderman. Just create a separate Spiderman for Mile's world or have Miles appearance be a continuation from INTO THE SPIDERVERSE

I’m wondering if the “Murderer” poster in The Morbius trailer is referring to Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man and not Tom Holland’s since Andrew said in the movie he turned to rage. I’d have to look at the Spidey suit in the poster but it could explain it.

I was Blow away. I haven't felt like this in a mcu movie since Infinity War. Peter truly became Spider-Man! Peter so far in the MCU been Spider-Kid in Home Coming he was his trying to prove himself as a hero. In Far from home he finally understand the consequences of being a hero and just wanted to be a kid. In this Peter gave up his happiness to keep others safe. That the heart and spirit of Spider-Man!

I'm wondering if 20 years from now, we'll get another actor playing spiderman and have another multiverse movie w/ Tobey, Andrew, and Tom.

Loved the movie and this review was the perfect icing on the cake. Curious if beings off-world like fury, guardians and capt marvel, or Wanda as a nexus being/scarlet witch would be affected by the spell. I could also see strange himself not being affected as the one casting it. It would be great to have Holland be on his own for a trilogy and grow as spiderman before he’s brought back into the fold and strange restores all the heroes’ memories of him. What I didn’t get was why Ned forgot Peter was his best friend which had no link to Ned knowing he’s spiderman. It should’ve just erased the memory of his alias as opposed to the actual relationship, no? Maybe I missed the wording of the spell. Also, if the villains being pulled in are ones who know peter Parker is spiderman, does Tom Hardy’s venom know that from their universe?

Think the spell was to forget Peter Parker in a general way, not just the spidey part. He may aswell have just appeared in the reality

Now it makes sense to me why there was no tombstone for Uncle Ben. Aunt May was the Uncle Ben in this series.
