So inspiring! I live in Florida so I can’t have many of the plants you have ! But I try to have a costal cottage feel . I’m only 2 years into gardening so I’m excited to see where it will take me and my garden in the future. I’m a big environmentalist, and gardening kinda goes hand and hand with that ! I love composting and eating fresh veggies that I grew ! Thank you so much for sharing ! It really brightens my day and clams me . ✨🌱🌾🌳🌴🌲🐌♻️🌏
We have aphids as well, so we started getting Ladybugs every year to cut the numbers down. I love your garden and the changes you are making to it this year.
You have a beautiful garden! I've watched you for a year or two now and enjoy each time I join you on your yard tour. Last year was my first time to plant purple hyacinth bean vine. I fell in love with that interesting vine. The reddish-purple stems, dark, heart-shaped leaves, lavender flowers, and purple beans in fall. It's such an interesting vine. I gave seeds to all my friends too. I have it this year, but am also trying cup and saucer vine. Thank you so much for filming and editing. I know it takes a lot of time. We enjoy it so much.
Good morning Elizabeth! What a wonderful message to read. Thank you for taking the time to say all of this. It truly means a lot to me. Garden friends that share seeds are the best! 💜
Hi Laura! Oh my word everything looks healthy. Your Tulips are Beautiful. I always have fun running around your yard. I have been so busy cleaning up for summer. I Love, Love, Love your Greenhouse. Happy Gardening to my sweet friend remember to take Breaks. Thank you for the wonderful tour. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed evening and stay safe my dear and Special Friend.
I do like what you did with the hedge out in the front. It opens it up and now you can focus on your beautiful cottage flowers on the other side. Everything is looking wonderful!
I was soooo impressed with the way you groomed your topiary’s a while back, I would have totally butchered mine , I only had one at my old house and I let it grow in to it’s original shape because I was so intimidated
I so appreciate it! Thank you! I was having some anxiety pruning today. I just held my breath and did it. 😆 try on something that isn’t too pricey Amy. You’ll get the feel for it! 💜
Hi Laura…I love your videos….not only are your projects fun to watch but you make me giggle about things you say….Robins nest is an apartment in the sky! Love it! Today was a beautiful day in my garden too and I wasn’t in a hurry to get my to do list done but instead just enjoyed being outside and puttering around and appreciating all that my eyes can see. Have a wonderful spring!
Hi Sharyl! Thank you so much! Lots of times I cut the silly or goofy things I say out. But, it is who I am so I’m wanting to just let that come though. 😆💜 I love those kinds of garden days. Then of course a pile of laundry inside. 😆 hope you have a beautiful Spring! 🌷
Gardens are always a work in progress, and your cottage garden is lovely, my style totally… thank your for sharing with us…you have no idea the inspiration you give. Thank you. Love the boxwood topiary! I love topiary p, I have 3 double ball boxwood, one I grew from a cutting! And 2 chicken topiary…Love all topiary!
BEAUTIFUL GARDENS and PLANTINGS! Gorgeous and very creative! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL and all your gardening wisdom! YOU ARE ADORABLE! I listen to other gardening channels, where they use the Latin name for the plants they grow, so already they've lost me. You are so humble in your approach and intelligent in your gardening advice. Very easy to listen to and I am so happy you're putting out videos. If I recall correctly, we are in the same gardening zone, I'm in Maryland 7a and 7b. In the fall, I plant pansies a plant that winters really well, so they are now in bloom in the spring. In the heat of the summer, they'll die off so then I plant a summer annual. Not sure what I'll plant this summer.
I love the vegetable garden raised beds being moved because the view of them from inside the greenhouse is so nice. It does look so much more cohesive now! Great swap of the maple and the obelisk as well. The fountain is now a true focal point! Love these changes... and isn't that what gardening is all about? I'm always shifting and relocating plants, trees, shrubs and perennials too! So fun! Great job! ~ Stephanie NJ Zone 7a
Everything is looking so beautiful. You and another girl have inspired me to set up some raised beds and plant some boxwood in my flower box. Umpteen years ago, there were boxwood in that flower box. Thank you for the garden tour.
Everything looks lovely Laura! I’ve admired every phase of your garden since we’ve met, but I must say, that this one is my favorite so far🥰. This growing season is starting out in a great way!
@@HowsItGrowing all is well here. How's your parents doing? I'm assuming all is well since your Dad is happy to inherit some of your plants and raised beds. 🥰
The amethyst falls wisteria is truly a beast! I have one as well that I dug up and didnt treat very well, it was even uprooted by a wind storm we had and replanted again for the 3rd time and right now its blooming and regrowing a ton of new vines! Love it so much!
LOVE, LOVE your garden tours!! You inspire me so much. I’m getting a later start this year. Weather has me not being motivated. Keep up the good work. JUST BEAUTIFUL 🌸
I have an Acropolis clematis that needs to be cut down to the ground in the spring. I'm amazed how quickly it grows. I cut it back a week ago and it's already over a ft. tall I can actually see a difference from day to day. Last year was a terrible year in the garden between the heat and drought we had very few blooms and even the drought tolerant plants suffered . It seems like this year is going to be much better !!!
Isn’t it incredible? I feel like one day I walked out there was nothing, the next day BOOM, time to tie it up. I have fingers crossed for a mild and well watered Summer! 💜🙏🏼
I think you should just flatten down the top of the stump and use it as a base for a pot. It is a really nice use of something that is natural in your garden.
@How’s It Growing? Or temporarily upend a decorative pot and place over the stump til the stump has been removed. I've done the same with a small juniper stump in my yard so I don't trip over it.
Hi. Nice to have you back. Hope all is well. Love all the changes you’ve made so far. I do wonder if you prune your climbing roses, and, if so, which ones, when, and how severely?
Thank you so much! 💜 I do. I prune all of my roses. Fairly aggressively. If left to just grow they will get all gangly and weak branches. My best recommendation would be to look up climbing rose pruning on RU-vid. Especially from English gardeners, or English rose breeders like David Austin. I have found them very helpful to watch.
Omg! Beautiful landscape! Just a note - some roses are more susceptible to pests & diseases than others but there may be something going on with that spirea. I had 6 at my other house with roses and never had aphids. I had the same problem with a $2 salvia plant that I planted & discovered too late was loaded with earwigs in soil and all hell broke loose lol!
Oh yes, absolutely! I’ve been growing roses for over 20 years, believe it or not. 💜 So many have come and gone with the changes I’ve made here. The spirea is in the rose family, so it’s definitely something they are drawn to in general. I don’t mind them being there rather than the rose, so I don’t even try to troubleshoot it. They are welcome to stay on that shrub if they leave my roses alone. 🥰
Thank you! The sundial is very old. It’s by Rowe Pottery but from the 80’s and I just added it onto a concrete pedestal. The pineapples are by Campania International. I buy those pieces from garden-fountains.com They often run great sales of 15-20% off!
Everything looks great. So much progress! Question: Do the offspring of the Camelot Cream foxglove also bloom the first year? I was wondering if that trait would transfer to the offspring, Thanks!!
Hello!! Thank you! Yes, I have found that they do! I have a couple babies that are shooting out bloom stalks right now. With that said, I also have a ton of teeny tiny seedlings that are nowhere close to that maturity popping up. So I’m more inclined to say yes, but only if they get to that growth point soon enough in the season.
Enjoyed your tour of the yard. Where did you purchase you olive tree from. I had gotten a Spanish olive tree for my husband and it kind of died back to the ground.
Thanks Sue! Aren’t those so pretty? They have that Wakefield look, but believe it or not, I got them at Home Depot! I don’t think they are carrying them still, it was years ago now. I look every season I would love to snag more. 💜
Hey Laura. Did you transplant the Japanese Maple from a container? I have one in a container for many years and it's doing well but I want to put it in the ground. It would be in full sun. Do you think it will do well? I'm zone 6 in Hunterdon County. Thanks for any tips or advice you might have.
Hi Marilyn! I actually just moved it over about 10 feet. It was closer to the greenhouse in the ground. In general most trees would do much better in the ground to be able to spread its roots. For a Japanese maple the light can be tricky. They mostly appreciate some dappled shade or to not be in full sun during the hottest parts of the day and may scorch and suffer in full sun. This one, a bloodgood, can tolerate a bit more sun, but I’ve read the color isn’t as vibrant as it would be in more shade. I’d try to give it a bit of shade or to plant under the canopy of other trees if you can.
